Went to this location to buy a hat for my son who he really wanted. It was 5 pm and they told us the hat section was closed even though they close the store at 9pm. Went last night around 8:10 ready to find some boots for my husband. The girl at counter completely ignored us as we walked in, but fine yes you're closing at 9 I guess I understand you don't want us here. Then when we found some boots I asked another young woman who was vacuuming for a size, very annoyed she said she was going to check the computer for inventory. Well we waited for 15 minutes and she never came. We just left because at this point we were done, we saw her by the register talking away to the other employee. Would give a 0 star if possible. Came to return items with tags and receipt less than 2 weeks from purchase and manager Meagan still gave us a hard time. After explaining situation with payment she showed no empathy or customer service what so ever and instead continue to tell me she wouldn't be able to help me. Not once did she try to think of options for me but was constantly denying a return. Her only answer was store credit for over $300 of merchandise. If it weren't because I demanded to speak to her supervisor/ DM she would have not done anything to help. I would highly discourage anyone from shopping at Cavender's Boot City (Culebra and 1604). I had one of the worst experiences there recently. While shopping for my son's first pair of cowboy boots one day I decided to ask the sales person if Cavender's Boot City repairs boots. He advised that they did, by sending it the boots to the bootmaker. I asked if he knew the ball park price for something like that and he stated that it may be free depending on the boot, the wear and tear, and the type of issue with the boot. He instructed that I bring the boots in for visual inspection and we could go from there. Several days later I brought my boots in and spoke with Dakota (manager at Cavender's Boot City). He explained it would take up to 12 weeks to get the repair done. Again, I asked how much this may cost. Dakota advised that it may be free because the boots weren't very worn out and the damage seems to be from a defect. I felt uneasy not knowing if there would be a cost after all so I asked Dakota to let me know if he learns of the price prior to the repairs so that I can make a decision. Several weeks passed and I heard nothing, so I assumed it was free. Multiple weeks passed and I still heard nothing about my boots, so I decided to call Cavender's Boot City to check on the progress. I had to call them half a dozen times. Two times I spoke with sales associates who took my information and told me they would call me back with info and never did. Four times I had to explain to the sales person who I am and what type/mode/size/color, etc. my boots were for them to even look them up (and still they couldn't give me an update). I finally spoke to Dakota. Turns out he never took any of my info down so no one knew about my boots or status of what's going on. He promised to research and call me back. He did. He advised me I would get my boots in a week because they were being sent back that Friday (the next day). Thursday of the following week I call to check if the boots arrived and spoke with another manager who informed me that the boots were not even due to be shipped back until the following Friday (a week from my call). This was fine, I just wanted to know what the hell was going on. Finally, I get a call from Dakota telling me my boots were in and I could come and pick them up. I went in to pick up my boots and to a HUGE surprise. To repair the boots, I had to pay $135 and change. I was flabbergasted. Not only did I ask several times what the cost would be and been told most likely it will be free, but I also asked that they tell me an estimate once they find out the cost, after all they sell boots and I'm sure I'm not the only person to ever come in asking to get his boots repaired. I felt like I was pushed into a corner, I had to pay that money to get the boots or just leave them there. Had I known it would have cost $135 and change, I would have considered buying new boots, or using a local shop to fix them (much cheaper once I called around). I had to give my last money I had for the week to get these boots back. This was the worst experience I have ever had, and I will never shop at Cavender's Boot City again. I'm part of a big circle of folk who wear western ware and I will make sure that I go out of my way and spread this message, so they are prepared for something I wasn't. The sad thing is that I asked the right questions but was given wrong or no answers and then I had to pay for their mistakes. This place is a joke and I would strongly recommend you take your money elsewhere where they may treat you as a person and someone, they want to do business with. read more

My parents are in town visiting, and my dad was looking for a new pair of boots. So we head to Cavender's because he is always able to find a pair among the vast selection of men's and women's boots. I also have to note that my dad has wide feet, wide calves and small-ish feet. So it goes without saying that he is a complicated order! He is also extremely picky about the feel and fit of his shoes. Anyway, the sales person was friendly and very patient with my dad. He brought out several pairs of boots and let my dad try them on, answered questions and offered suggestions. My parents finally decided on a pair of black, leather boots. Gonna have to go with average. A huge selection of everything. I felt the Western wear store in Bandera had better sale deals. If you don't mind the drive, you ought check it out. The sale price on wranglers (retro, twisted etc) were $50 a pop with the 3rd pair free, and ariat 60-110. Same deal. Boot selection and prices nothing to set em apart from other stores. The boot selection is great, the prices are also great. So one star for each, but the customer service is the worst. Upon walking in i had already selected some styles that i found on line, i asked the girl at the counter if she knew where i could find them (first time here) and she snarled her nose and pointed at a man walking up and said "he'll show you." Cool whatever guy helped me find one of the boots i was looking for and the other style i had previously choose they didn't have. (No big deal) i continued to look for a replacement pair, no one came to see if i was finding everything okay, but while i was back there trying boots on the counter girl walked back there with another customer and proceeded to help her. I continued to find a second pair of boots. At checking out the original rude counter girl had clocked out i assume bc she was on the opposite side of the counter leaning on it with her stuff in hand, the other young counter girl checking us out was just as rude make faces at the clocked out girl as they where mocking us. Total mean girls. She talked low and when asking us if we wanted a box for our boots rolled her yes when i said yes. The only employee that showed us kindness with the older lady with the beautiful white Shaw on. I honestly don't know what their problem was. We dropped $200 in less then 20 minutes but i guess we didn't fit their image or something. We did some research before deciding that Cavender's would be our first spot. We chose the 5075 NW Loop 410 location in San Antonio, TX due to other reviews. We were there early and greeted warmly by Sigilvano and the store manager Brett. Sigilvano was very knowledgeable and patient in describing how boots fit and different things to be aware of when you are looking at investing in a pair. Sigilvano also helped my wife navigate the huge selection and worked within her price range to find her exactly what she wanted. Brett was also readily available with some comic relief and more information. Not only did the guys get us both the boots we wanted and some other things, they were also ready with BBQ and Mexican food suggestions. It was my first time trying to buy boots and when I asked for my size they might as well have told me to give up looking. I was so beyond excited to FINALLY go cowboy boot shopping in San Antonio. On my last trip here, there just wasn't time, so for this much longer adventure, I knew I wanted to get boots for my Cowboy two-stepping adventures! Cavender's was a GODSEND! They have a HUGE selection of western regalia. Boots, clothes, jewelry...apparently there is a bigger one, but I'm almost glad we didn't go there, because between myself and the other girl in my party shopping, we tried on at least 50 pairs of boots and took about 2 hours. The workers kinda mob you when you walk in, I think they must get a commission...I actually hope they do, because our guy, Silvano, was beyond rockstar. He tolerated our need to try on boot after boot, gave helpful insight to us first-time-boot-shopping gringas, as well as just an honest male opinion. When I FINALLY settled on a pair of boots, but said they pinched a little, he stretched them for me. And when I said I wasn't 100% on some white stitching on the sole, he stained it for me. Please, Cavender's, pay this man! And as if a good thing couldn't get any better, when we were there, there was a 2 day survey going on where you filled out a questionnaire and got a $25 gift card! Not a Happy boot buyer . I went on a busy Saturday , but I at least expected a simple Hello. Instead I got nothing. Even though there were two sales people in the section I was in but they were helping other people but they could have said hi someone will be with you. I was there an hour trying on boots I though might work for me. I had total stranger help me instead of the Cavender workers. Again I get it they were busy but not that busy for me or anyone else in my opinion. I ended up trying on some cool boots that I fell in LOVE with but ended up buying them somewhere else. Selection of boots was about average. However the employees and level of service is subpar. Associates are pretty robotic. They are even less helpful when a return or exchange is needed. The girl at the register was pretty abrasive and not at all helpful on my most recent visit. She had very short attitude and was extremely unhelpful. Beware of returning items. They have an absurd return policy where if the boot literally has anything on the sole, they WILL NOT accept it back. Dust on sole? No returns. Worn boot anywhere other than carpet? No returns on footwear that has been worn. Tried to clean the boot so that it's dirty? Too bad you cleaned the boot, no return. Missing a tag? Woops product isn't "new", NO RETURN. The item has to be in literal pristine condition, even if you bought it with some scuffs, THEY WILL NOT RETURN IT. Avoid shopping here if you can for anything and go to a western wear store that isn't overpriced. FYI for anyone in San Antonio, I attempted to return on the one at 1604 and Culebra. read more

This Cavender's is a bit cramped for space and seems to have more sale items. It seems to see less volume. That's good news to me! This place has HORRIBLE customer service! I went to exchange a pair of jeans and the girl who helped me did not like that the jeans didn't have tags. I understand that but you can still exchange or return them. Well the girl then says oh they were worn and they weren't then goes on to say I'll exchange them but next time if they are smelling like smoke you can't do it. I'm not a smoker and she automatically assumed since she smelled smoke it was the jeans I was returning. Her name is LAURA LEE don't go to her or that Cavender's.
