Oh my goodness! I can't believe no-one has reviewed the epic Karaoke Epoc yet!!…read more When I was a student, I was never completely convinced that this place existed. I had vague drunken memories of stumbling into a manga shop and finding a mini-Japan style Karaoke box...I must have been here quite a few times with different groups of Japanese friends. However I could never find it again when I was sober. *blushes* Karaoke Epoc is hidden at the back of Adanami Shobo (the Japanese Manga/ book shop on Brewer street.) If you have never been there before, it can be a teeny bit tricky to find...look out for a 'De-lux Cleaning' sign to find the shop. This is one of the least posh karaoke places in London. The decor is a little old/scabby looking...but it is also brilliant! I'll tell you why: - We booked the huuuge room downstairs, and had more than enough room for all 16 of us. There was even enough room for us to dance around the table as well!! - They have teeny 4-6 people rooms upstairs if you have a smaller group. - There was a fridge in the corner, so we brought drinks and kept them cool in there. - The remote control is like a mini computer...you can search by song title or by artist. Ask for help if you can't read Japanese. - There is a decent Japanese/Korean/Chinese selection of songs as well as all the old English favorites. Oooh and a whole page of disney songs!! (^^) - It is really cheap, especially if you go early and have a large group of singing friends. Last night I paid £11 for three hours. I'm not the only on that loves this place!! Make sure you book in advance as it is nearly always booked up.

This is definitely the best karaoke in central London. I loved the simple set out rooms, that they…read morehave a digital book to select songs and also a paper one, the music quality and that the songs had awesome cheesy video instead of just a boring blue background, that you bring your own food and drink, and, bonus, a competitive price. When I come to London I always like doing karaoke with my friends, this now the only place I want to do it at. P.s. If you need to get some booze when you're there, go out of the front door and go left down the street, take the first right and there's a shop just there.

BAO Borough This is…read morea sister restaurant of the Michelin Bib Gourmand BAO, but it's not the original that earned the distinction, and that showed unfortunately. The dishes were all good, but none were particularly excellent. I had: Aged Beef Rice (£14.75) - Incredibly salty, but I like it like that. Classic Bao (£5.50) - Good, but not distinctive. Meat was a bit dryer than it should, and bun wasn't soft and hot. Beef Short Rib Bao (£6.50) - I preferred this to the Classic pork bao and it was quite good, but again, not distinctive. Grilled Cucumber Salad (£5.50) - A nice side dish, but was swimming in oil, so not as healthy as we hopped. House Salad (£5.50) - Mostly kale with some dressing, a nice addition to get some greens. Service was a bit chaotic, it was sometimes unclear how we should order or from whom. At last call, we asked if we needed to order dessert now, and one server said we could order that later, but when the time came, we were unable. The setting was a bit compact, and most of the chairs are stools with no backs. I feel like this place was designed to be half the price, but the Michelin designation spoiled that. It'd be hard to leave full for under £35-£40 without drinks, and for that pricing, I'd at least like a proper chair and elbow room.

Beef rice: great potion of beef but it's pretty spicy - not just from the black pepper but i think they also added chilly oil. If you can't take spices, perhaps ask if they can take it easy on the chilly? Baos: I've tried all of them and I love them all. The bun is very soft and spongy with a bit of sweetness to it. I could have it all day everyday. Roasted aubergine: wow! Please order this. It's like an Asian version of babaganoush! The fried dough is a fried version of their bun - so yummy.

Everyone has that friend who always wants to do karaoke. Well, ladies and gents, that friend is me,…read moreso it comes as no surprise that I suggested karaoke as a kickoff to a farewell/birthday celebration. You will have a good time here. While the song list may not measure up to the "million songs" claimed by Lucky Voice, every song that we wanted to sing was available. Freddie Mercury would be proud. We were put in the top floor room, surely a space converted for karaoke use rather than built for it. We had more space than we knew what to do with and I will admit that I've never sang karaoke when it was light out (well maybe in the morning hours). But, there is a large room downstairs that I spotted en route to the toilet that had a group of 30 karoke kids belting out classics. Always a good sign. Another point of interest - this is not purely a karaoke venue, but is a restaurant as well. On that point, I will say that I probably would steer clear of eating there. No, it's not because the food is dodgy - in fact the pizza was quite good - but because you can still hear the karaoke. Despite being the biggest proponent of bad singing in karaoke, even I would feel like I was closing in on the nearest circle of hell if I sat down to eat and had to listen to a Britney Spears rendition that makes Rebecca Black sound good (feel the burn). But we were there for karaoke, so no bones here. Sorry for partying. I'd also like to add that drinks, while still expensive (£4.50 for a shot of Jameson - that's all I remember) are not the worst karaoke drink prices around. It is also relatively cheap to rent rooms at £4 per person per hour (Sun-Wed but a bit more on weekends). For best deal, bring 15+ people and everyone wang chung tonight. I'd also like to put forth that the venue is 18+, unlike other popular venues that are 21+. I think this is a crucial point given that London, in general, is 18+. Lastly, the staff are extremely friendly and abiding, which just makes the experience that much better. While we rented out the space for 2 hours, we were told that it was no big deal if we went a bit over since it was a light night. I like that. And I will go back because of it. Anyone keen?

Oooh this place is fun!!…read more My friends brought me here for a night of karaoke-joy, and it was brilliant!! The room we had was huge, with plenty of space for dancing and being silly...drinks seemed to appear whenever we needed them (I have a feeling jager bombs were involved...but to be honest I'm not sure, my memory is a bit hazy...) However, it must be a truly awful place to come and eat, surely it'd be horrible to listen to the loud karaoke-singers from downstairs?? Our singing space was on the third floor, so there was a whole floor between us and the diners...but we were pretty loud. Oops. ***I have lots of amazing photos of this place, but I'm not going to post any of them because I have a feeling my friend's would kill me! We all look like mad dancing idiots!!***

The room was a bit tired and worn around the edges, but my husband and I ordered some drinks and got ready for an hour of singing. Let's start with refreshments. I can't speak for their cocktails, but their beer options were very limited; cheap Japanese beer and one or two domestics. I ordered a Diet Coke and it tasted incredibly awful, which was strange because it came in a bottle. My husband's soda (also from a bottle) also tasted weird. The song catalog is jacked. First, major artists like Beyonce, the Beatles, etc. are missing big hits from their discographies. Second, the pitch of almost all the songs we selected were modified or changed significantly from the original recordings, I presume to make them easier to sing. For someone who sings well, this is incredibly obnoxious. Everyone knows if you can't sing karaoke well you just shout it out, but that doesn't mean I want songs to be off-key or in a weird key that doesn't work. I would try to find a better place if you can. We were planning on going to the Karaoke Box in Mayfair, but got turned around and ended up here. I wish we would have skipped it and saved the money.

(-) Yelp! check in offered 2 free euro tokens to use for machines (no cash value). I decided what the hell since we were there killing time until we could get in line to ride the London Eye. Sheesh. I had to really jump through some hoops to get the 2 tokens lol. Sign up for wifi, click this, sign right here.... ...and then they only worked on select games and definitely NOT the crane machines, which is what we were there playing and spending our money on! Definitely wasn't worth the hassle. Again though, we were killing time ATM. (-) the blood curdling shrieks of kids in repeated succession can be too much to bear here at times lol no. I contacted customer services simply to confirm whether the voucher would be valid for a booking at Holborn on 14/03/26 (my birthday), or to request a corrected replacement code if not. Despite multiple emails, the same staff member repeatedly avoided answering this very straightforward question. Literally just writing one liners! I was told "this should be fine" and "yes as it was issued 20/01/26", but there was no clear confirmation that the voucher would actually be accepted on my booking date. When I asked for clarification or for the query to be passed to someone else, I was repeatedly asked to forward the original email instead of receiving a direct answer. All I wanted was written confirmation I could rely on before making a booking. The lack of clarity, accountability, and basic reassurance has completely undermined my confidence in using the voucher at all. Poor communication and an unnecessarily frustrating experience. It was slow at this point, so no reason we shouldn't have been checked on by this point. There are 2 servers working and you can see it's a little busy but not terrible. We literally wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged - by the manager - who doesn't apologize for the inconvenience. We put our order in with him - the drink is yummy, but the food wasn't worth paying money for. One of the saddest salads ever, so small and there were literally like 7 pieces of lettuce. It was nice presentation, but that's not a salad if there's far more toppings than lettuce! Our drinks were empty for at least 15 minutes and the servers and managers kept walking by but wouldn't acknowledge us. I would have gotten another drink but I never got the chance to. Having booked my room, I wandered down the stairs into the main club, and huddled in on myself as the wind whistled and tumble weed blew by. Yes the place was deserted. I had to wait a while to even find someone to serve me some beers. The bar itself is attractive but on this particular Tuesday night, not overly well stocked as they were out of a couple of things I wanted. The room for ten that I was in was rather barren and uninspiring. In fairness I am yet to sing in a karaoke room who's interior artistic endeavour has stretched beyond paint and sofas to sit on. On the plus side, the karaoke system was easy to use and the sound quality was great. Our screaming rock vocals didn't seem to bother any of the surrounding patrons once they eventually arrived, although one gent did decide to join us due to are throwing everything we had into each performance. There is a Japanese inspired food menu which is fine for nibbling, and the beers we ordered were affordable and cold. They serve cocktails which sound nice, and I am told on the weekend the place is pumping with a real club vibe. On this early week visit I was not overally impressed, and it is unlikely I will return for a weekend soiree.
