Once the medical needs were attended to, it was time for some paper trailing and documentation of this horrific event. The officer in charge was really great. Mr. Walvoord, who will probably insist that he was "only doing his job" came to our home to see the carnage that ensued. Asking questions, taking photos (sorry, I cannot print them here), and then going to see said animal himself, and almost getting bit, he offered sound advice and was genuinely concerned for me and my dogs well being. He stayed outside in his car for what seemed like hours writing up a report (for me, ASCPA, NOPD, and probably the insurance company who will probably be handling my claim). Instead of bothering me with last minute questions (really, no bother at all), he called on my phone, as he noticed i needed to rest. The non emergency operator was also quite pleasant as well. I really am quite happy with this leg of justice so far.

In addition to the colorful purple, green, and gold dancing waters of this lovely fountain and the plaques displaying the names and logos of many, many mardi Gras Krewes, both past and present, there are several benches and picnic tables surrounding the fountain so folks can gather and sit a spell and enjoy the view and the breeze off the lake. It's a practical, well‑engineered bridge that does exactly what it was built to do, and the recent restoration work has only helped it feel sturdier and more polished. I am one of the lucky souls who has never crossed this bridge and been caught by the drawbridge. That's right, it has a drawbridge. It also has an area for pedestrians to walk. There is honestly not much more I can say about this bridge.

I get caught in the up position usually every day, sometimes twice, only because of the nature of my job. I am back and forth all day long. There is some new radar speed indicator signs on the bridge with some fakes ass looking cameras. Those are not speed trap cameras. I know, I have crossed that bridge well above the posted speed limit and never had a problem. :-) I personally know the bridge operator, went to high school with her, hopefully I'll take some cool pics of inside the control house one day :-) I cannot imagine what it was like before they built this bridge in the 70s. Must of sucked serious booty. Im glad its here!! Also, roll up your windows and turn off your AC when passing through in mornings and evenings....stanks really bad. I think its the mud or pipelines.

Thankfully the new station will be finished by this time next year and it's in a better location because they have more space, it's new, AND I've heard it will be easier to park. The officers have always been polite, courteous, and helpful when I've called for help, and I really appreciate it. Funny story, the zipper on my wallet/clutch/purse thing once got stuck in the inside of my jeans back pocket, and this lovely lady officer spent a good 10 minutes with me trying to help me clip it our where the fabric was stuck so that she didn't ruin my jeans. It's silly, I know, but to me it shows the dedication and desire a lot of them have to help us out when we're just having a bad time!

Well this is my first review of a Police Station. This is not the kind of place that makes one…read morethink of happiness and joy. Normally a visit to such a building is the result of something very negative. The worst being that you are a victim of a crime and hopefully only a property crime. Or that you may be in the process of an arrest and that is never nice whether for a minor offense or for a felony. And then again you may be dropping off goodies for the guys and gals in Blue during Carnival Season. Unfortunately my visit was because I am a crime victim. A thief absconded with all the beautiful Mardi Gras decorations we placed on our home. I was dropping off the video of this low life heathen. The thief just happens to be female and up in age. And I must say that the response and follow up to the two incidents of theft were handled professionally and in a caring manner. Not a major crime and there is so much they have to be concerned about I was pleased with my three contacts with the members of the NOPD. And the visit to 4317 as the Station is called brought back memories from a time I was younger, slimmer, hairier, and a proud member of the NOPD. Probably a time where many YELP participants were not even born. The building is renovated and there are no longer stables in the back. The cells have been converted and so much is different. Time marches on. The odd thing about the Second District Station today, if you don't know, is that it is now located in the newly formed Sixth District.

Maybe it doesn't really leak, but it sure seems like it does since the interior is always wet. It is a little concerning to drive through a leaky tunnel, but the Harvey Tunnel is a local landmark. This tunnel was around long before the WB Expressway and connects Harvey and Marrero. If you happen to be on a Westbank field trip searching for unicorns, rainbows and castles made of Play-Doh, the Harvey Tunnel is the best way to get the full Wank experience.
