We learned that there were three such sites within 10 minutes of our local grocery store, we had to visit. It is worth the €4 per person admission price. The church is located in the very small village of Valcabrère. To borrow the description from the Haute Garonne's tourism site, "Near Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, this Roman 12th Century church is one of the most beautiful churches in the Pyrenees and was built with numerous reused Gallo-Roman sculpted elements. It has a beautiful sculpted door and a square bell tower from the 14th Century." The reused elements are evident throughout this very sparsely decorated church, allowing you to fully appreciate its history. Lighting is also minimal but adds to the experience. The church is on the Santiago-de-Compostela route. Visitors receive a laminated card with pictures of the points of interest and an audio guide pen that provides a description for each picture. Multiple languages are available. I would also recommend visiting Saint-Bertrand (5 minute drive) and the ruins at La Basilique Christien as part of your visit.

To see so many people on trolleys and hospital type beds here lying in line to go into the baths here and many clearly at the end of their lives is truly humbling whether or not you believe in life hereafter.

Gayle and I wandered inside Sant Miguel and enjoyed the quiet simplicity within. Actually there's more as the 15th Century Gothic Altar and the 12th Century wood carving (Cristo de Mig Aran) were impressive. The later is displayed under glass, and brings out an interesting sense of mortality and humanity.
