It was dimly lit and quiet. Breakfast was cheap. The service was exceptional. This is where I sampled a full Irish breakfast. Bacon, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, black pudding and bread. I dreaded trying the black pudding because it is made with cooked and congealed blood from cattle or pigs. For me at least the thought of eating congealed blood was unappealing but I wanted to at least try it. It's been a breakfast staple for the Irish and the British for many years. It taste like a normal sausage to me. Our lattes were delicious. The pancakes were good but tough and the french toast was basic. Their bacon is very meaty and tasty. The eggs were cooked perfectly.

However the only one we did not like surprisingly was the carrot cake. It was just weirdly dense not cakie and like juicy its a bit weird to explain but just wasnt our favorite. Having had brunch here previously, heading here for lunch was something I was excited about. It was very busy this time round so service was understandably a little slower. We did have a short wait for a table but it really wasn't long till we were seated considering it was peak lunching hour. Oh my word. Sandwich heaven. I had the bacon and mozzarella baguette with hot salsa and guacamole and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of cheese, lots of bacon, lots of yum. However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life. My husband got the eggs Benedict and he was pleased it had black pudding in the middle, very Scottish food of course. He did not care for the hollandaise sauce as it had a sweetness to it. I wasn't super hungry as I was saving room for our lunch at 1pm. I got two poached eggs and toast. The poached eggs were a bit runny for my liking. Overall though this is a great cafe and I like the layout. The service was very friendly. They were setting up a bunch of reserved tables for what looked like a fancy lunch. I spied two women opposite who'd gone for some kind of meringue creation - the top and bottom meringues were separated by around 8" of filling. The scones are the size of two fists. My cake and cuppa was £5.30 which, to me, isn't cheap. But I'd still go back. My wife had the fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy, cheesy, served over toast with bacon and hash browns. This is something she gets often, and she has had none better than the ones here.
