It's not a hyperbole when I say their gyro is the best gyro I've ever had. Perfect balance of ingredients and sauce. The pita in this sandwich fits like seaweed on a sushi roll. Lamb and chicken are prominently displayed behind the counter - rotating slowly, beautifully, and with admiration by its expert cook and staff. A cork board covered in thank you cards is just to the left of the counter. Reading the notes of gratitude is heartwarming. Their falafel feels like the ideal cookie - extra crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The contrast of textures is delightful. Not dried out at all. Generous on the tahini and thoughtful in packaging to keep it warm and with holes poked in the to-go box to make sure moisture doesn't swamp out the falafel that was just cooked to perfection. Their baklava is not far from what you can order in Israel. Walking into their mom and pop shop feels like walking into a corner store in Lebanon. What a gem to find on vacation! The owners, daughter-father duo, are super friendly and served up delicious shawarma! We stopped by on our way to the nature trails around the area. There is metered parking out front and two outdoor seating tables. At the recommendation of a regular, we got the lamb shawarma combo with hummus and baba ghanoush. The combo (very affordable at $13) came with salad, pita and savory rice. The portion was so big, 2 of us shared 1 order. We've tried many places in NYC and nothing compares to this one as everything is flavorful without being too salty or oily like the ones you find in the city. We asked for the homemade hot sauce, which is a tangy one with chunks of pepper, a must try! We also got a delicious cup of coffee that came in the most beautiful espresso cup. I can't believe I'm writing this, but they should raise the prices on their sandwiches by at least a dollar per sandwich, and it would still be a bargain! Family run Lebanese store front in the charming town of Stroudsburg Pa. Made from scratch, hand held Middle Eastern sandwiches. I liked the thin bread, more like a wrap or a lavash than a doughy pita. Reasonably priced but also a portioned size and not the enormous gyro type that we are more familiar with in this area. The garlic white sauce was a perfect combo with the fresh lettuce and tomato, the lamb souvlaki more jerky like than kabob chunks. The family is from. Took Lynn and has been in the area for 20 years... it's always a pleasure to visit with such warm and friendly owners who take pride in their establishment. In Stroudsburg for the weekend. Stopped by for lunch based on the great recommendations we read. The gyro I had was fantastic, one of the best I've ever had. My wife had a Mediterranean chicken pita sandwich which she really liked. Everything was so good that we came back for lunch the next day and shared hummus, tabouli, moujadara, and spanakopita. I really liked the moujadara and my wife favored the tabouli, but we both thought all four dishes were excellent. The people here are very friendly. Fortunately, both times we were able to get a table during the lunchtime rush; limited seating is really the only potential downside of this gem of a place. Stopped by on our way to Poconos area with grandparents and cousins in tow...we enjoyed a delicious lunch! Lunch specials come with fries or cup of Lentil soup(yum!). Chicken kebab and lamb shawarma pita were good not dry. Bibbe meatballs were tasty and served with tzazkiki yogurt sauce. The dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) super fresh and refreshing. I really don't understand all these 5 star reviews. Did we eat from the same place? Or is everyone's understanding of Mediterranean food that muddled that they have no idea what they're comparing it to? This place wasn't it. I'll start off by saying we are locals. We are also a Greek family. I won't nit-pick every little thing we didn't enjoy, but here are the big ones: Store bought pita - no respectable place would ever use store bought pita. Ever. Automatic 1 star rating based on that alone. Pickles?! - who puts pickles in a gyro?! No .. just, no. If that's your personal preference, fine, leave it as an add on, but never has it ever been a default. Food was cold - with the exception of the French fries, everything else was luke warm at best. There were other things that lacked overall flavor, but I'm not going to nit-pick about personal preference. It's a shame. This area needs a good Mediterranean restaurant. read more

It's a small restaurant/convenient store that also sells Mediterranean ingredients. The food is amazing! I order regular chicken gyro and the potion size is huge for $6 only. We came to this tiny spot at a whim. We were heading to the mountains and decided we abandon the trip since it was getting too late and we're hungry. We quickly yelped and notice there was a cute town nearby so we decided to give it a try. We were blown away by everything we ordered: Baba ganoush Taboulleh Lamb Gyro platter Shish Taouk The owner is a very nice lady. We originally were going to eat in the car because of Covid but an outdoor seating (first come first serve) opened up and it was nice day so why not! We forgot we didn't pay the car meter so while we were eating, a parking enforcement officer came by and started ringing up our car and I believe it was the owner's father sitting behind us noticed and ran inside to get his daughter to come out to speak to the cop. We luckily ended up not getting a ticket yay but omgosh such nice people we met! and the food was DELICIOUS! We are planning to make a trip back just to eat here again. read more

My family was visiting the Poconos area for a few days and was looking for somewhere to get takeout. Cedars Grill had great reviews online and we can certainly see why. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the woman taking our order was so friendly and patient with taking orders from first timers. We ordered lamb gyro plate and 2 chicken kabob and beef shawarma combo plates. The food was fresh, the rice tender and flavorful, the chicken was juicy and well seasoned, and the gyro was juicy and not dried out like I've unfortunately experienced before. The servings were generous too, enough for each of us to make a second meal out of the next day. There's also some Mediterranean/Turkish pantry items for sale on the shelves. We grabbed some of the canned Egyptian style fava beans just to try. We heated them up yesterday and they were very good. If we are in the area again, we'd stop by for more food in a heartbeat. read more

I am a firm believer in finding mom and pop spots on vacation. This one is right in the neighborhood, a 10 min drive from Shawnee in the Poconos. You get a lot of traditional Greek food for very reasonable prices. 6 of us ate like kings (and had enough for lunch the next day) for under $80. The staff is eager to please. The tastes are amazing. The baba ganoush is excellent and the lamb kebabs are perfection in a pita (or alone). Everything is fresh which is the hallmark for good Mediterranean food. A little gem of a restaurant in Stroudsburg we found while traveling on I-80. The owner definitely takes pride in delivering fresh homemade dishes!!!! We can't rave enough about the delicious homemade red lentil soup...it truly is the best!!!! The fresh hummus and homemade pita chips were out of this world!!! We've had lamb gyros at the Greek festivals in Arizona and Chicago which don't even compare to the incredibly delicious gyros made at this amazing restaurant.
