After I confirmed their services were covered, they gave me the names of the people who were taking new patients and suggested I go online and review their profiles to select a therapist. I've been to a few different places and I feel that this was the easiest and most helpful 'new patient process' that I have had. They call you 2 days before your appointment to remind you - for privacy reasons they call from an unlisted number and leave a voicemail that is vague. For example: "This is a reminder that you have an appointment with (therapist's first name) on (date, time)." There is a 24 cancellation policy - so you'll need to make sure you can commit to the appointments that you make. The inside is professional looking and always very clean. When I walk up to reception I'm always greeted quickly and my appointments always start on time.

Instead I got someone who was abrasive, victim blaming, and compared my problems to her own personal experience and told me she sucked it up and didn't see why I couldn't. I so incredibly confused and she took that to mean I was trying to hide something and said that to me and my family multiple times. Then she told my family some incredibly private thoughts I had shared at first, after she threatened to have me committed if I didn't call them. In the end it helped me see how much it hurt my family, but if I had been leaning more towards suicidal tendencies I would be afraid for myself in that situation. I don't think that person should be trying to help emotionally fragile people.
