Having written several articles about cheesesteaks resulting from my annual Philly Cheesesteak Tour with some buddies, I took a shot on a cheesesteak here and I'm glad I did! In Philadelphia, many will agree that the roll makes the sandwich. While I judge a cheesesteak on several different criteria, the absolute star of the show was the super soft roll, freshly baked in house, that held my sub. Firm enough that it held the filling, but incredibly soft. The meat, cheese and grilled veggies came out hot and delicious with a side of seasoned tasty fries, as pictured here. I only had two minor things that kept this from being one of my few 5-star ratings. First, while tasty, the fries could have been a bit crispier for my liking and second, I do like a bit more of the meaty, cheesy goodness in my steaks. No problem with the taste and did I mention the bread. Apparently made from the same stuff as the pizza crusts. I'll be back. Give it a shot, but dine in. I'll try the pizza on my next trip.

It tasted completely unseasoned -- like plain wings that were just fried and tossed in sauce. In the past, you could tell they were at least seasoned with salt and pepper before being cooked. We also ordered boneless wings (we've gotten them twice out of our four orders). The first time, they were juicy and had a good amount of meat. This time, they were mostly breading and way over-fried in turn making it hard to chew, which was disappointing. Overall, we've had great experiences here before, but the inconsistency on this last order was unfortunate. Hoping it was just an off day, because we really do enjoy their food when it's made right.

Bear with me for a little set up. My wife can be a bit finnicky, eating smart/clean lately for her health (she is doing great, so proud of her). I'm an Army vet, will eat and drink anything, even things I shouldn't. So that makes chosing a place a bit of a first world problem. I was on the hook to pick a post ride (24 miles) lunch place. She had scored well on a few safe pick places earlier in the trip. I had looked at reviews, looked over the pictures. I believe I had in my mind a little place like Gianni's over by Fort Meade, MD. I don't quite understand the 5 star reviews as much as the 1 star reviews also don't ring accurate. I suspect the local reviewers are, rightfully swayed by a nice set of owners/workers and the out of towners are expecting too much. The service was a bit slow for a Saturday after 1300, but there was only one guy, Carlos we saw. {It brought to mind the Star Trek original episode with Mr. AtoZ running all over the place}, so that can be forgiven. We were hungry so that likely made it seem longer than anything actually occurred. I discovered that their operation had been in another location in this small town for many years, and had only been at this location for a few. It looks like it. Everything still had that fresh look of the home makeover shows. I also suspect they do a decent job of keeping it clean, no off smells or gunk in corners to make me think otherwise (I check- barracks inspections old habits). The prices are MD, "post-covid" we had a small pizza, an order of fries, a salad and iced tea for $46.00. A bit steep, but we all have to get used to a bit of sticker shock. For that price I wanted a bit more value, a bit more refinement/finish to the items. Everything was just okay. I do hope the sprawled in the chair, singing along with the music gal having beers with "grandma" made it home okay ;)

Well the other day I paid the delivery driver with a $100 bill and the total was only $25 (included $5 tip). The driver scrambled to find change. It took a while. In the confusion, I gave him $75 instead of the $25. I had a handful of 5's so I thought it was the bigger amount, $75. Wrong. It was as much my fault as the driver's. For all he knew, it could have been a very large tip. I DID tell him I wanted $75 in change. He walked off with my $75. The next day I called the manager after I realized my mistake. The driver came out immediately and returned my money. The manager/owner was on it!! And the driver was honest. Tipped him for being honest. And their pizza is great!
