Hell yea! So freaking cool. Our guide Angelo was great, super funny guy. It's a two fold experience. Incredible sites and awesome guide. I will say the website can do some work. We booked for 10 to avoid crowds but it turns out the first tour didn't happen until 11. They place was barely opening when we arrived. But Angelo was awesome in taking us "early." We were grouped with two other pairs so it was a nice small group. Photos and cameras aren't allowed but they do provide photos for you, of course with a price. As of Feb 2023 - one photo is $20 USD. If you're in the Playa del Carmen area definitely recommend! read more

This was an incredible experience! Our guide Oto was wonderful--the perfect balance of information mixed with humor. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The cenote itself was magical--it was unlike any other, seeing how you were underground, truly in a cave. Every need was catered to, wet suits were available for anyone who got cold, masks and water shoes were provided, of course photos were taken that could be purchased. This might rank as one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. My family had been here a couple days prior and recommended it, so I came here early in the morning with my brother. It's only 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen and costs about 200-300 pesos to get there. It's 500 pesos for a guided tour, which they can do in English. The price includes a wet suit, snorkel, and swim shoes. The group we were in was very small, so we got an excellent intimate tour. The first cenote they bring you to is completely dark, so flashlights are necessary. Since we were such a small group, we even got to explore more of the cave than they usually let other groups do! There is a photographer who follows you around taking nice momento photos. At the end of the tour, you can choose to buy a photo package with them. It's up to you if you want to spend the money. One person in our group bought a waterproof case so that they could use their cell phone to take pictures while in the cenote. The photos weren't the best quality due to the darkness, but still. read more

This experience was spectacular- beautiful and otherworldly. We really enjoyed our time. We arrived from Playa del Carmen by taxi (about $15 US dollars for three of us) and were greeted by a friendly staff. We made a reservation for $35 per person to do the 1.5 hour Cenote tour. We had arrived just a few minutes late and were asked if we'd like to skp the introduction or wait another 45 minutes for the next tour. We quickly changed to go with the first group, and I'm so glad we did! There were only 8 of us in total, and the small group definitely made a postive difference in this expereince. The actual cenote is made up of caverns and caves. How adventurous or cautious you want to be, the staff is amenable. They also had a fantastic photographer that traveled throughout, meaning- don't worry about waterproofing your cell or getting a camera- just spend the additional money for the picture disc. Well worth it for quality photos. Our guide (big shout out to Abel) was fantastic, warm and funny. He allowed us to explore, but was always highly conscious of safety. We had a fantastic time; an hour and a half being the perfect amount. Afterwards, we met Ryan for a tequila tasting on the properties. The tequila is for real pricey- and it should be- in addition to it being made at only 3 locations in all of Mexico, it's ridiculously smooth and delicious. At the time, their best bottle was $150, but could be sipped totally neat and comes with the bragging rights of being better to the environment (he'll go over why regular grocery store tequila is problematic). We didn't end up taking any home, but our sister in law did (and I'm very happy about this). TIPS: You don't have to bring anything but an ID. They provide masks and snorkels, wet suits, water shoes, and a locker. Take the wet suit. The water is cold and that really helps. Trust the photographer rather than potentially damaging your own camera or phone. Come early! This place is best with the fewest people. Towards the end of our time in one cavern, a group of almost 20 came in. We had previously been the only people, and the beauty is seen better that way. read more

We went to this cenote 2 days ago At first I was skeptical about it because of how it looked but I have to say WOW! what an amazing tour we had Ricardo as our tour guide very informative and friendly, made us feel comfortable and very helpful! My mom who doesn't know how to swim went with Ricardo and he even took time to make her feel comfortable to do the tour, all the caves along with their history were amazing! Something to not be missed if you are at Playa del Carmen. I would definitely do it again. They inform you of the water temp. And give you options before going into the water. In the last cenote you get to swim and explore it yourself which is such a good experience. read more

Cenote Chaak Tun is a bit pricey comparing, but a guided tour is included with snorkeling gear, wetsuits. shoes and flashlights (I have been to Cenote Ikil and only life savers where provided). You get to go two different parts of the same Cenote, our guide Francisco-Paco-Pancho was very knowledgeable (definitely I like that cause I always come up with the weirdest question or observations). There are bats and parts of the tour are dark and a bit small. I believe most people should be okay with this cause I get a bit claustrophobic and I was okay. I brought my water proof camera, and I wasn't afraid to lose it. If you lose something, the guide should be able to retrieve it, but he won't guarantee it. Somebody lost the snorkel and Francisco was able to get it. Worth Checking the Cenote out if you are in Playa. It is a taxi ride away. Depending where you are in Playa and if you are good at bargaining you can pay 120-200 pesos. The entrance to the Cenote is $30 read more

This place is just outstanding. We are from the United States and stayed in Cancun. It was an appropriate 1.5 hours to drive over as we rented a car. Out tour guide was named Julio and was absolutely fantastic. I told him I wanted to bring my phone for photos and he went back out to his locker to bring me a water case. He took photos for us the entire time at no cost. Was a great experience especially for a first time. When we were done with the tour we were invited for a very tasty tequila tasting which was so smooth and good! We decided to bring a bottle back with us! I would highly recommend this for any age, couples, families, etc. read more

Touring Cenote Chaak Tun was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get a genuine and informative Mayan cultural experience. My partner and I arrived at Chaak Tun a little after 10am, and were welcomed by warm and friendly staff. We payed 500 pesos each, which included all of the gear we needed, and trust me, you're going to want to take ALL the gear (yes, even the wetsuit!). Our tour guide Emilio, came out to greet us after we got suited up, and told us he would wait a few minutes to see if anyone else showed up for a tour... we lucked out, and nobody did, so we ended up getting a private tour that day! I recommend going early, as we saw groups behind us that were 10-15 people deep! The cenotes are in caverns, and we wandered in pretty far. Emilio was a highly knowledgable guide to the underworld, with tons of interesting facts and tidbits of information about Mayan history and culture. Make no mistake, Emilio is clearly passionate about the local environment, and taking a tour with him was truly a treat. The whole tour lasted about 2 hours, and we explored 2 large cenotes, each with their own interesting features and mystique. If you are looking for a tour that is a bit off-the-beaten-path, and are interested in learning about Mayan Culture, I would highly recommend taking this tour! read more

I went to Cenote Chaak Tun not knowing what to expect. I called up the previous day and made a reservation over the phone for a 9 am tour. I did not have to pay at time of reservation , that felt good :) They provided for underwater torchlight, shoes,underwater eye mask and life jacket. My tour guide was Angelo. He was brilliant and funny! He took us through the beautiful caves and cenotes and made me feel so safe . The experience was beyond amazing. Hard to describe in words how I felt in those deep caves ,so close to nature like never before. Angelo was very knowledgeable and really made the experience memorable! I don't want to spoil the fun by giving more details but its a MUST adventure in cancun! This is not like the other cenotes with ziplines are a bit more commerrcial..they too are great but this something really phenomenal!Big shout out to Angelo the tour guide.And not to forget the paparazzi photographer they have following us for the first part to take the most amazing pictures..Overall a great experience! read more

I don't know if there is a beauty contest between Yukatan cenotes, but this one is definitely gorgeous, plus, great value for money compared to other offers. Cheaper tours do not provide any equipment and have large groups; expensive ones aren't magically better and tend to pull off tricks like not allowing gopros, and selling you $50 photos. With massive marketing efforts they attract more people as well. Here, they wait 30 min after your arrival, and, if you're lucky and no one else shows up, you end up having a private tour. It's amazing not to have to share this experience with other people bumping into you in the water. Another perk is being able to visit some off route spots, if the guide thinks you are good for it and is kind enough to take you there. Ricardo was an awesome, super experienced guide, in love with his job and nature. Really passionate about preserving places like this, so don't try to break the rules and sneak in with sunscreen or other stuff on your skin, he cares about this place more than about your payment. PS, Rico, we realized our bad math on the way back, all this time in the caves must've mushed our brains a bit. We are very sorry and embarrassed, after all the time and care you gave us. First of all, I must say, we had a WONDERFUL experience! My boyfriend, his mother and I went to visit the cenote last week and from the beginning, the staff were friendly and courteous. Felix, our guide, was super nice, friendly and helpful throughout the whole experience, specially with my boyfriends mother. At first, she was afraid of going in the caverns, but thanks to Felix, she was able to overcome her fear and was able to enjoy the whole tour. He explained everything both in English and Spanish (we´re bilingual) so even better. So THANK YOU FELIX! :) In regards to price, its a bit more pricey than other cenotes around the area but Its definitely worth it, You get the gear: wet suit,, small flashlight, snorkel goggles, water socks (highly recommend since there are a lot of sharp rocks/edges from the stalagmites when swimming), locker and the guided tour for about $400 pesos ($23 USD) per person. The whole tour may take around 2 hours, which gives you enough time to snorkel and swim inside the designated areas in the cenote, take pics, etc. Oh, and definitely recommend to bring a waterproof camera to take pictures. For those who don't have one, I suggest to buy a disposable waterproof camera at one of the local supermarkets of the area (Chedrahui or Bodega Aurrera), theyre about $12... definitely worth it. Its a bit complicated to get there if you dont have a car (we decided to rent a car at the airport from day one of our trip). But if you do, its easy to get there using google maps or a navigation system. We were staying at a resort in Playa del Carmen so it was a 40 min ride or so. Tips: 1. Bring a waterproof camera. 2. Don´t wear sunblock, perfume or any other body products since it can alter the ecosystem. Its all under ground, so you dont have to worry about getting sunburn. 3. Bring cash 4. Bring towels 5. WEAR the wet suit, the water is kinda chilly. Overall, I definitely recommend to visit Chaak tun. There are so many stalagmites and stalactites compared to other cenotes, not so far from Playa del Carmen. This cenote is not as crowded which its definitely a PLUS. read more

We visited in February 2019. Booked this excursion with Royal Caribbean and it was great. One of the best excursion we have done to date. Marcelo our guide did a great job. He was informative, entertaining and helpful. Swimming through the Cenote was amazing. The tour Also included and authentic Mexican lunch and tequila tasting, both were fantastic. WARNING do NOT buy the tequila. Definitely a bait and switch. We purchased several bottles and they tasted nothing like the great stuff we sampled. In fact they were horrible. Don't leave Playa del Carmen without going to this Cenote Attraction. Ricardo, our guide, gave a superb presentation of the Mayan cosmology and how these Calcium enriched underground rivers energized and guided this fairly recent civilization in their rituals. The mud bath facial was pretty special too. Be ready to wear a wet suit and spend several hours following the water and caverns with flashlight. read more

We were so surprised to find such a gem in the forest! Viator mentioned it as one of the top 10 things to do in Playa del Carmen, so we booked through them. They picked us up from our rental property and delivered us to Chaak Tun. We were met by Able who outfitted us with life vests, wet suits, flashlights, masks and snorkels. He lead us down a rain forest path into the wet caves. It was thrilling, unusual, and beautiful. His knowledge of the cenotes was delivered in a fun banter with our crowd. I highly recommend this as a morning activity, fewer crowds early in the day. read more
