After going to school at SEMO and spending a lot of time in Cape afterwards visiting my best friend…read moreand my sister, I can tell you with certainty that the town needed a badass co-working space. Codefi fulfills that need in every single way, and this past Friday I was lucky enough to work in their colorful, creative space! Freelancers, small businesses, and corporate groups should be rejoicing that this place exists. There are so many different spaces you can use, from comfy desks, to big couches, to a table surrounded by swinging chairs (yes, you read that correctly.) Codefi is filled with creative professionals, and it really is hard not to be inspired once you're inside. Aside from all of those wonderful qualities, the wifi works well and they brew Kaldi's coffee. It's $15/day if you want to drop in, or $75 a month. If you commit to a year, it's only $50 a month. I would utilize this place so much if I lived in Cape, but I look forward to stopping by the next time I'm in town!

Where do I start? Heard of this place for a while now. Couldn't really picture what it was about…read more I heard it was a "cool place" and it has something to do with business. From time to time I'd hear something and forget about it. One day I just walked in to see for myself. My wife and I entered the place and were immediately visually stirred by the relaxed "hip" if you will, atmosphere of the place. The decor is very tastefully done. The tour was casual and enjoyable. You don't feel any pressure to join or anything. I will describe it kind of like a modern alternative to the Chamber in a way but with an entrepreneurial bent. "One Million Cups" is held here every month spotlighting a startup or existing business. Cape Girardeau is one of only 75 cities across the U.S. sponsoring this organisation and it is held here at Codefi. Work spaces are available on a first come first serve basis or you can rent some space as well. Conference rooms are offered on a scheduled basis. Did I mention "Beer Thirty" held every Thursdays at 4:30? I've been here for over a month and it's been a great overall experience.. If you still don't know what it is, just come by and you will find nice people to give you an introduction to the place.. Highly recommended.

The Jones Building is a beautifully restored historic building in downtown Metropolis, just across…read morethe street from the giant Superman statue (yes, Metropolis is Superman-themed). The upstairs of the building was renovated a few years ago to include 4 suites for guests to rent. We rented our 2-night stay through Airbnb and stayed in the Lois suite. The building was originally built in 1908 and still has some of the original features, such as the staircase leading up to the suites. You will need to take the stairs to access suites, so keep this in mind when booking. What we loved most about the Louis suite was the exposed brick and the beautiful view of the sunset setting behind the courthouse, out the window of the living room. It was a spacious place for 2 people, with a kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom with a full bathroom. The couch was comfortable and the bed was too. The king bed came with fluffy pillows and a soft mattress. I appreciated the USBs on the nightstand as well. And the pre-made ice in the freezer. It was very clean and being so new it was modern and smelled like new construction still. All the suites are "themed" to some extent, by name. The only negative we had was that there appeared to be a leak under the kitchen sink that had been there for some time, but we let the owner know about this and it didn't affect our stay. Also, there is a walk-up donut shop just below the suites! Literally right outside the door. I don't suggest the coffee, but the donuts are delicious - they even have gluten-free donuts available. And their pastries are extra large & sharable in size!
