With the beer, we got a combination of empanadas (chicken and beef) that were very hot and very delicious. Smaller but packed with tasty goodness. As well, an interesting quinoa pizza. I'd call it a flatbread, but there was no bread. The base of it was pressed quinoa and then topped with cheese and tomato sauce and basil. Different and interesting.

The drink is essentially a very sweet wine combined with pineapple ice cream. Who and why someone came up with this concoction is anyone's guess - but the drink is certainly sweet; a little too sweet. I can see how this would be refreshing on a hot summer day, though not essentially a normal drink to order. Seems like a cool spot with outdoor seating and a dimly lit interior. While getting our beers we realized they only accepted cash and so my husband went to go find the nearest ATM. He was gone for sometime because many of the nearby ATMs and banks were closed. While I was waiting the owner said hello and I explained that my husband went to go get cash...and he was fine. 10 minutes went by and he started questioning whether my husband would return outloud in Spanish. This continued repeatedly even when an English speaking patron came into the bar. The English speaking patron asked me if I wanted to call my husband...regardless to say it was a horrible experience and the owner was rude and even caused his guests to be rude. My husband returned and the owner actually added a propina tip before the total for our bill was determined (aka a predetermined, manually added tip by him). Summary = don't go if you can help it and go to Chipe Libre which has awesome service, great drinks !!

The Diablito (little devil) bar has the most amazingly large picolas I have had in Chile. As the…read morelocals would say they are bien cabezona (very roughly translated means the drinks are very strong). Indeed at El Diablito the drinks are HUGE and they are not shy to fill up the liquor. The piscolas are served in beer glasses and more than half the glass is pisco. The prices are great too especially for the size of the drinks. The decor is casual and they have filled the joint with all kinds of strange antiques. The service SUCKS but that won't stop me from going back. When I ordered lemons with my piscola the waiter just ignored me and I had to actually go up to the bar to get some. They offer a full bar and all the traditional Chilean bar munchies. One things I do love about the Diablito is that it is located in Bellas Artes and is a much more relaxed bar scene.

I have to admit, this review might be a bit biased as I was totally blown away with the owner's hospitality. She gave me her phone number (the first time I ever met her) and offered me to call her at any hour if I ever needed anything! She automatically earned a place in my heart and although I never called, I do keep coming back. We have celebrated a ton of birthdays here and always are the last ones to leave. Make sure to call ahead to reserve the upstairs for any functions.
