Just purchased a home. Did closing and got the keys on Thursday afternoon. Called on Friday morning to set up account for electrical to find out that they are closed on Fridays. I have lived several places and have never had an issue setting up electrical even on weekends. So now I have to wait 3 days to get electricity...ridiculous. read more

I'll cut right to the chase: Central Lincoln PUD is shady and I don't like the way they do business. They require a deposit of $185 just to put the electricity bill in your name, and you don't get the money back until after a year. I'm living in a small apartment here for 5 months... $185 is an excessive deposit for a situation like that. I've paid bills to two other electric companies in Oregon and I never had to pay a deposit of any sort to them, even though the Lincoln PUD lady tried to convince me that this is a common practice in the state (it's not). I guess they have figured out that they can inflict any kind of hardship they want to on me since they are the only power company in Newport, so I am forced to take my only course of action which is to whine long and loud about it and not buy food or gas for awhile. In short, Central Lincoln PUD has sketchy, strange, Machiavellian business practices, and if I had an option to give my money to a different power company I definitely would. Nothing gets me riled up like being cheated out of my hard-earned money with nothing to show for it and for no apparent reason. On my first day here, I am extremely unimpressed with them, which does not bode well for the next 5 months that I must be their unwilling customer. read more

Shady business. They make it difficult to understand your billing date, pay date, and disconnect date to the point I had to write it all down on a calendar and count out everything. They also charge an extra 65 bucks if you had your electricity disconnected twice within a year. It's funny their name includes "people's" because the name in itself is a facade, they only care about $$$$$ and their bs fine print confusing policies. read more

We dealt with this "company" for 4 years. We have always paid our bills on time, and when we moved out of Newport we paid the final bill of $47, the way we always do, through our bill pay banking system. CL cashed our check. Then nearly a month later they sent us a refund check for the $47 final bill we paid, citing overpayment. That was the last we heard from them until mid January when we got notice from a collection agency saying Central Lincoln was attempting to collect a late bill of $47 that wasn't paid. When we called them to voice our frustration over them sending us to collections , their only explanation was that the final bill our bank sent had the wrong account number. The bank system uses the same account number they use for each and every of the multiple previous bills sent to them, and Central Lincoln certainly had no problem accepting those payments. Incompetence is why it happened. They claimed they sent us another bill and attempted to call us, but we have no evidence of either claim. They certainly had our correct address when they turned it over to the collection department. Beware of this company's billing department. They have no regard for their customers. read more

A bunch of scammers. No notices. And does not follow State and federal regulations because they claim to be a community owned power source. We demand due in person notice before shut off. And accurate billing information to be provided at the counter when paying a bill. read more

My family has lived in the Hauser area for 62 yrs I returned home alittle over 6 yrs ago to live in the home my folks raised me in. I'm now almost 66 yrs old My life partner Ambea is 55. I'm on a fixed income Ambea is suffering from a disabilitating condition that is still not covered by Social security. But that being said we open our doors to help others in need. Presently we havea young lady with no income uses one of our rooms 2 hadicaped veteran men over 65with very limited to no resourcse 2 handicapped 1 veteran 1 lady both in their mid 50"s We don't charge these folks hardly anything to be here Because if they were not here they would be homeless. As of today Febuary 10th we have been with out power for almost 1 mo. during some of the coldest weather this year. I was late paying my bill by 1 day of the shut off date ok my bad. But now they insist on a deposit of 800 dollars. That is 2/3 of my mo. income. I know they double your monthly average, but my monthly average for past almost a year has has been 200 or less. I think calling them selves peoples utillity company is a poor use of good words. I'm hoping someway I can resolve this but at this time it seems hopeless till T receive my next retirement check on 3rd of next mo and hand it over to them Wish us luck and may God bless us all. The PUD's current lightbulb exchange program is GREAT. New energy efficient LED lightbulbs in exchange for not so energy efficient incandescent and insensitive flourescent junk. And, at no cost. This quite a great deal. Also the young man representing PUD was prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. read more
