I believe cold food orders can be average from many places even this place depending on what you order, however if you order their hot catered meals then you will be surprised how well the stuff is made. Everything is delivered in a manner that allows easy setup from cold plates and hot plates alike. My office does a lot of catering and I've personally used several places in the area and Certe has become my favorite. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. We stopped by for lunch the other day with a Living Social voucher we had bought. As much as I love using these vouchers, I always dread it a little because you never know how the staff at the restaurants you're going to will react to them. The staff here was great. They were friendly and really passionate about their food as they talked us through some of the display case. We ended up ordering the Pesto Chicken Sandwich, Philly Cheesesteak, and a side of Wedge Fries. My chicken sandwich was delicious. It had fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and the perfect amount of pesto. I really enjoyed it . I can't speak for my husband's cheesesteak, but he seemed to really enjoy it, too. The wedges were really good, too, and for $3 you got more than enough to split between two people. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed a sign that said "40% off all display items after 2:30." We love places that do this, so after we used our voucher we ended up getting their Mac and Cheese in a different transaction. I think the guys working liked how excited my husband got about the food, because they threw in a chicken salad sandwich, too. The sandwich was really good, and the Mac was delicious--some of the best I've ever had. We ended up saving it and eating it a few days later with some friends. We split it 4 ways and had leftovers. I have used Certe three times for catering major work events for our Board of Directors and they all rave about the food, and I love it for my own selfish reasons too because they always have such a good variety. Great meat and non-meat options. Very affordable for catering events, especially for what they offer. I highly recommend Certe for any events! Favorites from the menu are the breakfast wraps, breakfast burritos and the little TEA SANDWICHES! I went in to Crete this morning to buy a breakfast sandwich before going to work. The Counter Manager, Joshua assisted in ringing me up, but there seemed to be an issue with my card! After the second attempt and the card still not working, he stated that today breakfast was on him! After insisting several times that I could pay, he still insisted on me having a good morning and breakfast being in the house. Fabulous customer service. My order went to the wrong address and the staff called to apologize by explaining that they would like to remake the order so that the food was hot when it arrived to me. I got a small eggplant pizza that was incredibly filling and the pizza was great! Incredible deal. I also ordered French onion soup and I would order again. I have been very impressed by this place thus far. I discovered it on Groupon and have continued to come back every week. Some days it can take a bit longer to get your food, but everything here is super fresh and tasty and their $10 entree and two sides plate is a great deal. All of their meat dishes have been excellent, especially their salmon and turkey, and the sides have been great as well--though I am partial to their roasted broccoli. I chose roasted salmon, shiitake mushroom brown rice, and stir fried veges. I worried the saltiness of the salmon reading a previous review, but it was just right amount of salt and it was actually good! They might consider the reviews on Yelp. It turned out that they run out of stir fried veges, then they gave me a lot of roasted vegetables in a different container. I'm always down for veges. Such a friendly and nice people. The amount was good and I could not eat them all. They have various kinds of delis, soups, sandwiches and pastries. For a midtown deli and caterer, Cer-té is remarkably adept at marketing. When it comes to marketing their lunch sandwich specials, management pulls a culinary Don Draper and time and time again comes up with innovative and gourmet specials and marketing blitzes. This knack for marketing has made them the darlings of food blogs such as midtownlunch.com. Attention is rightly deserved for their creations, such as the "Thanksgiving Dip" wrap, a devious concoction of house roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and cranberry chutney - completed by a side of gravy. Another favorite of mine is called the "Gulfano", or Southwestern Cuban Sandwich - Braised pork butt (again home made), tomatillos and a jalapeno mustard on a pressed baguette. Have I rambled enough about their sandwiches? OK, one more - their gourmet take on a lamb gyro would make any halal cart blush. Braised lamb leg, caramelized onions and house made tzatziki is cradled in a soft pita pocket. An upscale take on classic street meat, it's utterly delicious. Read between the lines of my gushy assessment of their food and you realize that quality comes at a price, and the food at Cer-té tests my lunch budget. You know what, I think I loved the dressing more than my salad as they are introducing the new bacon vinaigrette - I quickly decided to ditch my original balsamic flavor. Salad was made on a customization basis - you choose one protein, one top and then the dressing. They have many healthy choices as I was getting my organic salmon. I returned last Thu to Cer té to try the Softshell Crab sandwich ($8.95). It was decent, but the bread wasn't all that great. The actual softshell crab was a generous helping. Tartar sauce and a spicy sauce were provided on the side. The side slaw and potatoes looked pretty, but weren't good and are worth skiping. As with the Chubby Chinese Girl sandwich, the meat was good, but the sandwich itself needs refinement. So I went over to Cer-te to give their sandwiches a try. I went on a Tuesday and Thursday. I can tell you I was not disappointed at all with their menu and their service. It does get hectic during lunch time but what place in mid-town doesn't? Had the chubby chinese girl on Thursday and it was fantastic! Duck with the shredded cucumber slices in it and red onion and then top it off with a sweet hoisin plum sauce on toasted bread (bread was a little burnt but I won't hold it against them) just had a party in my mouth when I took a bite into it. We checked this spot out and it was a great place. We happened to come shortly before closing and noticed that the items in their display case were 40% off because it was the end of the day. We had already ordered 2 sandwiches that they were making and decided to add a mac and cheese because it looked really good and was 40% off. I'm glad we ordered that because it was excellent. The sandwiches were very good too. I had a cheese steak and my wife had another sandwich. We enjoyed them very much. As the guy was packing up our food he asked us to choose between 2 sandwiches.
