This show was organized very well and if it was your first time going like me they made it very simple to get in and register with plenty of people directing from the time you enter downtown to where to park your car. $10 entry gets your entry to the show, this year's plaque as a souvenir and a free drink or a beer. Mibbs & Vivs was on the street selling drinks and sandwich's along with various food trucks including bbq and Mexican so drinks and eats were plentiful. The cars were probably In the 300 range but 11am and scattered on streets, grassy lot, parking lots etc so this one was big with a lot of walking. The cars ranged from regular old grocery getter to drag cars and everything in between. Condition ranged from rusty patina to 100% show cars that you could eat off of. Someone even brought a big rig that was better than new condition, 100% show truck. This was just good old fashioned family fun with tons of people from toddlers to seasoned citizens just enjoying the event. My department at work has just 5 people and three of us have collector cars so I ran into my co worker while enjoy the cars and the beautiful day. This was a great car show and one of the best ones in the area so far this year with so many being cancelled and I'm just glad that it was not canceled because people need to get out and start living life again.

But if you are going to have a "Pancake Breakfast" and charge $11.00 for it, then it should be worth it. Two tiny rubbery pancakes, an ice cream scoop of nasty powdered eggs and sausages that have more salt than the Bonneville salt flats, well it was disgusting to say the least! I could have got 3 times better for 1/2 the price at McDonalds. Next is the number of obnoxious cars with straight headers out the side, they should not be allowed, period. These "A-holes" do not impress anyone but rather annoy people and scare children. They have no respect. Then to be sure about the "A-hole" factor, they start these nasty cars up every 45 minutes. Obnoxious cars do not belong at a show like this. We also have a serious problem with the parking attendants. Seriously, map out a plan ahead of time rather than hap hazard plopping of cars anywhere with people setting up tents and such where ever they feel. And the most dangerous element is that no thought what so ever was given to foot traffic. Cars and people were fighting for the same entry and exit space. You need a clear foot path away form cars. Somebody is going to get hurt! Come on folks, you can do much better!!

Situated in an upscale neighborhood in suburban Fox Point is a one and one-third lot on the west…read moreshore of Lake Michigan. On this lot is a modest home that belonged to Mary Nohl. What makes it unique is Ms. Nohl's collection of sculptures, silhouettes and paintings that surround the cottage and are part of it. Technically it is named the Mary Nohl Art Environment but in popular lore it is also known as "The Witch's House". Mary L. Nohl was born in 1914, the youngest of three children. Her father, Leo Nohl was a noted attorney in Milwaukee. In 1924, he purchased this parcel of land on the shore of Lake Michigan to build a summer home for his family. Mary graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1938 and started a career as an art teacher in Baltimore junior high schools. Unhappy as a teacher, she gave up teaching and returned home to pursue her art. She ran her own commercial pottery studio for 10 years. When the studio was in the path of what is today I-43, she closed it and returned here, where she stayed. (Her oldest sibling died as an infant and her famous brother, marine engineer Max Nohl, died in a tragic head-on collision in 1960.) Her mother passed away in 1968, leaving her the home on the shore of Lake Michigan and enough of a fortune to live out her life and pursue her artwork. She created sculptures with concrete, stone and tree trunks. Her whimsical subjects were mystical creatures, fish, children, mythical structures, couples and a miniature Easter Island display comprised of four sculpted Moai-like heads. If you were fortunate enough to visit this home, you would also have seen groups of stylized figures and architectural structures. Ms. Nohl's reclusive nature and unusual artworks were the subject of numerous urban myths. She was rumored to be a witch ("The Witch of Fox Point") and her home became known as "The Witch's House." Mary took it in stride, even creating a mosaic on her front porch that spells, "BOO!" Her property was the target of many youthful visits, most by the curious, but some visits were from malicious vandals. No matter how many more reasonable explanations were made, the popular culture persisted. The vandalism forced her to put up a chain link fence with barbed wire topping it. Ms. Nohl passed away in 2001. She left her estate to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, her property, and all her artwork to the Kohler Foundation. The Kohler Foundation is a friend of the arts and restores art sites in Wisconsin and around the country. Several of the sculptures were removed to the Kohler Foundation facilities for restoration. Local zoning prohibits the property from being opened as a museum, but the Kohler Foundation maintains the site, it is restoring artwork that needs attention and keeps someone at the property at all times. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation used her gift to fund the Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists program administered by the Bradley Family Foundation. At one time, the Kohler Foundation planned to dismantle Ms. Nohl's home and carefully move it to Sheboygan County. The sculptures were also to be moved and the site recreated in a safe and viewable place. However, the sculptures are too fragile to move and will remain onsite and for now, inaccessible. Parking is virtually impossible and you are not allowed on the property. You can only view the artwork through the fence, but there are coffee table books published about Ms. Nohl and her delightful artworks. Despite the rumors and legends, despite what her neighbors might (or might not) think about her and her home, Mary L. Nohl was a friend of the arts, and dedicated to her work as an artist. She was more than just an artist. Her life was art, and she lived her art, right here on the shore of Lake Michigan.

This was also designated a Milwaukee County Landmark in 2006. The late Mary Nohl was a sculptor and jeweler, and many of her concrete statues are on display at her former house. There are dinosaurs, moai, and spooky walls of faces. Really cool stuff. You can stop by and take pictures, but the works are on private property, so no touching. There is an illegal parking spot nearby that you can use if you want to risk it. Definitely worth a jaunt to this offbeat attraction.

I had a chance to experience this event on a reservoir rd aka twizzler alley this is an open road event with intersection spotters at a few locations hopefully in the future they could have more volunteers help warn bikers as they approach some of the most heavily traveled sections day and night. it made me nervous watching how fast they go and how easy a collision can occur Riverwest is a community that cares. My Milwaukee neighborhood of Riverwest is alive more than usual for a full 24 hours of parties and camaraderie. Anywhere you walk the streets are shut down or at least barricaded off. A buzz is in the air from an event so killer, only a Milwaukee neighborhood nestled on the West side of the river could dare pull it off. All things Riverwest are in full swing, all hands on deck for a truly good time. Most streets are a mayhem of elated pandemonium to show the world or at least Wisconsin how much it means for a neighborhood to come together. Some sleep and others don't. Either way by the time the 24 is up any involved are feeling it. Long live the RW24!

Rate a whole city? It falls in the middle not the best city or the worst city. To be fair it still…read morea small town feel with a joined connected high school on the south east side of town. A strange high school that had two identities sharing one foundation and a field house, and natatorium. After looking back this was a nice town to grow up in. Safe conservative on the other hand its downfall depended on a handful of jobs from big companies which a few come to mind, West Bend co, Mallard, Amity, Gehl co. A few clinics and health care and public education. Not to mention a few grocery stores that also provided jobs as well. As kids we would enjoy regner, ridge run and decorah hills park all year round. Plenty of things to do while on foot, bikes, sleds or skates. The public library underwent major expansion and it was good to see that down had some improvement as well. We have seen the rise and fall of the outlet mall the lack of a local hospital is proof that Aurora and money talks. Stubborn politics that makes the people suffer in the end. Hopefully the new growth of the South bypass and development of paradise drive will continue to sustain and support growth for years to come.

Its home of the original Exclusive Co, there is a West Bend/Regal Ware historical museum and the Museum of WI art to name a few. Smaller shops down town have the small town-walk-shop feel and excellent restaurants as well. Don't forget the Saturday morning farmers market is very popular from holiday to holiday. It has descent schools, a great library, nice parks, community entertainment, frisbee golf course and a beautiful nature conservancy all in the city limits. It is a great town to raise a family; close enough to the big city and far enough to feel safe.

They had a fully synchronized lightshow to about 4 or 5 songs. This is some next level stuff right here. Turn on your radio to get the full effect. Make sure you don't block a driveway. They do a show for Halloween and one for xmas. If the December one is as good as October, I'm going back every year.

The Milwaukee Area Volkswagen Club was invited to display its cars at Cedarburg's Octoberfest…read morecelebration so a group of us made a caravan to the event. I can't restore a car to save my life, but I'm a retro girl at heart so I drive a modern VW Beetle. I appreciate the car's smooth efficient and tiny engine, as well as its modern details and technology. The VW club has embraced me as one of its own. Representing modern among the vintage is a great way to display these vehicles. We had a wonderful time! We set up in a parking lot next to the community center, enjoying the beautiful day and listening to the music. We took part by eating delicious German food and desserts, having a beer or two, wandering through the local market, and also enjoying all of the glorious shops and things to do in historic Cedarburg. It was also fun to share our love of our iconic cars with the folks there who enjoyed seeing them. What a great day!

Spillover II is the statue at Atwater Park. With all art, it's a personal opinion, so in my…read moreopinion this is a lovely piece. Unique, fluid and peaceful. It has enough letters to occupy the space up close but from far away it blends into a mirage. I wonder what the statue thinks of having to stare at Lake Michigan all day. I would try it for a day if I could.
