My answer appeared almost immediately, A Taberna de Cunqueiro, just a five-minute walk through the enchanting old town, boasting nearly a 5-star rating with 37 reviews. When we arrived, the place was packed, buzzing with locals and tourists alike. Just as I was scanning the room, probably looking a bit lost, a friendly waitress caught my eye. With a big smile and a cheerful "hola," she seated us right away. She went above and beyond, recommending the best tapas selections to start, and before we even had a chance to order, she brought over a warm bowl of potaje and jamón ham con pan--such a thoughtful touch! We ordered two refreshing local draft beers, Estrella de Galicia, and dug into the delicious appetizers. The casa croquettes, Iberian ham, small scallops, and of course, the Galician octopus, were all simply amazing. Each bite was a true taste of Galicia's culinary brilliance. After a second round of beers, we were so stuffed that we had to call it a day just as they were preparing to close at 2:00 PM for their lunch break. This spot has an amazing vibe and you can tell it's one of the locals favorite as it reas full of young people adding to the energy. This place quickly became one of my favorite while in A Coruña and merits multiple visits. It's located in the main eating-out area of Coruña so there is always the hustle and bustle of good atmosphere. It is very cheap, all tapas are 1€. I especially recommend the croqueta de jamon (ham croquette) which is massive and filled with visible chunks of ham (unlike most croquettes). Come here before lunch as an aperitivo or at night for a few tapas. Be warned though, it is always busy and you will most likely have to eat standing which is why I prefer to come here for a few and then move on to the next place.

The desserts were carrot cake (more like carrot bread) with cream and mini Oreos (tasty) and I had strawberry mousse (also very good). While the staff spoke little English and I speak little Spanish, we made it work via google translate. We didn't understand that we could have ordered tapas instead of the set menu - seemed others enjoyed their tapas - so that would be the way to go, if you go.
