When my son was 4 I started looking into local public and private schools to find a place that…read morewould support his beautiful spirit, embrace his inquisitive nature and be patient with his tendency to wiggle. In two weeks I toured 7 public and private schools. Courtyard was the last school on my list and I almost cancelled because I was a little burnt out and honestly hadn't seen anything major differentiating any of the other schools from one another. But I mustered up the energy to attend the informational interview and I left in love with this school. I went to meet with the principal armed with my arsenal of academic achievement questions and ready to grill him on how he was going to prepare my four year old for college. The principal immediately stopped me and told me first he wanted to tell me about how Courtyard supports social and emotional growth of the children, then we will discuss academics. My jaw hit the floor. A school that fosters social growth and focuses on nurturing its student's emotional well-being? What is this utopia?? I got out my checkbook and left with having secured a spot in TK with the fabulous Ms. Mattson. My son spent a magical year in TK and we thought for kinder we'd try our local school for financial purposes. We made it 8 days into the school year before realizing the mistake we'd made and quickly transferred back. The atmosphere at Courtyard is like walking into a warm hug. The new principal, Principal Krause, is thoughtful, considerate and is the most dedicated principal I've ever seen. I know every day when I drop my son off that he is going to be loved, academically challenged and fed nutritional food (did I mention they have a profession chef who makes lunches EVERY DAY???) I am so thankful every single day that I want to that Courtyard meeting. It is truly such a blessing to my family to have my kids attend this incredible school.

Extremely disappointing experience. We registered and paid for our son a week before camp. At no…read morepoint during registration did anyone notice that he supposedly did not meet the age requirement. We dropped him off on the first day, left the campus, and then received a call telling us we needed to come back immediately to pick him up because he wasn't old enough. If a child is ineligible, the registration should be rejected immediately--not after payment has been accepted, parents have arranged their schedules, and the child has already been dropped off. Having to return and remove your child from camp after they've already started the day is completely avoidable and reflects a very disorganized enrollment process. The age requirement is technically listed on the website, but it's buried in a bullet point and is easy to overlook. More importantly, the registration system should verify a child's age before accepting enrollment and payment. We were left scrambling to find last-minute childcare, and our son was understandably confused and upset after being turned away. Thankfully, another camp was able to enroll him on short notice. This experience left us with the impression that Courtyard School's administrative processes are poorly managed. I hope they improve their registration and enrollment procedures so that no other family has to go through the same experience.

My daughter attends Maryhill Midtown, and I honestly can't say enough good things about this…read moreschool. From the moment we first stepped on campus which is now 5 years ago, it just felt different -- warm, welcoming, and full of energy. The teachers are incredible -- caring, attentive, and truly invested in each child's growth. The curriculum strikes such a great balance between strong academics and creative, hands-on learning. My daughter has grown so much in both confidence and curiosity since starting here and even visits her favorite teacher Ms. Castro. The sports programs are another huge highlight! There's such a great community spirit, and it's clear that the staff..shout out to Mr. Kennedy...values teamwork, leadership, and fun just as much as skill. What I love most is how inviting the environment is. You can feel the pride and positivity in everything from the classrooms to the playground. It's a place where kids are genuinely excited to go to school every day. I love every year they have been introducing new electives from sewing to DnD to even a T Swift club that is engaging for everyone. If you're looking for a school that blends strong academics, great extracurriculars, and a warm community -- Maryhill Midtown is a gem. We couldn't be happier.

From the very beginning, the school has provided a warm, family-like environment where students, parents, and teachers genuinely connect and collaborate. Merryhill's academics are comparable to top performing schools -- accelerated, challenging, and thoughtfully designed to help every student reach their fullest potential. As an Apple Distinguished School, technology and innovation are seamlessly integrated into the classroom, empowering students to think critically, create, and lead with confidence. Beyond academics, the variety of extracurriculars is extraordinary -- from Taylor Swift Club, Sewing, and Pokémon Club to sports and creative arts -- there's something for every child to discover and enjoy. Oh yes and Kids Kitchen ‍ The leadership of Mrs. Kennedy and Mr. Wallis has been remarkable. Their vision, compassion, and commitment to academic excellence create an atmosphere where teachers truly partner with families to nurture both the mind and heart of every student. From daycare at Merryhill Karista through elementary and middle school here at Merryhill Midtown has been a place of growth, belonging, and inspiration. We only wish there were a high school level to continue this incredible journey. Thank you Mustangs Parm Dhillon

Great little preschool! Both teachers are awesome, sweet…read moreand knowledgeable, my son loves going to school. Only 2 classes: morning and afternoon, about 10 kids in the class. They enjoy a huge yard, and a big classroom. Kids don't sit down to trace letters and numbers (although they do learn those too), they learn to be in other kids's company, follow instructions, sit in circle time, play with others and participate in the classroom. Essential stuff at 3, 4 years old.

I love that my daughter is cared for by all of the grown-ups who volunteer in the classroom, and that she has a relationship with each of them. I love that parent education classes are a part of the JMPNS tradition because it makes me feel like we're all figuring out parenting together rather than feeling competitive or isolated. I love that this school is a community project: The school really does reflect the values - of accessibility, equity, cooperation - that are important to the folks who choose to come here, and we're also always experimenting with how to do better. My family is in our second year, and we'll be here for another 2 with our second child!

I call Brookfield a unicorn school. We are parents of three children and I wish we had found out…read moreabout Brookfield for our older son who needed a more challenging educational atmosphere. He is now thriving in high school, but I do wish that we had the experience we are having now with him when he was in elementary and middle school. My middle son is a transfer student to Brookfield and my youngest is starting out at the Preschool. About our experience: First, touring the school my husband and I were so impressed by the diversity, the ideology of the school, the atmosphere and the attentive nature of staff and teachers. Second, the fact that they have a preschool/elementary/middle school in one space is dream for us and the way that each grade level has their own space is also incredible. Finally, we were beyond thrilled that our children are not only learning the standard subjects, but they are also have Spanish, Music, P.E and computers almost everyday. This is above and beyond the majority of schools we have toured and researched. Why I highly recommend Brookfield to families: + Education + Testing prior to acceptance to ensure your child/family will be a good fit for the school and assurance that they will thrive at the appropriate grade level +Diversity + Child care before and after school included in tuition + Spanish, Music, Technology and Physical Education classes almost daily +Teachers and staff have a true interest in your child's best interest + Option to have extracurricular activities before and after school + Caters to children who are in preschool-8th grade + Great playground and outdoor seating + Vibrant student culture + Safe and secure + Excellent communication and online access for parents to teachers and administration The list goes on and on...I am thankful to Dr. Jo and all of the staff for creating such an amazing space. Our children are so happy when they get home and look forward to going back to school each day.
