My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. We had a fantastic guide who was very knowledgable about the caves, the history, as well as knowledge of the surrounding Waitomo area. On top of a great tour, the advantage of Caveworld is that you can take photographs. This is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that you can (with the right settings and perhaps a tripod) get some amazing photographs of the glowworms and their bioluminescence. Challenge is, most people don't have the right settings and often get results that leave a bit to be desired. Also, you'll see lot's of flashes going off throughout the tour so if you are put off by this, you might consider another "no photography" tour. Ultimately lots of people have great pictures of stalactites and stalagmites but few of the actual glowworms. As I appreciated the option to try to photographs these caves and their inhabitants, I really would recommend Caveworld. read more
We purchased a tour for 10am cave tubing to see the glowworms with Caveworld. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable and provided a fun filled tour for our group. Definitely do not hesitate to book this tour as it the more adventurous way to see the glowworms. You go underneath the caves with your headlights and tubes. They provide all the gear including life jacket suits. You go through a slide and jump off mini waterfalls while admiring the glowworms inside the caves. It was such a memorable experience for us! read more

Pros: Group size was small (11 max) Guide was friendly and smart Got to take pictures inside the caves (if you can - it's hard!) Glow worms are interesting Cons: While the rate is competitive in the area, it's expensive for what you get - $59 for a little over an hour There weren't nearly as many glow worms in the cave as the website photos indicated I wouldn't do it again. read more

We did the Footwhistle Glow Worm Tour because all the other caves in the area were flooded. This is a new cave in the area and has a ton of glow worms to see. Its also the only tour that allows you to take pictures of the glowworms which was awesome. If your looking for a cave experience with glowworms on the less touristy side, this is the one to visit. Our guide was really amazing and our little one that we brought along walked away with a ton of knowledge about caves which was really awesome. Great glow worms and a really cool experience. read more
