She has learned the basics of backstroke and freestyle, and had just started on the breaststroke and treading. He has made swimming fun and approachable and she looked forward to the weekly lessons. Each lesson ended in a fun time (usually with Tyler spinning her around on a large mat above and onto the water - it takes a lot of energy and yet he still does it for each student). 5 stars for Coach Tyler! - 1 star (for a total of 4 stars) for the administration. We learned by surprise that our lessons were about to end, by a chance phone call we'd made asking about the following week's schedule, only to find out that our private classes would end with the end of the month (which was 2 days away). While we could understand the business need, an earlier proactive communication would have been appreciated.

Our son and daughter started with swim lessons…read moreat a very early age and each rolled smoothly into the PSA (Peninsula Swim Association) spring and summer swim program which includes relaxed swim meets between other swim clubs in the area plus a relay meet and championship meet in late July. My son progressed further into the USA swim program which includes year round swim practices and more competitive meets around the Bay Area. This has enabled him to quickly integrate and do well on his high school swim team. He has learned valuable life lessons from swimming and has built great relationships with his coaches as well as friendships across several school districts. My wife joined the Masters swim program shortly after we became members. It has become a long lasting exercise routine with friendships which will last forever. We often bring visiting summer guests to the club to escape the heat and relax in front of the pool. The two pools at Ladera provide a clear advantage over other clubs since the lower pool is all about recreation and fun while the upper pool can be dedicated to more serious swimmers except on the occasional weekend time slots when they open the 3 meter diving board for fun and games off of the high dive. We frequently take advantage of the cafe or bring lunch in a cooler or have dinner around the BBQ. I routinely use the exercise room while my children are at swim practice or at a swim team social event. It has a sufficient collection of weight lifting and cardio equipment. We have not taken advantage of the tennis side of the club. I have many memories playing with my kids in the lower pool as they became more proficient and confident swimmers and divers. Now the joy is watching them win an event or relay in a swim meet. I am sure that these memories will last a lifetime in each of us.

This is getting fixed right now with a major renovation focused on the main building and locker rooms, plus an expansion of the fitness center. We were introduced to the club by neighbors across the street, who had joined when their kids were young (they are now 40+) and we can see why they have stayed members all these years. This club is more of a community and family spot than most - which is obvious especially in the summer with all the families poolside during the day. If you've got young kids, and like being involved with them, this is a great spot to get them into swimming and tennis. If you want a place where you drop your kids off at the daycare and work out, it's not for you. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. I needed my rackets restrung and the nearest tennis shop to my house wasn't open yet. Since I had…read morea dentist appointment nearby, I called The Woodside Tennis Shop to inquire if they had the strings that I wanted and they indeed had it. I dropped off two rackets and explained to Mark, the new owner, that my racket hadn't been restrung in a year and my backup racket hadn't been restrung since 2023. I'm a flat ball hitter, so I don't normally break strings, but I needed more control. He was very nice and measured the tension of my backup racket and informed me that it was surprisingly still good to play with and didn't need to be restrung. Since it had been over 3 years, I told him to restring both of them anyway. Before I left, I asked how long it would take and Mark told me it would be 2 business days. The very next day, I get a text from Mark telling me that my rackets were ready for pickup! Unfortunately, they were closing at 3:45pm so I couldn't pick them up in time since I was at work. Mark was so kind and offered to deliver them to my house or work. I told him where I worked and he said he lived nearby so it wouldn't be a problem to drop them off. I was so impressed! He even showed up almost 30 min before the time he initially told me! He texted me the cost of the stringing, but also said that I could pay him via Zelle after he dropped off my rackets. Overall, the price of the stringing was probably slightly higher than other tennis shops that I've been to, but the service alone was outstanding!!! I'd definitely go back again despite it not being that close to where I live.

A lifetime of memories…read more I sat on the lawn of the Eichler club last year as they held an end of the season swim club award ceremony. My two eldest kids (6, 4) just finished their first season there and were sitting up front with all the other kids and friends they made that Summer. Music played alongside a slideshow of all the fun moments throughout the season. Every kid was pictured. They handed out awards, and as the sun was setting, members, coaches, and the senior class gave speeches to the young ones. My 6 year old son said it was the best day ever, and as I sat there sipping my sangria, I quietly agreed. It was a beautiful moment. Just weeks earlier, my 4 year old daughter was climbing away from the diving board, too scared to finally jump into the deep end of the pool. She had mustered up all her courage to finally do the jump as she waited in line to participate in a "best belly flop" fun event at the club. But when the moment came, in front of dozens of people, it was all too much for her. "ZOE, ZOE, ZOE!" The club was suddenly wildly cheering her on. My little girl then turned around and jumped in. It was her first time jumping off the diving board, and from then on that's all she wanted to do. A member had taken a video of the moment and kindly shared it with me. That's one I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I hope my daughter will too. I never really had these kind of moments growing up. And I don't even know where to find them if I wanted to somehow have more of them. But I do know that my kids have made special memories already here at the Eichler club, and I hope for many many more. ----- Anyway, aside from that I played tennis here almost everyday using the ball machine. It was fantastic. I never had trouble finding a court, and at the same time, there were enough people there that I could meet and play with other people of various levels. I'm still just a wait-list member (they were testing a Summer membership program), but whenever I can join again I'll probably pick up and play a lot more pickleball there as it's impossible to find courts elsewhere in the area. I heard they're adding lights to the courts too, hope that works out Highly recommend this place. While membership is inexpensive from a Palo Alto perspective, the wait-list is ~5 years long. So put in that deposit ASAP because like me you'll wish you did earlier.
