If you think trees can talk to you. If you think that they have secret lives. If big trees make you feel small, chances are that you are going to like Cathedral Grove located in MacMillan Provincial Park, Nanaimo, British Columbia. Yes they are big, only the Redwoods and Sequoias in California are bigger. They are also old like some are 800 years old. That means that William the Conqueror would have known them as babies, SWEAT.

You got to stay on the trails when you visit for no more than 1 1/2 hours. The trails are short, the information signs are limited and you can just take so many pictures of trees. Don't lollygag around all the trees that went down during the New Years day windstorm of 1997. They are all over and taking photos at every possible angle could lengthen your stay immeasurably. Don't even think about catching some rainbow, cutthroat or brown trout in Cameron Lake or you will never get out of the park. When it rains the trails get swamped so wear boots because they do not want you to get off the trail. And the final precaution is that you should not try to recall the scenes in the "Return of the Jedi" that were shot right here in MacMillan Provincial Park, Cathedral Grove. read more
