Prior to starting my new job, I was told to go to Central Valley Occupational Medical Group. Place was packed with patients when I first arrived so I had to wait outside after checking in because there was no available seat in their waiting area. Did not wait too long before a seat became available. 10 minutes after that, I was called into one of the exam rooms. Overall, my visit totaled a little over an hour. A lot faster than I thought it would be. The doctor who helped me was terrific. The employee who had me conduct all the physical tests was cool. In fact, all the staff members who assisted me were quite nice and professional. Good job CVO!! read more

After almost 4 months of treatment here at CVO I am nearing the end of my chiropractic sessions with Dr. Romer and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Not only was he very thorough and willing to educate, but it was also a very short wait every single time (if a wait at all.) Although the waiting room can look a little intimidating by the amount of patients, I was always in and out. The time I had during my appointments were utilized well and efficiently. I never had a bad experience with any of the staff here and I was always made to feel comfortable and had confidential privacy as well. I can say that after my treatment with both Dr. Romer and Dr. Heiss as well; I feel significantly better and feel equipped with more knowledge of how to avoid what led me here in the first place! Dr. Romer's "dad jokes" were always just an added bonus Extra shoutout to Clarissa (Dr. Romer's scheduler) She's amazing! Even came a donated blood at my work again (at Houchin Blood Bank) after having conversations about it during my visits. As well as Dr. Heiss' Medical Assistant. Horrible, it took over and an hour and 15 minutes to do my drug test for my new job. Showed up right when they opened. Filled out paperwork quickly. Only 2 people in the office at the time when they first opened. When I left 40. Would not recommend to have your drug test done there, if your employer gives you a choice. read more

I was sent here for my pre-employment physical test. The wait time wasn't too bad, the girls at the front desk should've been a little friendlier though! Went to this location as per requested by my employer for a screening. I noticed at least three staff members interacting with patients that had no masks on or wearing them inappropriately. In a time like this one would think doctors offices would be clean and safe. Not here. read more

This place is horrible. My employer instructs us to come here for frequent Covid testing and the parking situation and waiting underneath a car port, blocking other cars is ridiculous. When you call to check in, you're on hold for 5-10 minutes before they even help you, they tell you it's going to be 15-20 minutes before someone comes to test you and the girls who test are extremely rude. Don't recommend, employers should consider other offices that deal with employee testing and workers comp. read more

This place is so short staffed yet the schedule for a full staff. The wait time is unnecessary and inconvenient. No one expects to come in for routine medical appointments and sit for an unspecified amount of time. The staff who is clearly overwhelmed is rude because of this. I give this place a 1 out of 5 stars and wouldn't recommend. Don't come here unless you have to and as an employer please don't send your employees here either. read more

It's amazing how chiro sessions can really help someone recover from an injury. Dr. Romer even made it better through his professionalism and sense of humor, by providing patient-centered care and by engaging a positive healing enviroment for the patients. I just hope their sessions are not limited to only twice a week due to doctor's availability. Nonetheless, I think their department is great in general. There is no privacy here. All the workers are to busy trying to dress to impress to worry about safety. Fake nails, eyelash extensions, hair down.... talk about infection control. Wondering if they are monitored by Osha or the health department. I am now well informed about the front desks personal lives while everyone knows why I was sent here due to loud conversations. HIPPA, infection control, and common sense needs to be addressed. read more

This center is located right off of the west side parkway a little bit before Oak street. It's not too hard to find as there is a big sign along the street. Pulling in, it's not too bad, there's plenty of parking. Now to get to the place, you have to climb a set of stairs as it's on the second floor. When you go in you can find a large waiting area with lots of seat. It would probably need a little ramp up in my opinion. But anyway, usually the check in is the fastest part... because everything after that, you can expect to be here for a while. I've been going just to get blood work done. Every time I check in WITH appointment, I'm still left in the waiting room for at 30-40 mins. I'd say the only person with a positive attitude is one of the receptionist. She's got a good upbeat attitude. Sometimes a little too much... Everything else, the girls taking your blood pressure, or the discharge people... just straight up no personality, no enthusiasm, NOTHING... no one seems to want to be there... Every time I'm checking out, I gotta literally wave to let them know I'm there. Today is my last day so I seriously do hope I don't have to come back. I got my blood drawn last week, waited forever already... and they had me come back just for the doctor to give me the results... it's 2019, why can't you just email the results? They said we don't have the capacity? Really? I've had plenty of other place do it. So after another 40 mins wait (with appointment again might I add) I see the doctor for him to tell me everything is good... 2 mins btw and walks out. I walk towards the discharge, and the ladies there on the computer and their phone, chatting a laughing about something as I am writing this review and I am pretty much at about this point. I was dreading getting yet another drug test required for my background check for a new contract. Every time I get a new assignment I have to get drug tested. So I have had several over the past 7 1/2 years. CVO is the best place I have been to so far. It has a clean, large and comfortable waiting room. The front desk staff are very pleasant and helpful. The wait was about 40 minutes and I completed everything within an hour of arriving. I have to use a toilet hat for the drug test and they do not have these, but the young lady gave me a wash basin to use and it worked out. Other places I have been are small and depressing. At another place, there was the gestapo drug police hovering and I was very uncomfortable. So if you are directed to CVO the experience is not at all bad. read more

This is my 1st and hopefully only time coming here. I had to do a physical and this is where I was sent. The building looks okay from the outside, but the inside needs work. The bathroom they put me in to do my urine test had cardboard covering the sink. How do they wash hands? I was unable to actually do my urine test because they gave me a flimsy drinking cup to catch the specimen in. I'm a big girl and need the specimen collector that sits on the toilet. Unlike the reviews under me, I don't really have a problem with the front desk or the actual place. It's a specific doctor that I think is extremely rude that makes this whole experience unpleasant. Her name is, Catherine Grace Hawthorne and she has to be the rudest doctor I've ever came across. She's not concerned with your pain or discomfort. She's more concerned about scolding you on what you should or should not be doing. I messed up my back pulling a produce truck and she had the nerve to say, "why don't you fill the pallets with less stuff so it's not so hard to pull"? I looked at her and replied "ma'am it doesn't work like that, we don't control what's on the pallet. She then proceed to ask me if I've been doing my exercises lunges and I replied yes some, but not all of them cause I've been in too much pain. She then scolds me about fighting through it and making it to 100. I'm like yea, that's a lot easier said than done when you're in pain. Right then and there I knew she wasn't for the actual patient. Again, I have no problem with this place. Receptionist have been nothing, but nice to me and I haven't had to wait long to be seen either. My issue is with that one doctor, CATHERINE GRACE HAWTHRONE!!! She just flat out rude and doesn't care anything about your problems. Proceed with caution read more

Maybe it's me and my outdated expectations. Maybe it's Bakersfield. When I walk into a medical office, I expect EVERYONE, medical assistants, cashiers, and doctors alike to maintain a sense of professionalism and decorum. When were long, fake fingernails approved for medical offiices? I witnesses a medical assistant (or nurse, I'm not sure) draw blood from a man while fumbling with the vials with her absurdly long fake nails. Gross. Dirt, bacteria, and other gross things live under there lady! I don't care how often you wash your hands. Not to mention, who can wear gloves over those things? In spite of all of that, this small occupational medicine office DID process me and get me my flu shot in under 15 minutes. Literally. The flu shot was paid for by my company, so I didn't really have a choice in where to go, so I guess I can't really complain. read more

I came here to get my physical done for my new job and I really liked how they checked everything to make sure I was in good shape I've gotten many physical test done on me before but every time I would get on they wouldn't check me from head to toe like CVO did. I also got a little allergic reaction to the TB shot and the doctor didn't want to relieve me until the allergic reaction went away she made sure I wasn't having any severe pain or reaction from the shot. I arrived at 7:55am for a TB test for employment. I had all of my documents & signed in. There was about 25 other people in the waiting room. At 8:36, they called me up to get a copy of my license and said I would be called shortly. I didn't get called back until 9:10am & was back there less than 30 seconds. I had to come here for a follow-up apt for an injury at work. I waited over two hours to be seen. I asked the receptionist how long it will be to be seen. Both times I asked they stated I was next. This is the worst facility for workmans compensation care, I knew it was not going to be right the very 1st day, the front desk service was impersonal cold uncaring and so was the xray technician, she got on the phone and called her boyfriend while i waited listening to her conversation on a cold table just after a injury. I contacted a eye infection 2 weeks in a row, as they see hundreds of injured workers a day and they do not clean the tools we use for therapy. The girls are argumentative and send missed apointment letters with the words "Failure" written in 1 inch letters across the page, I filed a complaint with the office manager regarding their conduct and that only made my experience with the office staff worse. I over heard the girls gossiping about me on 2 occasions when the phone wasnt completely hung up so I called back to tell them I over heard them and they passed the phone to another desk clerk saying that the office manager quit working the day before and Tiffany was the new manager which I am sure was a lie. The phone lines were not working for 3 weeks so my care was put on hold for that amount of time bcuz I couldn't reach the office and I worked everyday and live 100 miles round trip from the office, the girls are unprofessional, mean, nasty and have no business working in a medical profession which takes in the least some compassion and professionalism. The young men were so mesmerized by a female patient wearing clothing that was obvious to attract their attention however they were so caught up in her show, that they forgot they had patients waiting for care. Awful place. I switched my care to Santa clarita and I am healing with the sound professional care I have found there. read more

Horrible place. They are always late. Not like 20/30 Ming behind but like and hour+. This is my SOs primary for workers comp and they are never concerned with his pain or actually helping. Just try to push him back to work without actually helping or caring. We went over to SCOI down the street and they are soooo much more helpful and actually got him the surgery he needed and care. I Was getting treatment by this place for a couple months I was basically giving this place the benefit of the doubt but I was so wrong I felt like I was just another pt. At this place NVR felt like they cared except one med assistant but I herd she was fired after I left :\...i felt like I had to literally b the biggest complainer n rudest person to get the treatment I needed I struggled for a while thinking this is all the help I was going to get until I kept seeing ppl being treated better then me....this place doesn't care your all just a number n it would always take forever to b seen for a 10 min follow up but thats cuz other pt. Were more important and In need BS...ITS CUZ THEY GET PAID MORE FOR EACH CRITICAL PT. NVR again will I go there ! How ever the physical therapy side was so great I think that's only thing I wish I could have was the physical therapy they were very understanding n encouraging n most of all CLEAN!....word of advise only recommend the physical therapy everything else HORRIBLE!! The place was nice and kept up well and the people were also nice. The issue I had with them was when I gave the nurse my piss sample she didn't like it. She asked 2 other nurses about it and they said it was a normal sample and could except it. The nurse asked what she should do with it when the others nurses told her it was fine but up to her she poured it out and asked for another one. I was able to pee a little more after but it wasn't enough. I tried to pee again for 3 hours and couldn't give the nurse enough to be satisfied. The nurse put in the report I refused to give a sample and I missed out on the job I have been waiting for. Now I have to wait one more year. I hope I never have to go back to this place again. read more
