Its a very nice building. Unfortunatly, it is not properly maintained. Weidner is doing what my other landlords/rentiers do, which is to only ever apply bandaid solutions rather than fix root problems. The building has signs saying masks are required, given the current state of COVID in Regina. However, most residents, and many staff, do not follow this rule. There is also seeminly no attempt at enforcement, which puts many residents in an unjustly risky situation. The building has a problem with cockroachs, but staff will not inform you of this before renting. However, if you keep a generally clean home, this will only be an issue when repairs are done. After making complaints about a lack of notice for entrence into my suite, the staff adapted and now always give 24hs notice. This is greatly appreciated, but really shouldnt need to be asked for. You will have arbitrary rent increases when your lease comes up. These are generally explained as, "you where previously on a promotional price", which is less than ethical. Marijuana smoke is banned, but no space is given for its use. In direct violation of current tenents rights. However, the city does not enforce tenent rights, so this is unlikely to change. My biggest concern is that Weidner kneecaps residents access to internet by refusing Fibre Optic installs. Leaving it to be one of the only buildings downtown to not have fibre. This will be a larger issue as local ISPs shut down DSL connections. Now for the good. The building has a tonne of washers a dryers for use. It has a nice little gym. Indoor parking is reasonably priced. And, the staff is polite and responsive. The views from balconies are great! In conclusion, the building is great but weidner is not. That being said, I do not feel as though they are necessarily worse than other rental firms in the city. Looking forward to when my lease is up and they try to raise my rent by another $100/$200, so I can laugh in their face and refuse. I am writing this review in response to the reply I got for my previous review. I would love spend time explaining the entire situation on the day of incident. We were cooking in our kitchen with the exhaust fan on top of the stove on and the fire alarm in our room went off three times in half an hour. We were tired of climbing up and down the chair to turn off the fire alarm. smoke was building up in the room from all the cooking and we need ventilation to let the bulit in smoke to clear out. Both our patio door and bedroom windows are sealed shut with plastic because it has been leaking cold air. The plastic was stuck to these door and window after multiple repair request. And even now the door and window is leaking cold air. But I am just fed up of putting repair request. And we have phoned the office downstairs and explained this problem multiple times but they said this was all they could do instead of actually repairing the door and window. So it was not the lack of communication that caused this problem! On the day when the fire alarm was going off, the actual problem was the lack of ventilation in the room. And so we had to rip open a part of the plastic from the door and bedroom window so that all that smoke could go off. We opened our apartment door for cross-ventilation, which was a unintentional mistake on our part because we were unaware of the fact that there was a sensor right above our door. As soon as all the building management came up to our floor we told them that it was from the cooking and not an actual fire. And they looked at everything and went off. But then after a minute Meha barged back right into our room and with such an anger told my roommate that since she has to pay a fine of $600 for false fire alarm , she is going to charge it on us!! There was no enquiring about the situation ...just direct order that we HAVE to pay her! If that is how an office staff manages her tenants..I do not think this place will have many people living here. Meha saw our patio door's plastic open and accused that we had opened it on purpose to let our dog play in the patio. Why would I let my dog play outside without any winter clothes on in this brutally cold weather?! She wouldn't listen to what I was telling her and responded stating, " Is there anyone SENSIBLE to whom I can talk?" which clearly shows that she is disrespecting my words and accusing me to be out of my mind! Oh and the solution she gave us was to fan off the smoke from in front of the fire alarm in our room which we were already doing even before she barged into our room because it is not something that we do not know already! So my whole point of writing this big essay here is that we have talked enough and more times with the office staff and haven't received any satisfactory solutions. We do not have any ventilation in our room which is the root cause of all this problem! All the more after this incident it clearly shows that she doesn't know how to deal with people or solve a problem. I am just waiting for my lease to end to get out of this place. read more

The building is great. Cons - 24h notice is NEVER given when staff needs to enter tenants suites. - Repairs on promoted features can take months to be completed, with no accompanying rent reduction. - The building is broken into on a semi-regular basis, including the parking garage. (Largely a location issue) - There is no emergency lighting during power outages, in halls or stairwells. - Only one staff member for repairs, plumbing and electrical work, clearly overworked for a building of this size. - Rooftop patio is not very well maintained. - Only AccessComm has high speed internet in the building. After inquiring with SaskTel as to if they where planning on adding fiber optics to the building, I was told SaskTel was refused access to the building for upgrades. - Second half of security deposit is required within 2 weeks of moving in, instead of the legally mandated 6 weeks. - General disregard for tenant rights and the responsibilities agreed to as a rentier. - Maintenance requests being marked as completed without any work done. - Poor communication between maintenance and building management. Pros - Building management and staff are nice and easy to talk to. - Excellent views from balcony. - Rent is close to market value. - Generally clean. - Lots of washers an dryers. - Was quick to implement competent COVID restrictions. - Reasonably priced parking, with power. - Pet friendly. - Water and heat are included in rent. - Excellent online rent payment and maintenance request system. read more

The management is spotty at best. There were at least 3 directors in one year. They will say that they will be in the office for a scheduled meeting, but even if you confirm it you may be met with a closed office. The maintenance requests were either done quickly (closet door, toilet) or not at all (had a sporadically leaking hole in the bathroom for about 6 months and was still there when I moved out). The place itself is conveniently located. However, not one that is great at night - there's a lot of panhandlers that approach you. For a few months and at times afterwards, there were people sleeping in the foyer. Had an apartment on the Broad St. side. The Hookah Bar below usually means yelling and broken glass Thursdays-Saturdays - open your window at your own risk of sleep interruptions although sometimes you heard it even with it closed. The video billboard meant bright flickering light all night. What was nice was seeing the Pride Parade, but that's about the only good thing about being on that side of the building. When the apartment was moved into, the place was not cleaned. When it was move out time, the walk-through didn't occur for 3 days after the SCHEDULED time (which was unilaterally cancelled by management but left me with 45 minutes of waiting). Had to contact them to finally get it done. They won't give you your security deposit until the walk-through is complete (even if it's their fault for the no-show), apartment cleaned (even if it wasn't when you got it), carpets professionally done, and all keys returned. read more

At first it's highly recommended but few months later, you will know why this apartment shows its true old color. Yes, quite nice outside look, from balcony lobby. But you will rent the room not the 'well-maintained' outside look. Here are some that I encountered on my 1 year of renting. - Live in high rise apartment? How about living in 10th floor and up and fire alarm rang? Fire alarm in this apartment is notorious, it will rang for about 2 to 3x per month. - Say hi to your smoking homeless neighbour in 2nd main door. - Main door lock always have a problem. ALWAYS - Spring time! Wet floor in the lobby because of water from the ceiling. - COCKROACH EVERY NIGHT (so many little cockroach and Im not kidding. IT SUCKS) - Smell of smoking weeds in balcony (Every god damn day, made my son sick) - Carpet flooring that's so hard to maintain (specially for a year) and of course if you're going to move out, there's the DEPOSIT FEE that you paid in advance. I only got 100$ from my same rent DEPOSIT FEE that I paid. the only thing that we left dirty is the flooring. Think twice now, THEY MEAN BUSINESS. - Management, yes they are open to anything that you ask and to request BUT make sure you have written agreement on everything that you request to them. They will say anything and give you everything BUT when the time you will confront them to anything that you discussed? They will turn you to a freaking liar and make a statement that they need written statement or agreement but of course you will present nothing. Good decision that I moved out. read more

1) Several attempts to change the carpet, it was my mistake I did trusted the management so it will be done with out written documentation, after few months it was stated me that no body talked about the carpet change and after 5 months it is being said the management cannot change the carpet. 2) Have requested three times to change the kitchen counter as the kitchen faucets area is broken and water drops underneath. Not happy with repair, as it was being repaired with white material which is not working properly. 3) Today 25/Nov/2016, its not the first enjoyable day when we don,t have hot water in our apartment. The frequency of not having water or not having hot water is really high. It f**k our dinner meeting as we cannot do take shower. read more

After writing my review, I was contacted by Sarah, who has gone out of her way to make us feel comfortable and accommodate us. Not only did she listen to us, she actually did something to address our issues. She recognizes and understands our concerns, which is definitely a breath of fresh air for the management of this apartment. Compared to the previous directors, Sarah is by far the best. read more
