I called to make an appointment for my two kids and the receptionist asked had I been there before and I said no. she proceeded to tell me that they do not accept first time visits. I asked what and why and she abruptly placed me on hold for over 10 minutes. I knew she was never going to answer again so I hung up and called back and they have never not once answered my calls again. I don't understand why I was treated this way. So far, all dental assistants were friendly, and kind to kids. All dental rooms are also equipped with small screen for children to watch cartoons while getting their teeth clean. Dr. Chen was knowledgeable and kept me informed about my child's teeth growth. He explained what can be done at home to prevent tooth decay and that my kid will need crowns/fillings. My son is now 9 years old and has been Dr. Berni Tang's patient since the age of 3. Each visit is a joyful experience. The clinic is clean and pristine. The staff and dentists always treat their little patients and parents in a friendly and professional way. We never see them being rude and impatient to anybody, not even a single time. I am quite bewildered to see a comment saying that they are rude and impatient, because this is totally untrue. The wait is never long, because the dental assistants schedule with ample time of treatment between each appointment. Entertainment is provided in the waiting area, kids can watch a movie while waiting for their names to be called. Also, kids are welcomed to pick their favorite movie in the treatment room as well! During the entire treatment, the dental assistants and dentists always inform the parents at each step of the treatment and explain why this step has to be done, they never just do it without the knowledge of the parents. They would also remind parents what we can do at home to help keep our kids' teeth healthy and clean. After each visit, each little patient will be rewarded with free little gifts. This pediatric dentist office is highly recommended. Their weekend appointment is booked until the next month. Weekday appointments aren't too bad and you are seen around your appointment time. I have seen the office allow walk-in depending on the case. The staff are all very professional and Dr Berni Tang is so endearing. She is so good with my 4 year old daughter. Her treatments are so fast and skillful. The office is very clean with cool toys in the waiting area and each examination room has a television that is mounted to the ceiling which can be pivoted into the child's point of view. It seems like the ability to sing a pre-requisite to being a pediatric dentist. Dr. Berni has a very sweet voice and can sing like Cinderella. So I my friend referred me to this place say all the good stuff about it wanted to take my kids but unfortunately this place is impossible to get a appointment. First attempt I called in May/June they told me they not taking new patient right now okay fine. Receptionist took my information and put us on a waitlist but I never got a phone call. Called back today July 16th they told me that they are taking new patients starting in sept only Tuesday and Friday only morning appointment how is that even possible when kids starts school in sept and they offering morning hours??? And NO weekends either. She also informed me they are all booked for the year???? Seriously????? I'm so sure people cancel here and there. It's Unbelievable. We've our 2 year old son's 1st appointment here next month but have made many (4) calls prior to this visit to schedule and plan for it and to set expectations. Everytime, the explanations, the careful disclaimers, the time they take (even if I called 5m before they close), and the honesty have all made us confident in what could be a total meltdown. 2nd visit today. My 2years old are very impatient and scared of the toothbrush . The first time he went he did good bc he was still young and not remembering. Today, he cried so much to a point I'm starting to get mad bc he won't stop screaming and kicking the assistant who helped him cleaning. But she was so nice and sweet she tried everything she could to stop him from crying, and then Dr.Tang came in to see if all his teeth came in yet. My mom (who does not speak English) took my niece to this place based on recommendation of our friend. It is located inside a small building. The wait was long and the front desk person was short-tempered. She was not happy when my mom asked her how long it was going to take before my niece will be seen next. Once dental filling started, she began to cry, which is expected from a little kid. The staff and the dentist were not patient and were rude to my mom when she asked if they could wait for a second. When I saw my niece later that day, her mouth was still swollen from the procedure, and she's afraid to go back to the dentist now. It's more about taking the time to ensure patients feel comfortable, while providing top-notch dental care. I'll admit that my kids have had a lot of cavities that required a lot of restorations and several appointments. Yet every visit has been such a positive experience, that my boys only remember the stickers and the Pokemon mini figure they can bring home. There is also a TV in the room, so the kids can watch and can be distracted when they are lying down for checkup.
