I began martial arts classes with Sensei Varasconi simply for self defense. I was a social worker…read morethat had to visit clients in some of Connecticut's most dangerous neighborhoods. What began as a desire to basically be prepared to defend myself turned into a passion. Sensei Tom and Sensei Bob Varasconi are Grand Masters (10th degree black belts) who have more than 35 years of Martial Arts experience. They are both former top ranked fighters, former elite athletes in other sports in addition to martial arts, and certified personal trainers. They combine all of these aspects to provide an incredible training in their style of Hamzys Ketsu-Ka Karate. Their classes incorporate endurance training, cross fit type conditioning, all while providing you with the best combination of martial arts technique and skill for practical self defense. Their dojo has a welcoming atmosphere encouraging students of all skill levels and ages. My quest for learning basic self defense grew into a journey to achieve my black belt, and now it has evolved to continue on the the achieving my Master level rank. I have grown in terms of physical ability and mental ability as well. There is no high pressure approach to joining. You pay a low monthly fee (no contracts!) and can attend as many classes as you would like each week. If you want to learn the best of martial arts from 2 of the best instructors then I highly recommend checking out their school!
