This was done both as a change of scenery and to escape the very bright sun that day. Within the park, we saw a handful of groups doing tai chi, some students, and a handful of runners. Among other things, there was a nice statue of King Edward VII on horseback. I feel like if I went to the university right nearby here or worked in the museums or government buildings, this would be a nice place to relax in.

I…read morewas emmersed in nature taking in the vast varieties of flowers, plants, herbs and veggies growing in the raised beds I often recommend growing in. The unexpected treat was seeing lots of turtles and goldfish in that picturesque environment. I took tons of pics, which I have since made a beautiful birthday card collage with! I was excited to hear they have a community garden, which has 100+ people on a waiting list plus you can voluteer. They also have a farmer's market, which I look forward to checking out one day. It's a joyful quiet nature haven and I took lots of deep breaths to fill my lungs with all that good healthy air!

There is a central gezebo with paths and walkways radiating out toward the perimeter. This is a wonderful place for a casual stroll surrounded by one of Toronto's most charming formal gardens.

Unlike most parks, you'll find no grass or benches here. What used to be a parking lot is now filled with gardens, native plant species, prairie meadow, marsh, and trees. A silver-coloured metal structure houses a waterfall bordering one side of a courtyard. At the other end you'll find a rock "outcropping" (a 650 ton rock, coaxed out of the Canadian Shield and reassembled in the park) The park draws many visitors, tourists and is a great place for celebrity sightings during the Toronto Film Fest. Workers (like me!) eat lunch and people-watch at the bistro tables and chairs scattered throughout the park.

As we got to Trillium park, to my surprise, a non-profit organization was hosting a concert with small artists and djs. They had gorgeous decor set up, vendors lined up, and wonderful new music to discover. From further down the trail, there was an unreal view of the CN tower and all Toronto buildings. I cant even describe the feeling of such pretty scenery in the summer, it created a huge sense of joy and nostalgia. If you're looking for a casual stroll, or even a jog, and unbelievable views, this is a great place to check out!

Not the park to bring your kids. Or so I was told. I mean, sure there were a few baseball games…read moregoing on and a bathroom to bat. Following the path a bit of ways, we were greeted by the loud screams of a woman in a tent alternating between french and english. Obviously upset in whatever she was going on about. Up the hill a little more. I was informed it was ok to crack a beer and smoke a smoke because it's one of the parks where it's ok? I have no idea if this is true for I was naive enough to take the word of my bud, but as I looked around, not a single kid in sight. I'm told they have drum circles here where they put pyramids on their head and play light language... sounds right up my alley, minus any intoxicants in that type of thing. Anyhow, buggest skeeter I ever saw, made me keep moving until I found myself elsewhere in DT.

The cherry blossoms at Trinity Bellwoods are a bit like Toronto itself--gorgeous, chaotic, and…read moreoverhyped in the best way. The trees line a picturesque stretch of the park, and when they're in full bloom, it feels like the city collectively remembers to stop and breathe for a second. Pink petals, sunshine (if you're lucky), and everyone suddenly becoming a photographer. Of course, you're sharing the moment with about half of Toronto. Between the throngs of selfie-takers, dogs in sweaters, and folks sprawled out pretending it's warmer than it is, there's plenty of entertainment even if the blooms are a bit past their prime. My advice? Don't expect Kyoto-level serenity. But do expect a lively, local take on hanami--Toronto-style. Grab a coffee, people-watch, and enjoy the fleeting beauty before the blossoms (and your patience) are gone for another year.

I loved the giant hibiscus - Ive actually never seen one that's white with fuchsia! Absolutely beautiful No music on the Monday afternoon that I went... I continued east and went on my way...it was lovely to venture through and recommend taking some time to enjoy the lush gardens if you're in the area.

(Visited 09/14/2025 SU @ 3:30pm): A grand city park with a wide range of things to explore!…read more It was the final day of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival when I decided to venture a bit further north from the main area and came upon Grange Park. This last day of the film festival was a relaxed one as all festivities were wrapping up, so a leisure stroll through this park was a nice way to decompress and reflect on my time here. Grange Park was originally part of The Grange estate built in 1817 by the Boulton family, who played an influential role in developing the young city of Toronto. The area itself now known as Grange Park served as the Boulton family's front lawn. The elliptical path for carriages leading to the front door of The Grange remained as a heritage feature in the park today. In 1910, Harriet Boulton Smith bequeathed The Grange estate to the newly founded Art Museum of Toronto (now the Art Gallery of Ontario), for the purposes of building an art museum. In 1911, the Art Museum entered into an Agreement with the City of Toronto to operate the land south of The Grange as a public park. This agreement remains in place between the AGO and the City. Harriet Boulton Smith's generosity has been recognized with a ceremonial dedication of part of John Street, from Stephanie to John as 'Harriet Boulton Smith Way'. In the mid-1970's, Grange Park was expanded through the closure of Grange Road (from Beverley to John) and John Street (from Stephanie to Grange Road). Today, constant maintenance, revitalization, and upkeep was needed to uphold the public park's appearance due to more visitors. Did I enjoy my time as I parked it here and ranged it from one end to the other!? PURCHASE(S) None to speak of although I recalled a handful of cart vendors who hawked their wares. SERVICE I noticed a couple of groundskeepers who helped to keep the place clean. Otherwise, there was nothing else that required service on a personal level - 'nuff said. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was constantly in the area all day throughout the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Grange Park was an accessible, beautiful two-hectare green space in downtown Toronto, with an expansive grassy area for outdoor activities and relaxation, a children's playground, many trees that offered shade, a dog area, the original manor, water features, artwork, and more. Plenty of natural lighting (obviously!) while electric post lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while the sounds of conversations, playing children, and street traffic wafted in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Grange Park was a nice find within the hustle and bustle of the city and acted as a calming soothing refuge for me on my final full day in Toronto. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so everyone appeared to be out and enjoying themselves here as they sunbathed, played games, had a picnic, read, and people-watched. There were restroom facilities, trash bins strategically placed, and no signs of homeless people. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00CAD BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, generally speaking there was no need for my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Visiting a cemetery is not something I do for fun pre-COVID, but I'm glad I went there for a walk for once. Many tombstones from ages ago are wearing away, and I'm wondering whether their descendants still visit them. You can walk along a path with flat-to-the-ground headstones flanking either side into an area shaded by trees. I also saw Jack Layton's monument, with a headstone sculpture of his face. I see people have left some flowers recently. Super cool as I did not know his gravesite is there! Riverdale Farm was closed when I was there, but I could still peek at the farm animals outside the gate. I was there just after they announced on the news that someone stole Juniper, the baby goat! I believe I saw mama and the siblings there? The gates are not high... so I can see how a rascal can jump the fence and take a goat. Like who does that?! Cemetery and a park walk are not the first things that come to mind, but it reminds me that when I open my mind to unique experiences, I'm most of the time pleasantly rewarded.

It's super fun when the park hosts the Greenspace for pride. Best to get there early before the…read morelong lines, especially on the first and last day of pride events. However, during the rest of the year, the park is mostly utilized by the unsheltered and those in need of social support as a place of reprieve.
