They have a lot of great restaurants within a block or two of the duomo.
As with most plazas / piazzas in Italy, it gets busier later in the evening. Restaurants start filling up around 8pm.
Oh, and the Duomo is gated at night, so you can't go up the steps to it...just take pictures from down the street.
