I LOVE this place (and i can confidently say this after going here for brunch once and dinner two times!). I've always had an amazing experience here. First, the ambience. I'm a sucker for moody lighting and sultry vibes and that is exactly what this place gives. During the day, it's nice and bright from the windows. At night, very sexy- perfect for a date night or a birthday dinner! The service is always top tier. I appreciate the staff who actually talk to their customers and get to know them: i went recently for a birthday and the waiter was so funny and engaging! He made the night even more memorable. But the food?!! Sensational. Everything was cooked to perfection. My branzino melted in my mouth. The crab cakes was full of crab. The calamari was fried in a very light batter and i LOVED that. We had an amazing experience for Valentine's Day! Came here for brunch and it was definitely a pleasure. The dim lighting and restaurant esthetic still made it feel like a dinner date although it was early and I appreciated that. But let's talk about the food.... 10/10 all across the board. For the appetizer we shared the octopus and it was cooked perfectly. All the sauces and pairings made it a delightful bite. My friend had the chicken and waffles; HUUGGEEE portion and I loved the way they layered the chicken and the waffles. I don't think I've ever seen it like that but overall I'd give a 5/5 BUSSIN... a little more syrup would've been nice though. I had the crab Benedict and it was BUSSIN, 5/5. Another huge portion and there was soooo much crab. Drinks were pretty strong and tasty as well. Service was decent. Our server Chris was so nice and accommodating when we went here on a Tuesday for jazz night. One of my friends does not eat red meat and another is gluten free due to allergies. He made sure all our share sides were gluten free and checked sauces and sides. He helped through wine recommendations, I was very happy with the Sangiovese and my friend with her glass of Sancerre she had with her clam bucatini. The clams were a nice size and freshness. And the steaks had a nice crusting for flavor. I got the chocolate sesame crème and it was the perfect end of my meal. We will definitely be back for prime rib on a Monday in the future. Dinner was amazing here! My husband and I had had a few appetizers and drinks at the bar another time, but never a full dinner until the other day. So happy we decided to have an actual meal here! The restaurant itself is calming, classy, and dimly lit, but a good amount of dimness. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating, but our server was fantastic and really went above and beyond! He went into great detail about each of the specials as well as other menu items, took care when serving the food (I ordered one of the specials: crusted halibut with cauliflower mash; my husband ordered the lamb chops), and even suggested wine pairings, which was helpful. In my opinion, the sauces were too weak to really enhance the entree. However it came in a medium sized pot with a handle, making it easy to use and share. The only thing that stood out to me was the creamed spinach. Every bite was quite rich but wasn't too dense. Did I have a good time with my meal? Yes. Did the flavors blow my mind? Everything we ordered was top-notch. The filet with three added scallops were cooked perfectly, and the macaroni and cheese was rich and comforting (though I'd recommend adding the lobster for an extra indulgence). The cream spinach was a great pairing as well. We did a build-your-own platter of oysters with two East Coast and two West Coast varieties that both were like butter and absolutely delicious. The yellowfin tuna tartare was fresh and flavorful, and the crab cakes are a must-order. The only dish I would skip is the lobster Diablo, but everything else we tried was outstanding. SUCH an amazing experience last night! I'm nervous for more people to discover this gem but...definitely my new favorite steakhouse in NYC. Food, drinks, vibe, service - 10/10. 1. The interior/exterior is very nice. 2. Service was on point. My server Brian was really great, very knowledgeable and honest. It's like he was reading my mind with drinks, I was never waiting or wanting for anything. I'm a little particular with pairing, so it was really nice that he was on top of everything. I also want to note the dining room attendants/waiter's assistants were excellent as well. They were a perfect balance - attentive but didn't overly hover like I've seen before. 3. I had an espresso martini and the tequila cocktail- The Master Cleanse. Both were excellent. I also grabbed a glass of sparkling at the bar before happy hour ended and both of the bartenders were super nice. 4. Last but certainly not least, the food was 10/10. Everything. This restaurant was included in nyc restaurant week which was such a good deal for this place! Restaurant week is a prefix menu with a 3 course meal for $60. The restaurant is beautiful, very spacious, and the staff was great! They even had a live jazz band when we came on a Thursday. I started with the strawberry fields cocktail which was huge! The bread was so unique and was like a pretzel, soooo good! For my starter, I ordered tuna tartar which was very good. For my main, I ordered the skirt steak medium rare but it came out more in the medium side. A bit disappointing but it was still delicious and a very large portion. We have been wanting to try Catch n Chop since they opened and glad we finally got the opportunity! We had a group of 6 persons, I was able to get a reservation on the same day for a Saturday night at 6:30pm. There were no issues with reservations, except if you book online they make you pay if reservation is cancelled, so make sure to look and confirm! When we arrived the restaurant was not too busy however by 7pm it was fully booked, every table was occupied! And I can see why! The food was stellar and the service was excellent. For apps, we ordered the grilled octopus, crab cakes and the special beets salad. These were all a huge hit, especially the crab cakes which were literally all chunky crab meat. For our main, we shared the branzino, rib eye steak, pork chops and the special scallops with mushroom risotto. The portion was large and we were able to share the dishes amongst our group. And we also topped it off with some sides, such as the brussels sprouts, creamed spinach, and wild mushrooms. Our group was shocked in how delicious the creamed spinach was! Upon entering the restaurant the host greeted us. They were nice and accommodating. The waitress however was not attentive. They were very busy and seemed overwhelmed. It wasn't that late in the evening and the kitchen ran out of food. They had no lobster tail and no porterhouse steak. Which is what my partner and I ventured to the restaurant for. We were disappointed to say the least. We were not informed until after we ordered and were waiting for our food that they did not have it any left for the night. This was the best culinary experience I had in a while. The hostess welcomed her and took our coats with a warm smile. The musicians were getting ready (they have a live band on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and the place was slowly getting packed. We started with the tuna tartare that was more generously portioned than I imagined and it was the best I had in my life. The subtle addition of sesame oil on the cracker was a nice surprise. For the main I took the seared halibut on beet risotto and mushrooms. I was beautiful and really good, but maybe a bit too cooked and crispy for my taste. Delicious nonetheless. My friend had the pork chop and it was perfectly cooked. We had a side of Mac and cheese that I would highly recommend ordering. Just ordered this place for take out. And usually i am skeptical of ordering steak for delivery but boy was my being doubtful immediately put at ease with tonights order. Excellent and much-needed addition to the Yorkville dining scene with a great ambiance, roomy seating, fantastic service, and delish fare. We came for a dinner with our baby (who is extremely good in restaurants but is an infant regardless) and Joanna, the manager, was very accomodating and helpful. Our table had more than enough space for the stroller and the overall experience was fantastic. The food itself was great - do not leave without ordering the pork chop, which is thick-cut, juicy, and flavorful. It is one of the best pork chops in the area by far. Pair it with the lobster diavolo pasta, which comes with a nice spicy kick and ample pieces of lobster meat. Their steaks are also solid - flavorful and well-marbled (we had the ribeye). Be sure to start off with the octopus and burrata appetizers, both of which are executed with perfection. The wrap around intimiate sidewalk (indoor) seating behind the bar is a hidden gem in my eyes. You are tucked away from the bar and restaurant scene where you can gaze into your dates eyes and share a few laughs. The bar is ginormous! Sitting here gives you that fancy bar feel with perfectly dimmed lighting. The restaurant seating and decor makes you feel cozy for those big dinner parties. The service is top notch... from the hostess to your waiter, they are knowledgeable and courteous. Never felt rushed and more importantly, the suggestions made were solid. To the best part, the food and the housemade cocktails. It was sooooooo tasty and perfect! The pictures don't give it justice. You have to try to believe it, not a bad dish had! I can't even make a recommendation because all of it was amazing. The cocktail list looked yummy, all of it! I went with a tequila cocktail that went down soooo smooth and still packed a mean punch! We have been waiting for this restaurant to open, and it finally has! (We visited on 08/09 so during its first week). If I could eat more I would have definitely ordered more food, but that just means I need to go back. Our table was not ready when we arrived so we waited at the bar. Unfortunately they did not have their liquor license yet so we were only able to order beer and wine. The cocktail menu sounds unique and interesting so I am definitely looking forward to trying them next time. The bar has 3 TVs where they were playing sports with no sound and can sit about 20 people or so. The inside was dimmed and has various styles of seating (bar, booths, tables). It definitely has a more fancy/ intimate feeling to it. Our service was so-so but I think it was first week jitters. The hosts weren't very clear as to how long we'd be waiting for our table that we made a reservation for. While at the bar they never came to us, and instead we had to check back in once we realized it has been 10 minutes past the reservation. At the bar they initially didn't tell us it was beer and wine only so we spent more time trying to figure out what to order. Once we were seated our waitress was AMAZING. I think her name was Sarah? She had great suggestions and made us feel super welcomed and comfortable. Now to the food... IT WAS ALL SO GOOD!!! - Charred Octopus (4/5) - Lobster Diavolo !!!!! What a neighborhood gem! Boyfriend and I came due to the sign outside stating live jazz Tuesday's and Thursday's - such a fun vibe! Space was gorgeous. Main dining room is separated from the bar area, but we are definitely planning to return for both vibes, as the bar had tvs. Would be fun for a game and steak night! Dinner was excellent, as was the service. We had oysters/shrimp first from the raw bar which were stellar, tuna tartare and octopus for our apps. Tartare was unbelievably good, octopus was a touch overcooked but the flavors of the dish were excellent and it didn't detract from our enjoyment. Now, I love steak but am usually pretty underwhelmed by steaks at steakhouses, hate chewy or fatty steaks, and never get the cook I want. This was literally my favorite steak of my life, and very high on my boyfriend's list (although he couldn't name a better one). Melt in your mouth strip with a great crust and perfect cook, flavors on point. Complemented by the crispy onion strings (would return for literally just a vat of these) and the delicious mushrooms. Meal was PERFECT. So much food, took some steak home which I'm pumped to eat today. Can't believe we have this spot a block away, exciting and also a little dangerous. I live in the neighborhood where this restaurant is. I've been waiting for a special occasion to go there. They somehow managed to ruin my Thanksgiving meal with my girlfriend. Their prefix menu was easy to order from. I ordered the exact same thing for my girlfriend and myself, (this included turkey and stuffing) except for the fact that I wanted garlic mashed potatoes instead of sweet potatoes which my girlfriend wanted. So I simply said "I'll have the same thing except I'll have garlic potatoes" What would you think I ordered? Apparently, I made the horrible mistake of assuming that the waiter in this supposedly upscale restaurant would understand that I too wanted stuffing with a simple exchange of the potatoes. Instead, I was brought both mashed garlic potatoes and sweet potatoes without the stuffing. Really? I didn't think I had a specify something as basic and as popular as stuffing with my turkey, especially at a restaurant of this supposed level. I didn't think I had a specify every specific aspect of my order like I was placing an order with some teenager at Olive Garden or red lobster which I would never go to specifically for reasons like this! I called the waiter over explained the situation he took my order back. I was gonna send my girlfriend's order back, but I didn't think I wanted her to have to wait so I let her start to eat in the hopes that it would not take a long time before my replacement meal would arrive. In the meantime, I asked a staff member for extra bread and butter. We had one small roll left in the basket of only two that they provided. He literally tried to grab the basket and I said "no I want more bread and some more butter please". He looked at me, confused, walked away and came back with only butter. I kind of couldn't believe what was happening here unless he doesn't understand English I really don't know. How do you get something so basic as bread and butter wrong? Anyway, this was happening while we were waiting for my corrected meal to arrive, which was taking a while. My girlfriend was more than halfway through her meal and I was getting more and more aggravated with every minute that passed. Then the food finally arrived. I was about to eat and realized that the stuffing that was now on my plate (instead of the sweet potatoes) was in fact, hot. But guess what? I think you know what's coming next right? All the rest of the food that was on the plate was basically slightly warmer than room temperature as opposed to hot food that I had at this point waited for Just under one hour. By this time, my girlfriend had eaten probably about 70% of her food and I could send it back to have them heat it up, which I initially did, but then changed my mind and decided just to cancel my order altogether with the manager and waited for my girlfriend to finish her meal, which was all of another five minutes and we left and I paid for my girlfriend's meal but declined paying for mine being that it was wrong twice over. By that point, I was just so aggravated I couldn't wait to leave. So I got up and asked the hostess if she can get me my check and take the dessert for my girlfriend to go. The waiter then showed up with the check didn't attempt to not only address the issue, but did not apologize as well which was pretty cute considering the kind of restaurant this place considers itself to be . All he said was" pumpkin pie?" and then just walked away; didn't even make eye contact. I left the waiter zero tip and we went home. In closing, I can't imagine dining in a establishment like this on a regular night with a much more elaborate menu and receive service this bad. Especially considering such a simple prefix menu that literally had a handful of items on it. I wouldn't trust this restaurant to produce an elaborate meal made correctly and at the normal expected hot temperature. Never again. Fun Fact: seriously dressed down clientele especially considering it was a holiday. T-shirts and hoodies and gym shoes. So very exclusive. Don't even think of taking your date here. read more

As a Parlor Steakhouse truther (gone to soon), I was glad to see that something has finally filled the space after years of vacancy. My dining experience, however, left me missing Parlor even more. The ambience and design of the restaurant is very nice, and the staff are hospitable but there is still work to be done in the menu, and the food and drink left me wanting a bit more. The roasted half chicken dish while topped with chimichurri would've benefited from another dose of acidity across the board, and the lemon potatoes were definitely more like paprika breakfast potato esque (still good but false advertising). The portion size was appropriate. I was left wondering why they didn't yet have a burger on the menu as it would be a nice meat option beside the equally heavy lamb chops and steak choices but maybe that's in the works down the line. The drink menu was appealing with many Hawaiian inspired concoctions - my master cleanse was exactly that - a spicy opener that turned muted in taste after each sip. There was also an egg white cognac combination that needed a bit more depth. All in all, Catch 'n Chop has potential but I think slight menu tweaks will take it in the right direction. Had SUCH a fantastic meal at Catch 'n Chop. The whole experience was great and one of the best meals we've had in a while. The steaks were extremely tender and came with roasted garlic bulbs and the most delicious peppercorn sauce. Everything came out very hot and perfectly timed. My sister took me here for my birthday celebration and everything was absolutely delicious. The ambience is gorgeous. It's a calm setting not too loud and the service is immaculate our server. I think his name was Matt. He was pretty kind and awesome and he was very friendly about it being my birthday. The drinks did the job they were supposed to do and the food definitely did as well. What a fantastic neighborhood spot! My friend and I decided to check out Catch 'n Chop for brunch last Sunday, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service went above and beyond--definitely a standout. My friend had the steak omelette, and I went with the steak and eggs--both were cooked perfectly. We also started with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and flavorful. A special shoutout to Joanna, the maitre'd, who was warm, friendly, and gave us a great tour of the space. Her hospitality really made the experience extra special! The beverages were great, and the space is just beautiful--modern yet cozy. It's perfect for brunch, but I can easily imagine it being an amazing spot for a "date night" too.
