Visited when in town. Sermon on the disciple Matthew (St. Matthew) on point about Jesus seeking out and inviting the rejected, imperfect, and lesser in society to join Him in His mission. Welcomed by several members, including the pastor. read more

Established in 1963.

On January 9, 1963 a group of dedicated Christians met in a private garage one half mile east of Owasso, Oklahoma to establish what is now known as Central Baptist Church. Central continues to grow and reach the Owasso community at our current location on 145th E Ave.

The motivational speech was simulcast by a middle-aged, Gold's gym member on Red Bull channeling Tony Robbins. No Cross, the Bible an afterthought, and front-row cheerleaders clapped on-cue. Currently it is decorated very well in a football theme. They have stations to grab a cup of coffee or a water and of course people stationed to assist. The actual service is held in a large room that looks more multi-purpose than sanctuary. On todays visit the lights were low but the stage lights and fog were full force. It feels like you are getting ready to attend a concert and that is exactly how service started. The first was a rock and roll song the next 2 were Christian based followed by the sermon. I felt it was more of a motivational talk versus the more traditional services I have experienced and would have liked to have the bible tied into the message a little more but I loved the general message! After service we exited the building. As a first time I can say I felt no pressure in this atmosphere. I also felt like it might be difficult to get to know fellow attendees. That could be a good thing depending on how involved a person wants to be!

The first service is more traditional music, starts at 8 a.m. breakfast fellowship is between 9:00-9:30. Sunday school starts at 9:30 and contemporary service starts at 10:30. Wednesday has a fellowship meal at 6 and service starting at 7:00. We get to take the Lords Supper every Sunday. This church has a great youth program.

Sermon and Pastor: Pastor Ken Lane is phenomenal and one of a kind. He does not hold up the whole church on his own tho, there is a team effort. He does very well in the sermons and you can tell he is intelligent and intune with the spirit. He uses old and new pop culture references which allows him to not be stale with any crowd and he loves puns. He peppers those in as much as possible I think. He even records his sermons so that you can go back and listen to them again, or if you miss church you have the ability to go and listen to it from the internet. What I think I like most about him is that he truly cares about his calling. He recently moved here from a small Texas town and took to Oklahoma and the congregation immediately. Within just a short time he knew the ins and the outs, the peoples names, the worries and the woes. He attends almost all the church functions and you can truly understand that he is a man of God. Choir: The choir keeps getting better and better. What is fun is that Pastor Ken Lane joins for the bigger numbers during the service and you can see that he enjoys it. The choir has its own director and is very active with the church as well. I have seen other directors who treat this more simply and he really takes it seriously and joins in the service to lend a hand as well. Congregation: They are as lovely as they are diverse. I have always been welcomed with open arms and even get suck little snacks every once and a while from the kitchen. They are active during the service and they care deeply about everyone in the community not just in the church. Special Events: I have been to two big BBQs and it has been so much fun! Lots of food and the people can make some mean good BBQ. Also, they have some chori events and bible studies that are very fun to go to. All and all this place looks great to the point where people actually film at this location. I really enjoyed the sanctuary and the stain glass. It really makes me feel the spirit there and puts me in a place worth worshiping.
