I recently had the misfortune of dealing with Central Maine Mustang for some used car parts. They had a listing on Craigslist for a 1968 Galaxie which was being parted out. I responded to the ad and asked Emery if he had a specific part and what the condition the part was in. I was assured that he had the parts and they where in mint condition. The price was somewhat high, but I decided to purchase in spite of that because they're difficult to find.
The big red flag should have been when I was asked to pay either by personal check or via PayPal "Friends and Family". It was stated to my by Emery of Central Maine Mustang that if I paid via Friends and family he "wouldn't have to pay any fee's". Unknown to me at the time, when you pay via Friends and Family, you lose all protections you would have had you paid via PayPal using a credit card. Unscrupulous sellers often use this method as there is no recourse whatsoever once they rip you off.
The items arrived, and due to careless packaging they were damaged. I contacted Emery and explained the issue as well as sent him pictures of the damage with absolutely no response. I waited several days and contacted him again telling him it was poor way of doing business when you ignore customers once he has their money and there's no recourse. Several weeks later and still no response.
Stay away from Central Maine Mustang as their only concern is lining their pockets with ill gotten profit. read more
