If you are looking for a fun experience to do on Catalina Island, head over to Descano to zip line. The zip line experience is very safe, they have multiple redundant safety features, so nothing to worry about there but if you are afraid of heights it might be an issue for you. They give you a safety course and explain everything in detail including what to do and not do. Plus they remind you when you are up on the platforms. There are a total of 5 fun lines to zip on across the canyons and with views of the harbor, just amazing. Our guides were great, nice, fun, knowledgeable. Both Kaitlyn and Berkleigh are amazing guides. They made the whole experience even better. WOW - Such a fun time. We got to do the zip line even though it was raining. Definitely a great experience. Shoutout to our Instructors/Guides, Travis B and Jackson G. If you happen to get assigned to them, these two will definitely make this an experience to remember. Not only will these two be informative, amusing, funny, and keep you engaged, they will be very professional and ensure one is safe at all times. Upon arrival, one will go through a process: 1. Get Geared Up 2. Training Protocol - Do's and Don'ts 3. Take a Bus to Where the Fun All Begins Your assigned instructors may sound redundant at times with their 10-point inspection on every person and reminders on how to position yourself, but it is only to ensure one's safety at all times. Please do follow instructions to make things go smoothly for everyone as you will go through a total of 5 Zip Lines. Lastly, be sure to simply have fun and enjoy the views Catalina has to offer. it's about a 2 1/2 hour experience. If you go in the middle of the day and it's sunny, the views are amazing. There's about 8 to 10 people, per group in 20 minute increments. it takes about 15 to 20 minutes just to get everybody all harnessed up and then you take a 10 minute ride in the hummer all the way up to the top. there are two water stations along the way, but make sure you use the restroom before you get up there, we only saw two places to where if you were really chickened out, you could take the stairs and go all the way back down but once you go past the first one you're in for the next 2 to 3 zips downs...so finish. Do not forget: make sure you bring your aqua case so you can do photos (photo package expensive) You will not be able to hold your phone. while zipping read more

Workers and zip line instructors were rude! Not very friendly and not worth the 200 dollars. You're only doing 5 zip lines, only one of which is somewhat scenic. They are very strict when it comes to having phones out and won't offer many solutions. I would strongly urge anyone to use the money they would've spent there on e-bikes or Descanso! read more

Wow super awesome! We had a great time doing this Zip tour. First off staff was awesome, John and Trent were so awesome. Cant say enough about them super great. The zip lines were so fun, super fast and super high up. So fun! I would do this one again. Super safe and all the equipment was well kept and %100 ! Cost was not cheap but worth it IMO. Cant wait to go back and do it again. read more

This was a very easy and fun experience for me and my hubby. In this 2 hour excursion, we started off with the educational session on how to use the equipment, then took a shuttle to the first zip line. We did 5 zip lines altogether, all with sweeping views of the Catalina landscape. The zip lines varied in speed and length and the equipment was very safe and well kept. Also what made our experience was the dream team, Triana M. aka the Free Spirit Traveler Local and Sarah S. From Denver aka Spider Monkey/Daredevil. These two ladies were really funny, sweet and knowledgeable. They even gave us little challenges to do, like how to turn ourselves around with different grips on the handles, or reach for tree leaves or shout as loud as we could so it could reverberate around us. Oh, and we also saw a bald eagle! Super cool. At the end of our session, our group received a 10% coupon any Catalina Company restaurant/place. Afterwards, we ate lunch at Descanso beach club. One thing I wish I had done was wear a bathing suit under so I could swim at the beach right after. Oh well, next time! read more

My family and I went over to the island for the day. This was our 3rd time doing zip lining and by far the best. Morgan and Luke were our guides they were great made it funny and safe. Beautiful views good braking System ( ive zip lined where you use a glove to slow down didn't like that one). Would definitely do it again over there. Wow?! Elena and Josh kept us alive! All kidding a side, our two outstanding guides were awesome. Beyond the necessary safety briefings, Josh was terrific at reminding us to have "Fun!" He showed us how on the five different zip lines you'll get to experience. Elena was also wonderful in checking our equipment at each new line and was a wealth of information about the island. You won't get better views, excitement, and it's a 10 minute walk from anywhere you might be staying. This company is NOT one you would want to put your families hands in. I took my 10 year old twins and family on for a surprise vacation. We were lucky that our excursion was not cancelled, but on the way to the first Run monte, said "I HATE" tourist! He was out tour guide. At the first run Monte our guide yelled at my kids, telling them they were absurd for not making it across due to their weight. He made the entire party feel bad. At the second run he rode across the line and asked the remaining guide ti leave where we could hear him on the radio. That was enough. I couldn't let my 10 year olds feel responsible and like they were absurd The guides are STRAIGHT outta high school and are more worried about their own endeavors or hating on the tourist than their job duty of keeping people safe! read more

We were in Catalina for a work event and had a few hours to do an activity. A group of 6 of us decided to do the zip line. We all thought this was the funnest tour and activity! It was two hours of five different zip lines. This was my first time zip lining ever! I was nervous and excited at the same time. The first zip line was the shortest, the second was the longest, third was the longest. All the zip lines has cameras where they take your pictures and is available for Purchase after the tour. It's $45 for the entire groups photos or $15 for individual. Go to their website on attire recommendations. You'll also get some great views from the zip lines and platforms. Each platform had a water cooler and cups but the water is warm since there's no electric plugs up there. Brandon and Juan were such great guides! Brandon meticulously did 10 point safety checks on everyone before zip lining and made everyone feel at ease. Juan was an excellent receiver. They both gave us the best training and was very detailed and really entertaining and funny with their jokes "buffalo under the palm tree" lol they are both professional, knowledgeable and upbeat. They helped make most of our first time experience a lot of fun! They also gave us some great recommendations on places to get drinks, and get good gelato on the island. I recommend using the restroom before the activity, putting your things in the locker on site, and if you have a GoPro or want to use your cellphone have it on a lanyard case around your neck. We'd do it again along with the new Adventure trail that just opened up that they offer. That looked like a lot of fun looking at it from the zip line. read more

Never tried ziplining before so Catalina was the perfect opportunity for it! It's definitely not cheap, but a fun experience. Highly recommend going before noon because it can get really hot, even during our 10:20AM excursion we got pretty sunburnt. The instructors were very friendly and outgoing and took the time to remember all of our names. Overall I thought it was fun, but just a one time thing for me. Make sure to take a lot of photos during because you can buy them all for about $30 at the end! read more

Had an excellent tour with Triana and Nick. A+++ guides! They were warm, knowledgeable, patient, fun and informative. The zip lines are fun and scenic (but not terrifying, if you're a bit on the fence) so we recommend this to a wide variety of people. Lots to see and learn, and safety checks at each line. We went at 10:20 and had a lot of time left in the afternoon to explore the island and most of our group actually were in the island only for the day (not overnight like us), so it's accessible to a lot of visitors to Catalina. An easy walk from Avalon. Definitely recommend! read more

Simply awesome!!..... my wife and I went to the island for my 40th birthday.We had already booked the zip line tour a month or so in advance. My wife was pretty nervous and anxious about It. On a one day visit to Catalina Island, there is so much to do, see and eat…read more To start, rent a golf cart or wear good walking shoes because this port is not too big for tourist exploration. There is also a "Circuit" ride share that will take you around the island for $2 per person. Coming in by tender from a cruise ship is great. The docking area is in town and so close to everything. I exited the tender and walked along the waterfront where I passed a few children's playgrounds with a pirate theme. Then on to where the golf carts are rented. I walked to the pier (Green Pier) where there are bathrooms and many small shops all hoping for the tourist business. They carry the typical port souvenirs. After a long walk on this short pier I got to the end where there is many people fishing with poles and the little set ups they will sell you for a few dollars and the bait too. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch the boat come in and out of the harbour. There is a small beach area that has lots of pretty colored little rocks along the shoreline. The walk to the round Casino Building is pretty much the end of the road before a mountainside resort. I passed by some waterfront restaurants that were even crowded on a cloudy day. My walk back to the tender was quick and the ride back to the cruise ship was also pretty nice and calm.

The interior vineyard is so beautiful. The trips were very enjoyable but a bit of too much sun for me. Wear sunscreen and a hat to prevent sun exposure! Keep in mind that it takes 20 years to be able to buy a real car on island. Only one golf cart is allowed per residence. There are no spaces for real cars and more golf carts in Avalon. Our family and friends live here so they have a real car to take us to interiors. Yes you will need a real car to do that! Avalon has enough restaurants and bars to hang out. Casino is also a movie theater to show older movies on certain weekend evenings. They offer tours of this historic casino too. They host NYE gala every year. Beach club is great for summer times. Museum is small but still worth taking a tour. Too bad the spa has closed down, we used to go there all the time. This island has so much to offer. It's the best place for a lot of fun just a ferry ride away!

We even got to see them up close, which was incredible. As for the ride itself, I didn't find it nearly as bumpy as people make it sound. There were a few spots where the height felt a little sketchy, but in a "whoa" way, not a "nope, I regret everything" way. All in all, I'd absolutely recommend this tour. He never rushed us and made sure we had plenty of opportunities for amazing photos and genuine wildlife sightings. We truly felt like we were seeing the island at its best. The tour felt safe, well-supported, and action-packed, without ever feeling overwhelming. You could tell Andrew genuinely cared about everyone having a great time and walking away with memorable moments. We also saw a fox and bison! Highly, highly recommend this tour -- and if you're lucky enough to get Andrew as your guide, you're in for a treat. The boat had an enclosed bench-seating area with all seats facing the center of the boat, which was made of glass and several feet below where we all sat. I was amazed by how clear the water was-even right next to shore. As we moved, our guide shared some local history and information about the marine life below us. We paused at several fish sanctuary locations, and the guide threw fish food into the water to attract more fish than we could count. The tour, which lasted an hour, was a delight for the whole family. All of the kids and kids at heart were thrilled by the many types of fish we saw. We were even fortunate enough to see a diving cormorant! The waves were not too bad on the day I went...even though my stomach usually gets queasy on smaller boats, this one didn't bother me. Maybe I was too entranced by the fish to notice. If I ever visit Catalina again and have time to do it, I'll be more than happy to go on this tour again. It was just long enough, and you never know what you'll see down there! Note--there is a public restroom at the beginning of the pier, but much of it was out of order, leading to some pretty long lines. Make sure you go before you get on the boat-no restrooms on board.

Only having been to Catalina twice, once when I was 9 and then in 2024 I was completely unaware of the history of the island & what was on it. Let me start of saying the staff is amazing. Our original tour was planned for the 14th of June & I woke up with food poisoning that morning, very sick. I mean who needs a beach vacation when you can spend it worshiping the porcelain god. I managed to make it onto the Catalina Express only to turn around & leave. I was devastated, I thought we were going to miss out on this great adventure but I just couldn't hang. I called & texted the company, hoping, praying they'd show some compassion and they did. They were so kind as to let me reschedule for the following day. I wish I knew who I was messaging but I never got a name as well as the sweet lady that called me. So, we make it to the island on Sunday morning. I was feeling 100% & ready to go. Our tour guide Leticia met us at the discussed location at 9:15 sharp. She was very sweet & concerned that we had missed our prior reservation, but happy that we made it. I mean she was so nice I wanted to adopt her. I can't even tell you all the places we saw. So much to take it. Letty was very knowledgeable having been a resident of the island for 35+ years. Anything we asked she knew the answer to. Just to name a few, we saw the house Norma Jean loved in during 1943/44. Catalina Chimes Tower, Wrigley Memorial, Pet Cemetery, House in the shape of California, the Wrigley Mansion, and so much more. Educated on the gas prices on the island (Holy Moly), the wait time to bring a car onto the island, educates us on the Bison on the island. She offered to take our photos throughout the tour which was so thoughtful. I mean who doesn't love a good photo op. I can't say enough about her, she was an amazing tour guide. Our friend Annie was correct, everyone here was great! I've already recommended yall to a few friends who will be visiting during the summer. I'd like to thank everyone for their understanding & compassion when i became ill, yall are amazing! Letty, keep up the great tours, so glad we had you for our guide. You rock!!
