A Timeless Event - With Dorothy, our wonderful officiant!

I got Dorothy's contact information at one of the bridal shows. After a few email exchanges, I felt…read morevery comfortable with her. When Henry and I went to meet with her and Rick for the consultation, we book them that very same day without hesitation. We were so impressed at how organized they were. The whole ceremony was broken down into smaller parts. For each part, we were given 4 choices on how we want the Officiant to address it. We wanted a really fun, semi-formal secular feel to our wedding so we mainly chose readings that talk about love and friendships. It was very easy to schedule the rehearsal date. They always show up on time. Dorothy responds to emails almost immediately. She was very kind to send up reminders on what else is missing way ahead of time. I wholeheartedly recommend them. If you want, check out the highlight of our wedding. This is what Henry decided to do for "a song:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2STNxFq8Sw

I contacted Rick and Dorothy for day-of coordination for my wedding day. I explained to them that…read morethe wedding was on the minimalist end (e.g., no bridal party, no cake cutting, no bouquet tossing, etc.) and asked them to consider a rate reduction. They explained that their price was firm and they could not negotiate. I thanked them for responding to my inquiry and explained that we would not be procuring their services as the price was outside of our budget. Here is my email: Hi Rick and Dorothy: Thanks for the response. I totally understand that your prices are set based on the work you provide and have no doubt that the price is worth it. We have several miscellaneous services that we decided to add on after we established our original budget--the day-of coordinator being one of these services--and are tied by our supplemental budget. That said, we cannot afford to procure your services. Thank you for your time and best of luck. Regards, Teresita Their response to my decision not to go with them was unprofessional and a bit unsettling. Here is their response to my email: Teresita, Best of luck to you... you will need it. Thank you for contacting A Timeless Event. Sincerely, Rick Gonzales Wedding Officiant Certified Wedding and Event Planner Dorothy Gonzales Wedding Officiant Wedding Photographer Certified Wedding and Event Planner "Best of luck to you . . . you will need it." If you're planning an event, you know it's stressful and you worry about things going wrong. When someone tells you that you're going to need luck, it just adds to the loads of stress. Rick and Dorothy's response was just plain mean. Although we didn't end up procuring their services for our wedding and cannot speak to the quality of their services, I can speak to the quality of their professionalism--err, or more appropriately, lack thereof. Professionalism is a must for wedding planners who are expected to deal with vendors and guests. In my correspondence with Rick and Dorothy, they failed to exercise professionalism.

If you are just browsing through for an Officiant. You can just stop here, and contact Mitch…read more Talk about things happening for a reason. Our plan A; Family Member, and B; Friend that we had asked to Officiate our Wedding BOTH backed out 9 days before our Wedding. I frantically spent the night searching for a replacement via social media with no luck since it was too last minute. I sent Mitch a message via Yelp, and he responded within 15 min :) Oh was I relieved. He kept continuous contact with us as the day approached. He was on time, and very professional. My only regret is that I did NOT find him sooner. My Husband, and I wish we could have participated in his Personalized Wedding. But I could not pencil in a meeting within a 9 day time frame :( We can not thank Mitch enough for giving us such a beautiful ceremony!!

If I could do NO STARS I would…read more DO NOT HIRE. Unprofessional, unprepared, and an absolute waste of money. Mitch Darnell officiated my daughter's wedding and failed on every single level. First, he was a complete no-show at the rehearsal the day before. When the actual ceremony began, his first move was to walk away from the microphone and stand awkwardly in front of the bride and groom--something I have never seen an officiant do. Worse, he was entirely unprepared and had absolutely nothing to say. He completely ignored the written script and the specific vows the couple had provided to him well in advance. Instead of guiding them, he skipped the traditional exchanges entirely--he never even prompted them with the standard, "I, [Name], take thee, [Name], to be my wedded..." or any variation of the "I dos." Instead, he put them on the spot, forcing them to come up with impromptu vows in front of everyone. While they stumbled initially, their heartfelt, off-the-cuff words ended up being the only redeeming and wonderful part of the ceremony. To make matters worse, I paid him $400, which is an obscenely high rate for someone who didn't even attend the rehearsal and spent less than an hour total on the job. In fact, he was at the wedding for only about 30 minutes total. That brief half-hour even included the signing of the marriage license, which he absurdly incorporated as part of the ceremony itself. I have never seen that done before, and I strongly suspect that because he is a fraud who does not actually know how to officiate weddings, he wanted to use the signing as "ceremony filler." We did not let him and made the signing directly after the ceremony but he was extremely impatient and wanted to leave the venue as soon as possible. Do not hire this man. Avoid him and his company, "Forever Inspired" with web at that name dot net. at ALL costs. He is absolutely worthless as an officiant and ruined what should have been a beautiful, prepared ceremony. The rest of the wedding was great and we are glad he had no hand in any of the festivities afterward. Mitch Darnell is a con-man and a fraud! Do not give this man any of your money.
