Take a cliff top stroll around the property and visit the pool. It's so hot today, I wish there was water in it... Also a lovely cafe on site for a bite to eat.

Leading proponent of Art as An Excuse to Paint Lots of Naked Women and Satyrs, Lindsay's better known these days for 'The Magic Pudding', the somewhat anarchic children's classic. This museum is located in his house and is run by the National Trust. Tickets are a little pricey at $12 for adults, $10 concessions, $6 kids and families for $30. And if rampant boobs and lecherous mythological figures are your thing (and really, it's so weird it is worth seeing) this makes for in interesting stopover. My favourite spot is the painting studio in the gardens, set up as he might have left it (sans nude models), bringing an interestingly personal touch. He built model ships in his spare time. Who knew? I've heard rumours about Lindsay's behaviour amongst oldtimers up here that'd make a reality tv star with one of THOSE tapes blush. It's an odd feeling to see kids getting their faces painted in the same grounds where all those artistically-licensed shenanigans went on. There's an annual children's literature festival held here, and the odd concert in the grounds too. And lots of boobs. Did I mention that?

From aerial shots to in the surf, photographer Eugene Tan reminds us that every-time you visit Bondi you will see something new and special Whats also great about Aquabumps is their Facebook page and daily updates. This is my "go to" online space when I'm feeling homesick. In fact i discovered the special images whilst holidaying in Paris. Tourists - this is a great place to buy a special art piece for a friend back home. Locals, this is a wonderful tribute to our iconic beach. A must visit if you like fun, sun, colour, photography, art, beauty and something unique...

Aquabumps, created by photographer and surfer Eugene Tan, started as a daily email sent to subscribers which captured images of mostly Bondi beach. As subscribers grew (40,000 or so at last check) so did the potential to grow Aquabumps. The Aquabumps gallery is a showcase of the most beautiful beach photography, mostly local but some international. Quintessential Bondi surf, surfers, sand and beachgoers are all beautifully captured and sold as art as the gallery. The small gallery doesn't do justice to the cult following Aquabumps has but the crowd inside on a Saturday or Sunday does. I picked up a stunning, simply framed picture of a 'Bondi Silk Wave' which I gave to a friend visiting from the US. Safe to say she loved it and it sure beats handing over Koala and a Wallaby's jersey!

The cakes & sweet things are tasty, as are the substantial eats. They are also child friendly, having a large grassy area with a sandpit & area for children to play without constant supervision, making it a popular spot for groups with children to meet on weekends or mum's groups with children throughout the week. I enjoyed a tea smoked chicken salad on my most recent lunch outing at Hazlehurst, it was a meal that I enjoyed down to the last mouthful & will be returning to have it again. The menu makes choosing just one thing difficult with everything so good. Don't forget to save room for a cake!

I found the menu difficult to read - it's in restaurant-speak, and it was hard to find anything I thought I might like. Once you've decided what you want, you then have to take your order to the front to place it - no waiters come around and ask or explain the specials. Most mains cost $25, and portions are small. Kids' mains each cost $12. The fish and chips come with two strips of fish 2 cm wide, and about a third of a cup, loosely packed, of salad. Depending on your order, your food comes in boxes or on slates or in other weird receptacles - Hazelhurst Gallery Cafe is far too trendy to be appropriate for the whole family. There is no warning on the menu that dishes will come in certain objects, so if this is important to you, specify when you order that you would like your meal on a real plate. Meals are delivered by waiters, but hot meals can also come to the table barely warm. The place is far too noisy. There are beautiful lawns, and the gallery itself is interesting, but the cafe really feels like it's trying too hard to be edgy when it doesn't have the basics of good food and good customer service in hand. Very disappointing.
