I want to write this review to inform everyone how absolutely wonderful Universitatsspital Zurich is. This review is only about the intensive care unit. The Universitatsspital Zurich is apparently the best heart hospital in all of Switzerland. My boyfriends mother was rushed here from Winterthur via the Rega (Swiss Air Rescue) helicopter. Rega is a nonprofit organization and it's really wonderful! Their goal is to pick anyone up in Switzerland within 15 minutes. If you pay 40 CHF a year then you don't get charged a lot... I think? Anyway, the doctors in this hospital are hardworking, understanding, sensitive, well informed, caring, and wonderful, and probably a lot more words. My boyfriends mother spent 2 weeks here until she was transferred to the intensive care unit in Schaffhausen (today! yay! she's in Schaffhausen!) and within the two weeks I was able to become somewhat comfortable with the intensive care unit, (well, only a floor) and the people in it. Every day we were able to call the hospital at any time and get a thorough description of what was happening. Every day when we arrived a doctor would meet with us and explain face to face what was happening. They were always very clear, they told us when they didn't know something, and they let us take plenty of time with questions. These doctors could make life changing decisions very quickly. There were several doctors working with my boyfriends mother, but since I was here for a while the faces became familiar. I truly felt that these people cared immensely for her. I felt a calmness with the doctors, they really had a warmth to them. I don't know too much about hospitals, but they really have all the shiz here. So. many. things. Tubes, and wires and lines and machines and more tubes and gauze and stickers and bla bla bla! It's amazing! Everyone manages to be so organized and the doctors always smile and greet you when you're in the room, even if they have 1038123 other things to be thinking about. Unfortunately the visiting hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., but you can come anytime if it's the first day there, I think. You're in good hands here, they will help.

After waiting over an…read morehour I was told by the consultant that I should not have been directed here and that they could not see me. Why would you make me wait for over an hour to say that? The consultant was quite sarcastic and rude. I wish the receptionists were the consultants as they had a much better 'bedside manner'. I hope I never have to go back there again. The thought of it makes me feel ill :(

The receptionist told me they couldn't see me for 2 weeks because everyone was on holiday. She said she would have a look and call me about massage. No call. I wait two weeks, get worse, and then I'm finally there. The therapist is late and the same receptionist says nothing. It's horrible. I don't think they are committed to healing people.

Instead of trying to correct a possible mistake, they decided to do analysis themselves because of course they can charge me for that what they of course did. Yes, legally correct. I give this doctor's office four stars because it is a good "one stop medical shop" in Zurich, with…read morepretty good service from each doctor I've been to, and also from the receptionists. They have doctors specializing in family medicine, dermatology, gynecology, physical therapy, etc. I find their family medicine and dermatology services to be pretty good. I have seen great progress in my skin from seeing the dermatologist here to which many others didn't really take their time out to properly diagnose my allergies. They even have Saturday hours - a plus for Zurich! If your usual family doctor is not in, they will try their best to find another family doctor within this practice (there are several), so you never really have to worry about not being able to see a good doctor in an emergency. The one strange thing is that you have to go through a whole "Sihlcity" shopping mall to get to this doctor's office. You have to take the elevator to the 3rd floor, and within this whole Sihlcity shopping mall there are a few restaurants/stores on the ground floor, supermarket/stores on the first floor, stores on the second floor, pet store/Media Markt (nearby the doctor's office) on the third floor and Credit Suisse offices on the fourth floor. Pretty strange mix especially if you are very ill, trying to discreetly walk through this shopping mall to see your doctor!
