I had a good experience at this facility. They were on time and efficient in checking me in and everyone was super kind before and after my procedure. They even called to follow up the next day and the person was very concerned about how I was doing; it wasn't just an obligatory call. I took one star off only because some of the furnishings were dated, and because there wasn't a ton of privacy in the pre op area, as I could hear the lady next to me entire medical history when they went over it. I was nervous and would have appreciated a little more peace and quiet. Overall I would not hesitate to go back (altho I'm hoping I won't have to!) read more

I had been scheduled for a procedure at the facility, went through all of the pre-op testing, pre-admission process only to find out a week and a half before surgery to relieve my pain from an injury that I was far to high a risk for them and they denied my service. My doctor re-scheduled me for another two weeks later at the hospital. However 4 days before my originally scheduled surgery date, I received a text message from CIMS saying that they wanted to ensure that my care is the best it can be and to do a pre-procedure symptom score by an outside provider that I never gave consent to have my personal information. Yet when I called today, they said that I was canceled in the system and not on the schedule, when I asked why the automated text.....oh that's not our system, Sorry. Thanks for sharing my PII with an outside source without consent and then not having it purged from their system. read more

Outpatient surgery centers are all the rage and CMIS was purchased in 2016 by SCA, one of the big guys in the business. Sure CMIS is cheaper than hospitals and far more profitable too. Why? Because they only take the easiest of cases and have minimal staff and equipment should anything go south while you're here. Think a big conference room with a table, ventilator and lights and you're 95% there. Sound reassuring? It's not. I won't dive into the detaild of why I didn't go here, but suffice it to say you should ask a whole lot of probing questions about who, what, and how things will be handled. They'll ask plenty of questions of you too and at the slightest hint of any risks will tell you to go elsewhere... you probably should. This is low-hanging fruit picking in healthcare folks. Of yeah, and they'll be asking for at least 50% upfront or no surgery for you. If you'd like to be cut open here when they can't do much more than stabilize you and call 911 should all not go according to plan, then be my guest. Once I asked enough questions, I backed away quickly. read more

I am very impressed with the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. I had a great experience and couldn't be happier. The doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist, were very caring and took the time to answer all my questions. It was clear to me that they wanted me to be as comfortable as possible. My nurse Erica was just wonderful. I was well taken care of and another nurse called me the following day after surgery to check up on me. Highly recommend! read more

I am not sure of what a couple of the bad reviews were referring to, but it was not CMIS. I had a Lumbar Fusion (S-1, L-5/4) done in March 2015 by Dr. Sweeney. The surgery lasted over 7 hours. Dr. Sweeney told me that I would be walking without pain 2 hours after surgery....and he was right. For the first year I did nothing but walk. After a year I resumed taking SPIN classes and 18 months post-op I became a Certified SPIN Instructor teaching several 1-hour classes a week. I recently became SCUBA Certified. CMIS was a fantastic place to be. I was treated like a king...the staff were awesome. No one wants to have back surgery. But if it has to be done, I wanted Dr. Sweeney and CMIS. read more

I patiently waited while my husband received surgery on his hands and while they were rushing him out the door soon after surgery I over heard the receptionist calling to follow up on patients and their experience. We hadn't made it in the house long enough before the same woman called my husband with the same script. This time she blamed him for "spraying" Hepatitis C all over the surgery room and their equipment. He was obviously confused by this news due to all of the blood test he received prior to the surgery. I asked him to put the phone on speaker and I over heard her accusing him of the contamination and that they randomly tested the tools. Long story short she eventually figured out she called the wrong person and was unapologetic!!! This was extremely unsettling due to me being pregnant with our second child! Needless to say we both were tested Negative!!!!! read more

I just had my L4 and L5 fused and spent the night of June 23rd. I have to say that the experience with the staff and facility was nothing but GREAT! The facility was spotless and the staff was Exceptional. It went well above what I was expecting. I would say this was a fantastic experience (not the fusion as you do have pain) as far as staff and facility.I recommend it!!! Jim M read more

Had foot surgery here on 2/9/22. It was a really pleasant experience. Everyone there was great and very friendly. I cannot comment on the actual surgery because I do not remember any of it lol, but they definitely have my foot wrapped up very well to prevent any possible infection from occurring. I loved that when I finally woke up I had snacks and juice waiting in front of me (that is something I've never experienced at the larger hospitals). To me, it's the small things that make me appreciate a business and they sure did go above and beyond. Also, my wife really liked the updates via text every step of the way since family was not allowed in there. They called my wife and she arrived exactly as I was discharged so there was no waiting on her. I highly recommend this place and if I ever need a smaller surgery in the future, I will push for this place. Thank you for taking good care of me and the wonderful experience!! read more

Could not disagree with other reviews more. I have been to this center on 2 occasions: Lap tear and foot surgery, different procedures with same level of care. The day before my procedure I received a call from someone to review my case. They reminded me of what I needed to be doing before I showed up and confirmed time. This women was very professional and aswered any questions I had about my procedure. I felt comfortable with her advise and assurances. When I arrived and after checking in I was met with the anesthesiologist who reviewed my procedure (this is typical) detailing how I was going to be put asleep and how I would awake. The nurse explained what I could anticipate after the procedures allowing me to express the level of pain. She then explained to me the steps in recovery, Phase 1 and Phase 2 in PACU. Step 2 would is where I recalled my care form there. I will say that there was a lot of effort in communicating every aspect of my procedure. Once I I woke and was clearer in Phase 2, the nurse was attentive to my needs. The anesthesiologist visited me to evaluate my pain and made a slight adjustment. The nurse also allowed my family in to sit with me and helped me to my car when I assured them i understood my post-operation instructions. the nurse took time to describe what I would expect over the next few hours in terms of pain and how to manage it at home. She was right on the mark. Overall my experience was great. In fact I had a second procedure done several years later and the same treatment was received. Consistent, quality, and the facilities were all above grade. In NO way was my case easy! And in no way did I ever feel compromised on care; I didn't experience a shortage of staff in numbers or in terms of skills. And on the onset, they ask questions- good thing! Why would I go somewhere that would risks my health and not make sure I was in proper condition before I was cut open? OF course they could have denied me if I was a high risk, THANK YOU! I appreciate someone making sure I wasn't going to defib on a table OR have issues with post surgery care. Finally, CMIS is a surgical business, your doctor chooses wher to have your procedure done. And you choose your doctor. Take the issue with the doctor who choose this venue not the venue. This is health care today; risk management. CMIS/SCA in Mokena is comfortable place to have a procedure done and is only as good as your doctor. read more

Had a single level L4-5 fusion here, and the recovery room (PACU) nurses were great. Unfortunately, the inpatient care center iis horrible. They saw me crying in pain yet refused pain medication even though doc ordered it, and they were very very mean. I was trying my hardest to get up to walk (for PT) and this nasty nurse YANKED ME BY MY DRAIN (draining fluid out of my back.) I was very close to Calling an ambulance to go to Christ Hospital where I knew I'd b treated right and my pain controlled. Tears means nothing to them. DO NOT GO HERE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!!!! read more
