Every time I'm in Napa I stop by Caymus to get some Zins They are only available at the vineyard. I LOVE that they do this. This time I arrived shortly after opening at 9:30am Andrew approached me and I asked him some Questions about the single vineyard zins. He asked if I had time to do a little tasting and I enthusiastically said yes. It's kind of unbelievable a big commercial winery would even do this. Kudos to Andrew. It was our first time visiting, and surely won't be our last. We visited on a Thursday, which was nice without the weekend crowds but the best part is the gorgeous garden! We were seated in a nice alcove with a living wall. It was a bit chilly for a late spring/early summer day but I really appreciated that they had blankets for us too! A really nice touch. The space feels very inviting, like a luxurious backyard garden! Steve took great care of us, very nice gentleman who went through the history of the vineyard and the family behind the tasty wines. The winery does not have food though, so it might be a good idea to eat before heading there if you're hungry. It was also a really nice touch that they gave us the wine glasses as a souvenir and applied the tasting fee towards a purchase (which is not hard since everything is so tasty!). Reminds me of what a Napa wine tasting experience used to be like many years ago! A wonderful afternoon experience but be sure to make a reservation ahead of time! read more

I am so happy I decided to book a reservation at Caymus Vineyards. I have tried their wines back home and so when looking for where to go in Napa, I decided on this location. As with all the vineyards, the scenery is beautiful. However, this location also has an elevated elegance, which was just a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. Our server was amazing as she explained the history behind the location and the family who created the wines. All of the wines were absolutely delicious. This was one of the few places that I actually took a bottle home from. The barrel room is beautiful. We sat outside and the ambience was just amazing. This place is a must try spot in a town full of amazing spots. Their hospitality is unmatched and the garden area makes you feel like you're in a small town outside Italy or France. Our host, Michell, kept the tasting fun and light with factoids about the winery and the family. I love how they always bring something out that seems like it's a secret and nobody else is trying it. We went home with a few bottles of some early wines that are only available at that winery so their pitch worked. I'm not mad at it. We stopped by Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford after visiting their Suisun location and were really glad we did! The property is absolutely beautiful. There's plenty of parking and both indoor and outdoor tasting areas, which gives you some nice flexibility depending on the weather. We didn't have a reservation, but that wasn't an issue. We went to the bar area, ordered a couple of glasses and found a cozy spot inside to enjoy them. The pours were generous, and the wine was delicious. It's a great option if you're just passing through and want to take in the grounds without committing to a full tasting. Bonus points for the free water available--it's a small touch, but appreciated. I'm definitely planning to come back for a full tasting experience next time. Review for Caymus - Rutherford Location I'm still in disbelief at how disappointing our experience was at this location. Our original reservation was for the Suisun location, but due to a fire there, our tasting was moved to Rutherford. We didn't anticipate how much farther this drive would be compared to Suisun City, which forced us to rearrange our entire day -- including our other vineyard tastings and lunch plans -- to the Rutherford/St. Helena area. On top of that, heavy traffic and an accident caused a 30-minute delay. Out of courtesy, I called ahead to let them know, and the woman I spoke to assured me it would be fine and that our tasting would simply be shortened. I appreciated that understanding -- until we arrived. Upon walking in (yes, 30 minutes late as discussed), the hostess coldly informed us that our reservation had been cancelled. She showed zero empathy, didn't care what I explained, and offered no alternatives. She simply said, "Sorry, too bad," and suggested we go buy wine at the bar instead. At a place like Caymus, I expected at least an attempt to accommodate us or reschedule. The dismissiveness was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a winery. The only reason I'm leaving two stars instead of one is for the bartender, who treated us kindly and with respect. Otherwise, we would never consider returning to this location, nor would we recommend it to others. Extremely disappointing. read more

The place itself is nice, but the staff's snooty, pretentious behavior was not so great. Why? We had an awful experience here. My friend, a monthly visitor, was treated poorly. We had reserved a time for their barrel room. They bumped her reservation to the next day without informing her of the change. They either overbooked their day or someone slipped them some cash to take our reservation. We were not tourists who flew in for a week to just come back the next day. We were on a single-day excursion. What made matters worse was that our friend, who was furious at this point, was receiving responses that they didn't even care that she was furious. The manager brushed her off in the same manner. They wanted us to sit at the bar. They also offered us to sit in the lobby. What is the point? We had reserved the barrel room. That isn't a compromise. The bar and the lobby have zero vibes for people who drove over an hour to experience. Not sure why places think that they can treat people this way. Tracy was incredible! She was so incredibly knowledgeable, made us feel special and her attention to detail was impeccable. Our favorite is still the flagship Caymus Cab and Special Edition. But it was so fun to try a little bit from all of their brands! Especially the SavBlanc as it was so crisp and refreshing! Definitely going to add that to our rotation. We enjoyed the wines that were served and half of my group ended up making purchases. Our host even gave us an extra pout because it was my sister's birthday. I've always wanted to visit Caymus for a tasting, as it's one of my favorite wines. It took six visits to Napa Valley to finally make an appointment, and I'm glad the winery was able to accommodate me and my boyfriend. The tasting room is on the ground with a beautiful garden. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by their friendly staff and taken to a tasting area where rows of wine barrels lined up. We got to taste five different wines from the Caymus family, and the staff shared the history of each wine. Our favorites were their 50th anniversary Cabernet and Zinfandel, so we decided to ship some home. I'm so glad we had an opportunity to visit and taste Caymus wines, and we will be back. read more

I love Caymus wines. Doing a Caymus tasting was a no brainer during my trip to Napa. Unfortunately, they were sold out when I first looked, however, after a quick call they managed to find a spot thanks to a late cancelation. So happy they could fit me in, however, I still had high expectations. Those expectations, well, were met+! You're greeted with a very nice kept sake glass, a bottle of Fiji water, and the list of wines you'll be tasting. It is almost a private tasting as you get seated in your own section of a larger room and provided a tasting guide who basically only oversees a table or two. You'll get your money's worth on the tasting straight-up, especially with a sample of reserve on the list, but why not convert that tasting cash directly into a bottle (or two). That right there is a win-win in my book. read more

Merry Caymus! Brought a friend up for the holidays last minute and had their "per glass" experience bc they were fully committed on tastings. The property is beautifully designed and all the photos/info along the walls and in photos gives a historical glance into the origins! The seating is spread out into different sections but we opted for the bar seating bc we arrived at 4 and last call is 4:30! I visited Caymus Vineyard this past Saturday, and unfortunately my experience was unpleasant with the exception of one staff member who treated us kindly (Jeremy)! When we arrived (group of 3) we didn't have reservations. The hostess politely explained that all reservations for the day were full but informed us that there was an area where we could still enjoy wine by the glass. We were completely fine with that, as we mainly wanted to experience the beautiful vineyard we had heard so much about. However, once we sat down in the by-the-glass area, we immediately noticed a clear difference in customer service between how we were treated and how the guests next to us were treated. After being seated for only a minute, the staff member serving our section approached the other guests, who had arrived shortly after us,and provided them with great service, offering them additional wine options, information about exploring the property, and water. In contrast, he handed us our tab almost immediately without asking if we wanted to keep it open or if we were interested in another glass. We only heard about the option to walk around and take pictures because he mentioned it to the couple next to us. When we asked if we were also allowed to explore and take photos, he said yes, but added "please don't disturb any of the guests", which made us feel singled out. The couple next to us was also offered water, so we asked if we could have some as well. He agreed, but after pouring wine for another customer, he walked away and never returned. We weren't sure if it was intentional or simply forgetfulness, but either way, it added to the uncomfortable feeling. Thankfully, another staff member working in the same area noticed and kindly brought us water and even engaged us in a pleasant conversation. Unfortunately, by that point the earlier interaction had already soured our experience. We finished our glasses quickly, closed our tab, and left the property. Based on this visit, I would not recommend Caymus Vineyard and will not be returning. read more
