Let me set the scene to provide context. It was around 1930, the place was open but not a diner in sight (because the Spanish do not eat dinner until at least 2000). The atmosphere is that of a Mexican cantina, dim lit and rustic. We sat in the inclosed patio warmed by the heat of the glow lamps. Our waitress was extremely friendly, welcoming, and spoke great English. She aided us through the menu and provided us with her personal preferences on the menu items. Needless to say, we had great service all night. She brought us chips and salsa then took our order; afterward, the feast began. We ordered a ton of food. Some food was better than others but none was bad or gross. Here's our smorgasbord: - Strawberry margarita (delicious and perfectly balanced) - Queso dip (at first we didn't know how to approach this because they didn't provide us chips, only six tortillas. However, we got the hang of it; very tasty) - Cheese quesadilla (my son got two of these. They are what you expect in taste, simple, but small in size) - Cheesecake (this was the best part, very delicious and sweet) - Carnitas (small but good with a slight twang) - Enchiladas de mole (not my favorite. The mole was too much chocolate and not enough red chili flavor) - Enchiladas gratin (this was a good dish) - Tres leche (too much cinnamon and too wet for my taste) - Plus three coke zeros. This all cost us €89. Overall, the restaurant was good in flavor, atmosphere and service. It's a great place for drinks and a hangout. Great tacos but there were some downsides. I ordered medallones de solomillo de ternera and it was underwhelming at best. There was one medallion that was about 1/4" thick and another that was about 1/8" thick. It was tasty but not worth 16€. The experience overall was horrible due to an extremely loud group next to us. They were shouting to each other and thus we couldn't even hear the person next to us. The service was good so the experience was average at best. This was a one time experience for me. read more

Central Mexicana Restaurante & Tequila is the bomb. They make great mexican food and mix a damn tasty margarita. Don't just take my word for it, try going on a weekend for lunch or dinner and you'll see that Im not the only one. Located in a strip mall, thats right a strip mall, off the M-503 in Pozuelo tucked in between a travel agency some run-of-the-mill Spanish restaurant is this gem of a spot. Their tacos, nachos, enchiladas and guacamole are all excellent. They have a dozen or so different varieties of tacos from steak to chicken to carnitas (my favorite) and the prices aren't bad. They have a bunch of different main dishes too, Ive tried a couple of them and have consistently been impressed. Also, for me, a huge plus is that they actually are able to make spicy food - which, in my experience has been bit of a difficult thing to find here in Madrid. The staff is really awesome. The guys who run the place (brothers, I think) are often there and they are personable and fun. There are always 2-3 waitresses working and they are great with the kids. The other main plus for me is the kitchen seems to always be open. Now for you madrileños out there this is not that meaningful. But for you ex-pats who like sometimes to eat before 8:30p because by 7p your kids are screaming their heads off, bonking big time, you have no interest in cooking, its Sunday and you just want to shove a taco in their mouth so they will shut up . . . Central Mexicana will be open ready to serve your kids a bite to eat and you a cool and refreshing margarita to ease the pain. In general, I think it always merece la pena de comer en Madrid . . . but this is one place in Pozuelo that gives the mexican food in Madrid a run for its money. read more

A nice comfortable restaurant, the food was good however due to I suspect the language barrier our order (I was with a group of 5 people) got mixed up. I did not however walk away hungry since more than enough food was delived and shared by all. read more
