Tulip season is gorgeous and I had no idea there were so many varietie. Same with their sunflowers which are spectacular. My favorite is summer when they have such a huge variety of different flowers. They have gorgeous flower bouquets that you can call and order and the prices are fantastic or on Saturdays you can go to the local farmers market and pick out your favorite bouquets plus they have amazing honey, lavender syrup, sachets and other hand made item. I have gotten beautiful pumpkins decorated with their dried flower, dried lavender that they grow and dried flower bouquets that are still perfect after 2 year. The sisters, Stacy and Barbara are so friendly and love talking to them. It is also a wonderful place to take family photos with all the flowers and trees In the background. We will be visiting again and are looking forward to all the beautiful flowers

Located in Boonville…read morein the Triad area, it was about 2 hours away from the me but most of it was a straight shot on I-40. During the tour, you get to learn about alpacas (what they're like, alpacas in the states, etc.) and interact with them as well. You can pet some of the more cuddly ones (they'll tell you which spots the alpacas prefer) and feed them hay. The farm has quite a few other animals from the people-friendly dogs that greeted us to chickens and ducks that you can hold if you feel comfortable. Our experience was definitely worth the $12/person cost!

If you call a bed in a tent with no potable water, no access to electricity, an in tent "cookstove"…read moreyou would never use in the late spring, summer or early fall, no privacy (tents spaced no more than 30 feet apart), a showerhead that delivered one gallon of water in several minutes (measured in an effort to have enough water to at least wash our hands), the second shower was out of service and "state of the art" toilets that were out of water by 7AM on Sunday morning (we arrived Friday evening), then Glamping at Purple Alpaca is for you. There are nice fire pits with grills at each site and we did bring our own firewood so we cooked on those. "Firewood" is on site but it consisted of moldy, unsplit pine logs. It rained Saturday in the early evening turning the area in front of and around the tents into a quagmire of mud, simple wood chips at least in front of the tents to keep down the mud would have been nice.

There were plenty of activities for children, a s'mores station, snacks, and free coffee and cider. There was also a local vendor who was selling her homemade jewelry and clothing - very cute stuff! Of course along with this there were pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, and people there to haul them onto a wheelbarrow and into your car for you. A professional photographer was there taking photos, and one couple got engaged during the photo shoot! I left just as people were gathering around the stage to hear some "spooky stories" and it looked like all the children were very excited. All in all, Dock Southern Farm was a lot of fun and I look forward to going again and bringing my niece to enjoy all the activities!

We had the opportunity to attend the Yadkin Valley Grape Festival today…read more We really did not know what to expect but were overall very impressed. This is an event put on by the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce. Today was the 19th Annual Yadkin Valley Grape Festival. It is held the third Saturday of October and this year happened to be October 21, 2023. The event is located in Downtown Yadkinville at 205 S Jackson Street from 11am to 5pm. Admission is FREE to the event but wine tasting tickets are $20 before the event, $25 at the event. The tickets provide a wine glass and as far as we could tell, unlimited tastings at any of the 15 or so wineries in attendance. In addition to the wineries, there were also multiple food trucks, live music and other vendors. My wife and I walked around checking everything out, listened to live music and tried a few different wines at several booths. We were most impressed with the Carolina Heritage Vineyards and Winery which is the first USDA-Certified Organic vineyard and winery in North Carolina. My wife has often gotten headaches from drinking wine. The gentleman at this booth said he absolutely guaranteed she would not get a headache based on the organic nature of his process. We also appreciate they are a veteran-owned, family-owned business. We were very surprised with their Apple Pie wine which is a sweet, spiced wine made from fermented North Carolina apples, mulled with almonds, cinnamon and raisins making it smell and taste just like apple pie. THIS WAS AMAZING! We ended up buying two bottles of the Apple Pie wine for ourselves and a bottle of the Trailside Red for our friends. We are excited to go home and enjoy our bottles and also plan a visit to their winery in Elkin. We also spent some time at the booth for Green Mesa Blueberry Farm. They are not a winery but they have several very good items made with blueberries like salad dressing, jelly, jam and salsa. We first found out about Green Mesa two years ago on the 4th of July when we followed a sign from Booneville advertising Blueberry milkshakes. They had a stand on the roadside by the blueberry farm and were making blueberry milkshakes, delicious. My wife purchased two bottles of the salad dressing today and we spoke to her about planning a visit in the summer. A big thank you to the sponsors and organizers of this event. Well done!

The cost was $59/person for a group of 4+ (this does not include any tastings or food). We ended up selecting Trip F: Elkin Creek Vineyard, Slightly Askew, Raffaldini Vineyards and Menarick Vineyards. Our driver, Johnthan, picked us up promptly at 10:30 to get us to our first tasting of the day. He was with us all day taking us to each of the wineries and was very accommodating.
