This bank does it right! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. No judgements or anything! It's really so nice to walk into a bank and know it's gonna be a great interaction. Rather than dreading it. This is a side note I only say this because this is the location I go to the most. Everyone at the Kahului location you guys are truly such great, kind and wonderful people I think they are the A team for sure lol! There's never more than 2 tellers open. A 15 minute bank run always turns into a 45 minute ordeal. There's other people in the bank but none are interested in helping the line that is now 15 deep. Total bullshit. Do not bank here if you have anything else to do that day. read more

As far as banks go we like this one because of the Exceptional Savings Account which lets you use any ATM machine on the island for no charge. They are always very friendly and if you go often enough they will remember your name. Easy parking. The change counting machine is no longer there read more

I've never been inside this branch, this review is for the ATM outside... Which I would've given less stars but to be fair I'm making it 3. The ATM here is dated and sometimes the entire screen goes black except for "$0.00" after you reach the point where it should be dispensing money. I think maybe it does this when you've reached the daily withdrawal limit, but it's really unsettling and makes you wonder if the machine is going to eat your card, take your money or what. Other ATMs will at least print a receipt saying you reached the withdrawal limit or say so on the screen. After that I just went to American Savings Bank down the street. Won't be going back to this ATM again. read more

So I had an issue with paypal forgetting to charge me for purchases over a period of time. I'm not making this up. They sent me an email about it, told me they were going to charge me for the missed charges, even gave me a week to prepare. Unfortunately, due to COVID, I had lost my job of 17 years and did not have an income. I was receiving unemployment but there was a problem there and so I was stuck. I couldn't pay PayPal and my bank account was attached to pay pal couldn't do anything to stop the charges. There were 3 charges that attempted to process a total of three times each for a total of 9 attempts (and failures!) to process. However, CPB being the wonderful bank that it is (sarcasm) charged me a 32 dollar insufficient funds fee, otherwise knows as a NSF fee. (The total was 13 fees) And I was told by PayPal and my bank that there was nothing I could do to stop them. 13 NFS fees. Now, every single time PayPal withdrew the money, they put it back, because, obviously it wasn't 'there'. The bank however, kept charging me 32 dollars every single time the charge was attempted. All I could do was watch as my bank account kept going negative. There was nothing I could do and the bank was wholly unhelpful. They merely said it was the computer program and they couldn't do anything about it. 13 NFS fees. No charge was ever actually paid. When it was all said and done, the bank closed my account and I had to pay them over 350 dollars SOLELY DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUND FEES! Again, no charge was ever paid or successfully processed. Except for their fees. They are nice people. But when I asked them for a little empathy given my situation, they could not have been more cold, simply repeating the pat line of, it's a computer program or as in the tellers case, just remain silent. This bank is not on your side. I was a client/customer of this bank for almost 20 years. 13 insufficient funds fees. Over 350 dollars in charges. The bank did not cover a single charge. The bank saw a chance to milk an unfortunate depositor and squeeze him and did nothing to stop it. Bank here at your on risk. They are smiles to your face when you give them your money but have no problem smiling when they take it as well. Bank here at your own risk! read more

While seeking to obtain prequalification/preapproval for a loan, we received terrible service as clients. The process began with a good start as the loan officer, Linda F. appeared to be helpful and ready to assist after conducting the credit report. However, once we began submitting documents we were in the dark as far as not knowing what was occurring or where the process was going while working with them. The loan officer continued to emphasize how busy they were with other clients demonstrating that we were not as important. Therefore, we were being neglected. Emails were not being read which had documents that she requested attached nor was she returning any emails/calls. During a 3-4 week period, our time was basically wasted while working with the lender and company. I had to call to find out what was even happening with the loan several times. She finally declined doing the loan which I'm pretty sure she didn't even ready the most previous emails I had sent. If you are seeking to pursue a home loan or any loan through Central Pacific Bank, I would not recommend working with Linda F. Simply due to the fact that the communication was not present and we felt neglected as clients. Find loan officers willing to work for you and not use them being busy as an excuse. Currently working with a different bank loan officer and they have been helpful from the very beginning. After hearing the excuse after week one, we're grateful that we decided to work with more than one lender. Work with someone that is seeking the best interest of their client. read more

The customer service at this branch is terrible with the exception of two tellers. There is no consistency with procedures and bank policies. Supervisors and personal bankers are disconnected with customers. Customer service is very important because it builds rapport and trust. Numerous occasions when either a teller or banker did not know what to do. But this is the last straw I have decided to discontinue any business with this bank based on how I was treated by this branches employees. Instead of creating a solution for a problem I had, they turned me away. This particular teller could have informed me about direct deposit. So simple but no she did not think of that. The tellers need to be able to turn a problem around and even create more business but unfortunately the teller I dealt with was more concerned with proving me wrong and making me feel stupid in front of other customers waiting in line. There is no need for raising ones voice to a customer. And disclosing my information and business with others. Please be very careful when entering this branch.
