I'm sorry, but I can't agree with the previous positive comment. It may have been, at one time, the cool, old-time hardware store I'd hoped it would be, but that was many, many years ago. In fact, it was quite dark inside and very dirty. The shelves and racks were almost all bare. The sole employee had no people skills, usually giving one-word responses. He obviously did not care about me (his only customer) as he was not wearing a mask, saying that he didn't believe in them. I won't be back. To me, it is worth it to travel 20-25 minutes up the road to Ace, Lowe's or Home Depot.

That same thing at WalMart was something over 8 bucks. Other things compared to WalMart were 20-40 percent higher. This is a small-town hardware store where it may take a few minutes longer or cost a little bit more than a big-box store, but personalized assistance is nice. Concerning the previous review, apparently that individual has never needed help at a big-box store. There are usually insufficient employees to help, and often they do not know much about their products. Furthermore, the quality of what you purchase at Ace Fix-it is usually better than the big-box stores.

Charles was the first person to speak with us when we walked through the door. He was patient. He listened to our issue we were having ,and walked us through how to resolve it! This is the service people want to receive when they are going into their neighborhood hardware stores. He didn't rush and was engaging. Went back grabbed the peg hook . Brought it to the register . Owner is now over . Says there two different bar codes . Yet they both say the same model number . Argument ensues . They then scan the peg hook and the item . They are both the same . But ring up as 27.99. They did reluctantly honor the advertised price on the shelf . I did not buy the other items as I will not indulge this rude owner . No apology for their rudeness. I wasn't trying to get over on them . I just wanted the price they had on the shelf . This is called bait and switch . Customer service is not their forte . Peg hook bar codes and the actual product bar codes do not always match as UPC's change via vendor and planogram dates . They should may be do a price audit rather than belittling a customer To then in the end, looking less than educated about their own business. . At no point did they offer to get the price tag or do any verification I had to go back . And then be hassled by the inept owner . I will not go back .
