I was staying on campus for a few days and decided to visit the botanical garden for a nice walk. I…read morewas pleasantly surprised with the amount of flowering plants as the weather was still quite cold. The trail map was easy to follow and there were multiple areas to explore. I was fascinated by the medicinal herb area as each plant described the ailments it could treat. There was also a large area for growing produce that is being used to feed needy people in Vancouver. A portion of the trail is paved and there are also trails that are mostly mulch. It takes about 2 hours to cover the whole garden if you go at a leisurely pace. There are restrooms throughout the garden and the staff is very friendly. The parking lot is spacious and the parking rates are inexpensive. I believe it was $1.50 CA per hour. The google maps did route me to the back of the garden (no parking or entrance) so you may have to loop around to get to the front entrance. There is an information booth right in the front and the staff will give you a quick explanation of the layout of the place.

There were not many visitors so the views were unspoiled and magnificent. We visited specifically the Physic garden full of medicinal plants and the Food garden with edible plants. In the Physic garden, many varieties of herbs and medicinal species were showcased. Each is separately labelled for its uses and origin. As it's early in the season, the Food garden only had some hardy seedlings planted including onion, kale, cabbage, broccoli, rhubarb and Brussell sprouts. The dwarf apple bushes were just showing new leaves. Accordingly the produce harvested from this garden will be donated to charity. Even in early May the azaleas were in full bloom and prints a colorful picture. Tulips were at their last stage but still provide a rainbow of colors. There are hiking trails through the wooded area within the garden . You can easily spent 3-4 hours wondering through the park like setting studying the wide collection of plant species and enjoy the view! There is a parking lot nearby with minimal charge for parking. Entrance fee is very reasonable and discounts are available for seniors and children. Fees are in Canadian dollars so it's an added bonus for US visitors.

Only just discovered this gem about a little over a week ago, and it only took us about a week to…read moreget back here again. Food and drinks are good, and with that peaceful patio out in the back that overlooks the ocean...how could we not fall in love with this place? So this time round, two of us ordered the Grilled Cheese Sandwich with spicy Tomato Jam, one person ordered the breakfast sandwich with souffle egg again along with a brownie, and another person ordered a Pecan Caramel Sticky Bun. For drinks we had Latte, Honey Chai Latte, Slushy and a Thai Iced Tea. There was a sign on the counter advertising the Thai Iced Tea, along with another feature drink. On our previous visit which was only one week earlier, they had two different drinks featured back then. So I'm curious as to how often they change their drink specials. Do they change them every week? Or is it every month that they change, cuz one week earlier it had been July, and this second visit of ours which was only one week later, was in August. The Grilled Cheese Sandwich was very filling. I could only eat half. Not sure why they say "Spicy Tomato Jam" cuz I didn't find the jam to be spicy at all. This was a good thing in my opinion though, cuz I really wasn't after this sandwich for the spice. I was more interested in the cheese part of it, and it was delicious. I brought my leftover half back to my mom's house and put it in her fridge. Forgot to take it with me before heading back home and I am kicking myself for it, cuz I really wanted to finish that sandwich! I will for sure be trying the Breakfast sandwich next time. My daughter had recommended it since our first visit, and she's ordered it twice now, so it's got to be good!

I'm still thinking about that apple oat cake... and yes, I went back for the iced matcha twice in one week. It's a cute and cozy cafe you can go to read a book, get work done, or catchup with friends. 2232 Marine Dr. Unit 102, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1KR 8am-4pm The best thing about this coffeeshop is the free street parking, because most places in the lower mainland don't have free street parking on the same block as the cafe. The con: no plugs. The only available charging ports were usb ports so I couldn't charge my laptop. Food 5/5 Parking 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 4/5 (the first time I visited I only got a matcha iced latte so the service was good. The second time I visited I got an iced matcha latte, a cake, and a sandwich. I got my iced matcha and the cake within 5-10 minutes but they forgot my sandwich. I thought they were warming it up and since they suddenly got busy I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But after 20-25 minutes I noticed no one was behind the counter anymore. I went and inquired about my sandwich and they said they likely forgot. She apologized and warmed up my sandwich and brought it to my table. The individual taking my order seemed new so maybe he forgot to take it out of the fridge to warm it up. )
