This is the first proper bridal boutique I've visited so wasn't really sure what to expect. But like many of these places, you can't just pop in without an appointment so make sure you call up and get booked in first. And there's no chance of you forgetting your appointment - they'll text you a couple of days before to remind you.
Groups are welcome, so the staff are happy for you to bring Mum, sister, auntie, bridesmaids and even Grandma, if you want to make a big deal of dress-hunting.
I just took my Mum and sister as I prefer things to be as fuss-free as possible. Less is more and all that.
We were offered tea, coffee and water on arrival and I was given a handful of tags to attach to the hangers of the dresses I liked the most. Wendy got an eyeful though. Poor Wendy.
After diving in and out of numerous gorgeous gowns, having my corsets tied very tightly, twirling, posing and generally pretending to be a princess/ice queen/evil dictator, almost two hours had passed. It's amazing how time-consuming looking for a dress that suits you can actually be, so keep track of the time if you have to be somewhere else that day.
Although I didn't end up buying my dress from Celebrations (you can find cheaper elsewhere), the staff were friendly, patient and didn't try to push me into buying anything, which I honestly thought they'd do, big-style.
This is definitely a boutique for those brides-to-be who are lucky enough to have a big budget / rich parents *pukes* but it doesn't hurt to try a few different styles on, even if you know they're way out of your price range. Just to give you an idea: a simple tiara costs £70 here. You can probably buy something very similar from Claire's for about a tenner... read more
