There is a tall gentleman that was nice as well. We exchanged pet stories and he shared a picture of his dog with me. Today I picked her up in her box. There is a nice bag they place it in and her ashes came with a dog tag and a letter. The gentleman today kept telling me he was sorry for my loss. Our vet (The Visiting Vet) comes to our house for appointments, so when we knew our guy Franks had really just fought his last night with laryngeal paralysis we called her and she agreed to come over that afternoon. Our vet had already made all the arrangements, so we did not have to do any of the work, but Life Tails was truly amazing. After our vet left at 3:45, Life Tails was there by 4:05 to pick Franks up. They were so kind. I had to leave the room because I mentally just could not handle him being taken away, but Mr. MVP said they were very super gentle and made a funny and very helpful comment on how amazing Franks coat is (the gentleman thought Franks was all hair, but this made Mr. MVP laugh because Franks was BIG - 75 pounds big). Life Tails called us just two days later and we were able to pick Franks back up. He came back to us in a wooden box that suits Franks really well. We have used other cremation services in the past and have ended up buying other pottery or boxes, but this box does Franks proud. Some non-pet people may think pet cremation is crazy, but until you have loved and been loved by a dog for 12 years you will not understand how painful it is to have a four legged family member die. Life Tails helps makes this extremely terrible process less so.

Not in a way to write up a form, but in general interest of wanting to know what important pet has left your family. My family has been in animal rescue for years and no one has ever taken that caring approach on wanting to know about the pet first. What was she like, how she mattered to you and her importance in your life. He made you feel like you indeed are dealing with a loss and it was definitely significant. Upon meeting him, it was understood why. He had a dog, Brady, that was his whole world. This dog travelled the nation with him and was his companion for years. All my extra time is now devoted to getting my dog through day six of a 10 day, extra regiment of Augmentin and a seven day regiment of doxycycline. A five-day antibiotic course is not supposed to be a universal rule for every canine UTI. It is generally intended for selected cases of uncomplicated bacterial cystitis after the dog's individual condition has been properly assessed. In my dog's case, I do not feel there was an adequate evaluation of how sick he actually was or whether his infection might have required a different approach. My concern is not simply that the treatment lasted five days, it is that a general guideline appeared to take the place of an individualized clinical assessment. ---- My dog came in with a serious UTI. Suffice to say we were back in another emergency vet once the very short course of antibiotics had run out. This time his bladder was seriously inflamed and had spread to one kidney. He is now on a longer course of antibiotics, pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs. I am typically reluctant to comment negatively on a vet practice as I know how difficult the job is, but aside from the tech working that night (she was amazing) it felt like a nightmare. The short course of antibiotics my pet was given directly lead to an incomplete cure and eventually more serious progression.
