Wonderful family style with a great deal of repeat business and people know each other. Food was excellent as was the service.

We had a fabulous b-day dinner at Cecil and Lime out on the outside porch. We started with the bruschetta, the tomatoes topping is sweet and peppery, delicious. Then we got salads: I got a wedge salad and Richelle got the Cecil house salad. Wonderful salads plenty of dressing. Then for dinner go big for a b-day: We got the tomahawk ribeye, from Woodruff farms, cooked perfectly medium rare by the staff. This was our first tomahawk ribeye, it's impressive and enough for two with leftovers. Blue cheese dip for the ribeye, yes; cold or hot, that's the question! Richelle got the Mac-n-cheese for a side, a good choice. For desert we had the tuxedo cake with ice cream and berry sauce. The staff put a candle in the cake and sang happy birthday to Richelle. This is a locally owned very nice GOURMET dinner restaurant, with fantastic staff and relaxed atmosphere. Service is top notch, waitstaff is friendly and informative. The waitstaff answered all our questions and made suggestions to make dinner out special. They bring your check in a book, so you can sign the guest book. This is their 21st year in business. We even got to chat with the owners who stopped in for dinner, and sat outside next to us. read more

What a wonderful evening. Our party of eight celebrated a birthday at Cecil and Lime, and everything--from service to atmosphere--was excellent. Most impressive was how perfectly executed every dish was--the filet perfectly medium-rare, the salmon and lamb were flawless and cooked true medium and tender, the lasagna excellent, the potatoes au gratin beautifully caramelized, and the asparagus crisp-tender with a perfect char. Truly outstanding execution across the board. The restaurant matches any fine-dining spot in Dayton-Springfield but with a lively instead of stuffy atmosphere. A singer-pianist duo played jazz standards, adding a nice touch. Pricing was also very fair for the quality: most entrées were in the high $20s to $30s (the filet higher), while comparable places would be $10-$20 more for similar meals. For anyone in the Dayton-Springfield area, this is absolutely a destination. Enjoy! read more

I know that I've seen that they will be moving not sure how much longer they will be on East soul but I'll tell you the lasagna they used to have on their menu was so good so disappointed they took it off the menu. I wished them nothing but luck and their next adventure. read more

Cute place and food was okay. We started with the bruschetta- do not order it. It is very sweet and tastes like it was from a can. The Cecil House salad was really good! Next was the prime rib which was good and cooked perfectly (J. Alexander's still best prime rib). Definitely order the potatoes au gratin they were amazing and probably the reason I gave this place three stars and not two. For dessert I ordered the chocolate which was really dry. My friend ordered the chocolate mousse and it was wonderful. Overall it was an okay meal nothing to rave about. read more

Service was great but food is sub-par. The prime rib and grouper were overcooked and under seasoned. I might as the prime rib must be cooked in a single order, which shouldn't be the case. The scallops were not seasoned well either, and risotto was bland. The crème brûlée was good and the bruschetta was great. The price for food is WAY overpriced. The question would have to be, where was Cecil? It was amateur hour in the restaurant as they prepared for Cecil's return! Realizing this we did not comment on the appearance of the hostess with the dirty stained clothing, the unprofessional handover to our waiter who struggled to discuss the menu and specials (turned out someone asked the bar man to serve tables) or the wait staff who came to take our order and became unsure if they were supposed to waiting on our table. The bar man who began our service was last seen entering a door labeled "Toilets" and appeared to disappear for way longer than it would take to go to Krogers and buy the bottle of wine. While waiting for the mediocre meal we had ordered, we were brought a few pieces of white bread and a bowl of seasoned oil; as the time passed we sat somewhat lonely in the dining area and counted the minutes click bye. Where is Cecil? Is no one directing this farce? Surely service could be improved; evidently the wait staff training has been interrupted and they have gone to help in the kitchen where a mad scientist is wondering how to price the menu. Oh yes! it's all priced individually, quite complicated to figure out the meat, add a price for the sauce and another for the veg and if you forgot a starter it's time to get an adding machine from Goodwill! Cecil, we are past the hour mark and still waiting on you or our food to appear ... then it came, we hoped you would not! Let's hope when the show finishes rehearsals and you walk out on stage it will be a better experience for all, rehearsed lines, the ballet choreographed , the presentation perfect and the ticket prices matching the product. As I entered the restaurant I realized that the last time I ate here was pre-Covid about four years ago . When I was leaving I was thinking I coming back soon. It was a wonderful dining experience. The food was exceptional. From the appetizer, main course and dessert, it was first class all the way. Well cooked and hot. Presented well. The wait service was exceptional! Our waitress treated us like royalty. She was committed to make our dining experience the best we ever had. She succeeded. Since my last visit they have added an outdoor dining area which looked nice. We chose to dine inside. I was happy to see that they have kept their table distances. I hate eating elbow to elbow. Space between tables is very adequate . Ambiance is quite nice. Not noisy and nicely decorated. If in Springfield OH, give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Springfield OH was our half way mark on our recent roadtrip. We always try to visit a local eatery and Cecil and Lime was our choice. This is a white table cloth restaurant, but casual dress is accepted. There were dinner specials including duck, elk, and bison dishes that sounded delish. We decided on the Bruschetta as our appetizer and we both had Caesar salads. I had my heart set on salmon and my spouse chose their pork chop. With my entrée I chose the vegetable of the day, grilled asparagus and my spouse picked their mac and cheese. The salmon came with either honey-ginger or lemon-dill sauce. My choice was the lemon-dill. For desert we had crème brûlée. Our waiter was Ken and his service was the best we've had in a long while. In an attempt to find something local and different. I found Cecil & Lime. The food was very good and had a great atmosphere. We started with the smoked trout, which was delicious and reminded me of something that was found near the ocean. All the dressing are house made, which had great flavor with the salads. My wife had the NY Strip Steak, which is really the best value and delicious. I had the Ribeye Steak which was very good. This place is definitely worth the stop. We were staying in Yellow Springs for a long weekend and found this place for dinner. I had read all the great reviews. We had the candied jalapeño dip to start. It's different and delicious. Sliced jalapeños that are bathed in sweetness and poured over a cream cheese type base and served with toast points. I had already decided on the salmon before we went but their special was halibut piccata and I couldn't pass. Halibut is my favorite fish and piccata is one of my favorites. It was a huge piece of fish, cooked perfectly. It was moist and delicate and the piccata was very flavorful. I had crème brûlée for dessert. I've had a lot of crème brûlée but was made this one even better was that it was served at a perfect temperature. The place is cozy and there is decent sized bar and a piano, although no one was playing. I only gave 4 stars because the service was a bit slow. We will come back if we are in the area again. read more

I was so excited to eat at a non-chain restaurant while Springfield. The building and atmosphere boded quite well to what was in store. The wine list was reasonably priced and there were specials that sounded intriguing. The smoked salmon appetizer was perfectly good and the following salads were fresh. The parmesan-peppercorn dressing was good. The issue was the tri-tip entree special. The meat was sliced, then cooked. Each slice over seasoned and over cooked. Early like jerky. The vegetable of the day, green beans were also very salty. Two of the three specialty sauces were pretty good but the au poirve sauce was broken and unexpectedly sweet. Not what we expected. Until now my experience with restaurants in Springfield (Ohio) has not been positive. Lobster bisque fondue, jumbo pork chop (with smoke Gouda and berry sauce), green beans (shared), potatoes au gratin (shared), and cheesecake mousse with berry. We dined at Cecil & Lime for the first time on a Saturday evening. Being from out of town, I only had the reviews of my fellow Yelpers on which to rely. I had made reservations for 7 p.m. I was a bit apprehensive arriving 20 minutes early as the parking lot was half empty but there were a number of guests dining inside. We were promptly offered a table but it was next to the piano so requested a seat in the second dining room which is an enclosed porch. Our request was accommodated and I'm glad it was. Piano music started around 7 p.m. Though the music was wonderful, it would have been much too loud seated next to the piano and perhaps in the main dining room. Other reviews mention outdated decor but I found nothing wrong with it. Gluten-free options are also referenced. While there are gluten-free items available, there is not a separate gluten-free menu or substitutions available. Our server, Misty, was not familiar with what menu items may not be gluten-free but, to her credit, did make the effort to ask the chef on my wife's behalf. Our service for the remainder of our visit was excellent with our server being pleasant as well as attentive without being intrusive. The food was also excellent. We've been grounded and now we can buy food and eat it in a restaurant. It's the best way. And there's no place like this, you can't get a better night out anywhere. There are things I really like about this restaurant... Everybody is always smiling, everybody. The food is great A+++. We took our 17 year old grandson and now all the adult grandkids and nieces and nephews want to spend time with us. That will be fine. Wife and I dined here for the first time last night. We had a reservation for 5:30, wasn't really needed but the restaurant did fill up quickly, by six most tables were full. We began with the Calamari. There was a substitute from what was on the menu. The Calamari was sautéed in a parmigiana type sauce, it was good, nice alternative to the normally breaded and fried style of preparation. For the main course I had the Sea Scallops over a lobster sauce. The scallops were prepared just the way I like them. The lobster sauce was also very good. Our server was excellent and attentive without being annoying. Our only negative was the excessive noise from the bar area. There was a female patron who seemed to have begun celebrating St. Patrick's day a bit early and she had an annoying laugh that was noticed by several other patrons. read more

We wanted to celebrate a birthday & graduation, so we looked for a very nice place in-between Columbus & Dayton. We found it in Springfield at Cecil & Lime's!! It was beyond expectations! Physically, it has a large, handy, & partially shaded parking lot with a handicap ramp available to the front entrance. Inside it's extremely well decorated & designed for whatever type of dining atmosphere you might be looking to enjoy! There's a low lit main dining area adjacent to the piano & bar; an enclosed sun porch, or an open covered patio with bar. Staff wise - extremely friendly, prompt, & entertaining!! They present a positive, fun, personal, & memorable experience!!!! Food wise - not sure if there are different menus for the fine or outdoor dining areas. Indoors it's an a La carte style. From soup to end, items were extremely tasty!! Our orders ranged from vegetarian to steaks, pork chop, & lasagna. Also recommend their potato augratin side. Stopped in on our way back home to NJ. My fiancée and I are from the NY Metro Area and a little spoiled when it comes to good food. Cecil and Lime can seriously rival any NYC restaurant. The restaurant was designed and decorated with such attention to detail. It was warm and inviting and the staff was friendly and attentive. Two restaurant regulars dining at the table next to us let us know that we we would not be disappointed! They were not kidding. The food was excellent! I had the Ahi Tuna and it was seared to perfection. The presentation instantly made my mouth water before I even took my first bite. These guys will nickel and dime you to death. I ordered a cocktail and paid $10.50. High for Springfield, Ohio. I had a burger for $14. High priced, but, it turns out, without notice I was charged an extra dollar because I asked for an unusable dressing on my salad: blue cheese? The waitress asked if I wanted crumbles and I said yes, not knowing that that was an additional dollar. Finally, I had a glass of red wine for $14.00. Again, pretty high for Springfield, Ohio. Oh, and a friend of mine had tacos with nothing on it but meat. When he inquired he was told things like cheese or lettuce or tomatoes on a taco are each a dollar extra. My sister had a Bloody Mary and asked for two olives and they were happy to do that and she was charged a dollar for each olive. Without notice they added a 20% gratuity. I ended up paying $48.99 for a hamburger and a salad and one cocktail and one glass of wine. read more

The food here is shockingly good - well constructed, interesting, with clean flavors and seasonal selections. Kudus, Springfield. Our large group was easily seated in the near-empty restaurant on a Tuesday evening. Food arrived with reasonable punctuality. The appetizers were very interesting - the beer carpaccio stands out in my memory for its unique presentations in little roll-ups. My fish special was very nicely cooked, the flavors were balanced. Nothing was too rich, salty, etc. - a nice break from the usual small-town fare. The interior of this restaurant doesn't match its upscale food - it's very much a comfortable, more pedestrian dining room. There's not much "wow" factor in the interior design, so beware if you're using this for a client dinner, but the food should make up for it. read more

We gave this restaurant two tries because i wanted to like it. They are a white linen "cafe" and advertise themselves as hometown fine dining. The atmosphere is a little dated but Its somewhat comfortable compared to seasons bistro down the road. But on to the reasons i cant give them any more stars and that is the food. The first time we went my wife got a filet which is $28 with no sides. After a side dish and side salad you're in the high $30's. It was rubbish, flavorless and actually a little tough. She was hesitant to cone with me for the second time. This time she ordered a bowl of crab, shrimp and asparagus risotto ($12). Im not joking when i say it came with about a half ounce of crab and shrimp combined. All one could taste in the dish was asparagus. I ordered just a prime rib $26 for the small one with no sides. It was chewy and grey and bland. My wife ordered a riesling with her risotto and it was sweeter than most moscatos. Our server replied that this was simply how this winery's wines are. The restaurant carried no other riesling. So our bill with 2 drinks, a prime rib with no side, a side salad and a side of risotto was $64. Your prices are a statement to your customers, at $26 a la carte for a small prime rib, you are matching columbus' best restaurants prices. You are saying " our food is premium." Im sorry, but what your food told me was "i dont care anymore." I advise the owners to go to Hudson 29 in columbus, eat their prime rib and ask yourself for $31 (this includes an awesome side) "am i even coming close to their quality??" read more
