The owner wanted to get a slip for a day to fix damage the boat had incurred from a storm we went through. We motored into Puerto Del Rey on December 20, 2025 and stopped at the fuel dock to request a boat slip. We were confident we would get one since there were many open slips we saw while motoring into the marina. After about an hour, the office replied back that there were no available slips and we would have to leave. This is where things went "off the rails." My job as crew was finished, and I had to catch a plane. I got off the boat, but I was told I would have to pay. Pay for what? The boat owner who sat taking up space at the gas dock didn't even have to pay for that time. All I was going to do was walk up to the street and get an Uber to the airport. Nope. The marina sent someone to escort me to the office. As much as I protested, they refused to let me go. I was being held against my will until I paid $139.37. There were no products I purchased and there were no services rendered to me. They wanted me to get in a golf cart for a ride to the office and I even refused that. This marina is excessively expensive. Anyone who stays there knows this. I actually had been there twice before and found their boat slips expensive; although boat owners paid the fee - not me. However, what they did goes beyond "expensive." I bought nothing and received no services. I didn't even use their restroom, but they charged me $139.37 to walk under my own power to the street. If I could afford to buy a boat, I'd put it at Puerto del Rey. This is my favorite Marina. It's…read morelots of fun. Everyone I know who has a boat here is very nice. My father in law used to here a boat here and everyone was nice, even the staff. You don't have to have a boat to enjoy the Marina. There are some boat charter and excursions that operate from here and there are good places to eat. One of them is La Cueva Del Mar which is excellent.
