Certapro painted our entire first floor of our home Sept. 2025. I want to start by saying this was one of, if not the best experience I have with a home contractor. We are preparing our home for sale in the near future and painting was one of our first big projects. Craig and Juan were the best guys I ever had work in our home ! They were on time every morning and always happy to be there. The work was as close to perfect as a job could be. Other than our home looking incredible, you would have never known they were here!!! I cannot say enough great things about this company, but most of all our painters Craig and Juan. After over 2 weeks of them working in our home (the house is 7000 sq feet) , I was almost bummed that it was over. We had been putting off painting, but if I had any idea it would go so well I would have done it a long time ago. Thank you CertaPro, but most of all thank you Craig and Juan. We went to the Springfield Home Expo in April hoping to find a painter because contractors in this state seem to be flaky and don't even return calls for us to get bids. We stopped at the CertaPro Painters booth, spoke with Brendan, made an appointment for an estimate and we're happy Brendan showed up when he said he would. We thought finally a contractor that shows up and we can use...we were wrong. The one star is because Brendan showed up, but after we told him we purchased paint and were not sure how much of the job we could get done things went downhill. We reached out to get a revised estimate and start date, after a week of no response we called Brendan again. He apologized as he'd been out of town and would give us a revised estimate, well we never heard from Brendan again. We reached out to another painter, luckily he came when he said, we had him give an estimate as Brendan originally did. We ended up using this painter, price was better, and we decided to get everything painted as initially estimated by Brendan because we decided to keep the deck and shed. We've gotten several compliments from neighbors who are thinking of painting their homes. We liked Brendan, we let him know at the expo how other painters/contractors have flaked and he said he/CertaPro would never do that, we are extremely disappointed that Brendan did what others have done. Our neighbors used the term he "ghosted" us so the other painter will be getting their business. read more

Pretty average to poor workmanship and lackluster attention to detail. Seemed like they were in a rush to finish the job and overlooked all the little things. They also started out with the wrong paint, luckily we noticed early enough. Also damaged the finish on our floors. They did offer a discount because of the damage, which is nice, but I would rather have had the job done right in the first place. They were cheaper than other quotes we got, I guess you get what you pay for. read more

My experience was very disappointing. my home was left in disarray. Paint is all over my flooring and many spots were not painted well or thoroughly. A painter was sent back to fix things, but I find areas that were done well every single day. I have reached out to the owner, but I have not heard back. An acknowledgment that what I experienced is unacceptable would have gone a long way. I would not recommend CertaPro. read more

We had several ceilings that needed repair and paint. They did an incredibly wonderful job. In addition, they painted 4 bedrooms. After a few hiccups Ceasar and Lewis came Wednesday to paint new crown molding and new doorway that we had installed. Very polite, clean and professional. I will recommend this team and plan to use them when we have the other doorway installed. What I forgot that Chris who gave us the estimated was very professional. Came in with laser tape measure and computer, gave us the estimate on the spot. read more

I should have saved my money and painted my condo myself. Granted I received a discounts for the mistakes, but it should have been done right the first time. Pride in workmanship and attention to detail was not taken. Tarps where not put over furniture, paint got all over my bathroom vanity, my bed and kitchen cupboards. Many spots near bash boards where missed, horrible job on drywall patching. Electrical outlet covers where not taken off and painted underneath. I see something everyday that was missed or a mistake made, and I get so irritated/upset!! Do not waste your money or time getting involved with this company! read more

Poor communication and did not properly scrap or sand house and paint is already chipping $7,000 for poor workmanship , guarantee house will have to redone within a year . Would not ever recommend read more

I'm sure they might be great at their job, if you can actually get an estimate out of them. I contacted them on 9/21/15 to get an estimate to paint the entire inside of my home that is for sale. The appointment was set for 9/23/15, it was then rescheduled to 9/24/15 and finally to 9/25/15. Mark spoke to the realtor and did get a one day code and that is the last I have heard of him. I called and left messages on: 9/28/15, 10/1/15, 10/3/15 and finally on 10/6/15. Each time I spoke to Stephanie and once to the call center that told me Mark would call me back. I haven't heard from him at all. He can't even be bothered to call and tell me when an estimate will be ready for me. I would guess that they have too much business and don't need mine. read more

Can't comment on quality, but they have strung me out for 5 months. Have tried numerous times to get a correct estimate for the job. They will send you automated responses on texts and email. I called the office again for the 4th time and was assured a correct estimate would be sent same day. That was 3 days ago. If time and communication is important to you I would suggest somewhere else read more

While dealing with Kaleb and the office manager Sophia was a pleasure, I can't the same about the first crew of painters or the production manager Troy. Tasked with painting a single room, the painters applied a sloppy first layer rather than the two layers of paint written in the contract. They provided no protection for my floors or furniture, in fact, they put the can of paint directly on my furniture. When I complained about the job done, Troy disputed it, arguing that the painters bough two cans of paint, therefore two cans were used. He had to backtrack when he saw the room, after which his argument became that there must have been a "dark green color" on my walls (they were beige) for the layer underneath to be visible. Still with no apology, he arranged for a second painter--actually a nice guy unlike the first crew--to finish the job weeks later. Just don't bother with this poorly-run company. read more

I had the interior of my house painted in 2012 by certaPro and they did a excellent job so when I needed some more painting done this spring of course we called them again. The estimate was good so we decided to go with them again. I did not know that the company changed owners. The first time they sent out union painters ,very professional used no tape on corners and trim. This spring 2020 they sent out a group of Hispanics only one spoke English that I could communicate with. They used painters tape on everything. The bathroom started peeling a few weeks after they were done. I called and they came back out and repainted it in spots. A few months later guess what it peeled again. Now the walls also look like the pain color before is coming though also. Not the quality of work that we got the first time. I guess I will have it redone by qualified painters now. read more

Contracted to paint a gable and two new eight foot windows. Crew that showed up was from Bloomington, did not have proper equipment, nor necessary supplies. Bushes in front of windows, (which they know about) required a scaffolding, but they didn't have one, so they tried to stand on the hedges and broke off limbs. They only had a 14" to reach a 24' top of the gable, so they climbed on the roof, and laid down and reached over to try and paint. The two young men who were left by the "boss", tried to do their best, but they were limited on what they could do as they just did not have the necessary tools. Paint was left on the window glass, job required two coats and in many places they only did one, primer was not used on areas that were scrapped because they didn't have any, and some areas of windows were not finished. I would NOT have them back or recommend them. read more

We hired CertaPro to pressure wash and stain our exterior fence. The person responsible for the pressure wash used equipment that ran constantly without a trigger on the wand. He worked on a weekday and when we arrived home saw that he was hanging the wand on the fence when he needed to move the equipment or step away for any reason. Essentially, each time he needed to take a break our lawn was being pressure washed. We quickly took a cell phone video just in case but were hopeful that this only occurred the one time. Unfortunately a few days later the grass was dead in numerous spots along the fence. We contacted CertaPro, who sent someone to look at the issue. We showed this person the lawn and the video to which they replied "but it's water, it should be good for the lawn". In full disclosure, they did offer to throw some seed on our lawn. Anyone who has attempted to overseed a lawn will agree that summer is not an effective time to do this ultimately yielding little results. In the end we completed one project but created another. The fence did come out nicely, which is what we paid for. The lack of accountability, poor customer service and additional lawn care was not included in our quote. I'd recommend saving yourself some frustration and going with another one of the many companies willing to do this work in the Bloomington/Normal area. read more
