This is a small zoo and limited on animals. What we enjoyed the most during our visit was the Llamas exhibit. Something different from what we've previously seen, and we've visited numerous zoos, aquariums, etc. Easy to miss (we almost walked away from it) but it was my favorite part of our trip here. There's a playground inside the zoo and another playground outside to the right of the entrance.

This small zoo, located in the town of Maubeuge, not too far across the border from Belgium (and…read moreabout a half hour from Mons), is actually very nice. I think it has lost many visitors to the Belgian Pairi Daizi, which is massive and full of animals however. It not so much a 'zoo' with animals inside cages, but more like an animal park. In one area you can wander around with the sheep and lamas and, if lucky, get to pet them. Among the highlights are the white tigers, Asian elephants and panthers from Sri Lanka. At just 9 Euros admission price, you can also wander around the world's continents and enjoy what that part of the world has to offer from the animal kingdom. This is actually a very nice day out and you're most likely to not have to walk around in a crowd.
