Most people can finish the small tour and read everything within 10-15 minutes to get a better understanding of this landmark. The many tools and artifacts used in wine making, as well as the techniques in flavor development. There is a wonderful display on art inspired by wine/grapes from local artists (Must-See!) In the graffiti, poems scribbled on the walls, dancers performing on the streets, local bands playing every chance they get... it's great! It's just a shame that the city lacks a cultural center that can hold and give home to this. It's because of that reason that I am a fan of every museum in Tijuana. This is obviously not an exception. You can easily identify the structure of this building miles away. It's huge! The good thing is that there is always a new exhibit on display. They really try to cover all grounds from photography to classical painting. Amazing lecturers as well, the curators do an amazing job at finding just the right talent to bring along. Just as a bonus tip, they do offer some art courses. For more information don't hesitate to contact them since the times/courses are always changing. I'm confident that they are all good though. This exhibition surveys her most iconic photographs, primarily captured in Mexico, but also worldwide. Also, Dutch Paintings on loan from Boston Museum of Fine Arts. I came during the Great Exchange and it was free if you have membership with a participating museum. It's also free for San Diego residents on the third Tuesday of the month. Two things that surprised me: The first being half of upstairs was closed to prepare for new exhibits. Secondly, several Gallery Attendants behaved very strangely and were definitely not friendly or welcoming. There were two different exhibits where I was viewing the museum app on my phone and witnessed the attendants walking around in circles quickly. It was distracting and odd. I got the impression they didn't want me to linger but I ignored them and they finally stopped. I asked a question to another attendant and he seemed annoyed like I was disturbing him. The friendly women security guards were absolutely wonderful! Lastly, free parking was available for several hours as long as you previously registered with the city. There is plenty of free parking. It is a large lot that has both indoor and outdoor exhibits and an IMAX theater indoors. We unfortunately arrived too late in the day to check out the IMAX. It was very deserted, even on a Saturday. The outdoor exhibits focus on trains, flora/fauna and colors/shapes. There is plenty of outdoor space for eating and relaxing. There is also a large lawn area, where they were having birthday party (looked fun!) and I believe they rent the entire museum after hours for weddings, events, 15eras, etc....The inside has all kinds of science and daily living exhibits. There is also a large maker space where kids can create (there is a second art space in the dark exhibit section as well). There is a rock climbing wall, a huge lighted fountain and an orbiter ride in addition to many interactive stations (bubbles, life size chess etc...) It is fun for the whole family. There is also a very high catwalk (I don't recommend this if you are afraid of heights, It is very high and not the sturdiest but fun!). All the attendants are very enthusiastic as well. So why no five stars? 1. Many of the exhibits were broken or partially broken 2. The gift shop needs to get in items for older kids, they have a captive audience but it's mainly little kids coloring books 3. the food is horrible!!! overpriced, overcooked and didn't taste good at all. This was a great outing. Oh one final note they do NOT have A/C they have big fans and the day we went (in mid October) was moderate enough that it wasn't an issue but you may want to go early in the morning if you are going in the summer!

This might be the Millennial in me talking... but there weren't as many photos ops, in my opinion, compared to the other years. There were a few exhibits that I would have liked to see and we signed up for the wait list on the tablets, but it said there were over 100 people waiting, we never got a text back, and then ended up leaving. It seemed like there were a lot of people just waiting around the common areas and I'm assuming it's for those exhibits. On the plus side, it was indeed fun. They serve red and white wine (right under $9), which we ordered and made the trip a blast ;) The exhibits that we did see, especially with the lights and colored yarn, were awesome. I just didn't favor the one in the dark room where you hear a bunch of cars crashing over and over...it got me paranoid... but hey it's art. "Rainbow Room" allows you to live among the different colors and textures of life. "Where Thoughts Go" provides you with a VR experience of hearing other's intimate thoughts and life experiences and sharing your own before drifting away. The collection of art displayed and your experience with each is immeasurable, unforgettable and definitely worth visiting over and over again. Looking forward to seeing more this.

Just recently we were there right before Christmas and they had the most extraordinary collection of handmade ornaments. We were there once before when they had a concert of different people playing the piano and it was stunning. Absolutely lovely to walk around and enjoy the art while you listen to the beautiful music. My favorite painting in the Timken is a gorgeous French piece from the 1700s. I stopped by to see it every time and I always see something new in it. There is also a great collection of early American art, and one day when we were there a docent was giving a talk about the different pieces and the meanings behind them.

It wasn't crowded so we were able to take our time in admiring the details and history of each wonderfully preserved art piece.
