For a high end restaurant the service is really lacking. We waited for several minutes at the entrance without anyone even greeting us, it got quite awkward. It didn't even look like they were very busy, staff walked by ignoring our party. I liked that there are dedicated parking spots in such a difficult to park location, but there were only 2 and I took the last one, so I imagine sometimes they could all be taken. The bakery is very cool and I loved the pastry platters. The food was all right; some very good (the ravioli), some just okay (ahi napoleon) especially for the price. The porch is nice but we were seated farthest from the edge so it was harder to see. The day was overcast anyway so we didn't get to see much sunset. read more

Our waiter, Gabriel, was so kind and quite funny. He took care of my mother and I for our brunch. The service was great! My mother and I stopped by on a whim. I walked in at 11 AM on a Saturday and literally nobody greeted me. There was no one at the takeout counter and I waited for 10 minutes. I helped myself to use the restroom. That was clean. But because I waited so long I didn't end up buying a slice of tiramisu cake, which I wanted to buy pretty badly. It looked really delicious, but I'll never know how it tasted. Loved the view and attentive service. I initially came in for just a glass of wine on outdoor patio and to go quiche from their fresh bakery (which by the way has the best views of any other restaurant on the water in Laguna), but I stayed for French onion soup and dessert, coffee. This was a good decision! I watched the sunset and felt the rest of the work day melt away. Highly recommend this restaurant. It's a staple in Laguna for several decades. Beautiful bakery case and a killer view make this an excellent stop for breakfast or baked goods off PCH in Laguna Beach. Near Main Beach, there's a large dining room or an adorable patio off the back with ocean views where you can sit with your breakfast or brunch. We've eaten here many times and while the food for sit down is a bit expensive for what you get, it's the price of admission for this area. We stopped in recently for baked goods and got a jelly-filled black and white cookie for Valentine's Day that was tasty. Their breakfast burrito is also a solid choice. Love that you can see part of the bakery case from the front window. Pop in and try a baked good and see what you think, quick and friendly service make it a regular stop for us. read more

We came for breakfast at C'est La Vie and it was such a beautiful experience. The view of the beach alone made it worth it--peaceful, bright, and the perfect way to start the morning. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made everything feel even more welcoming. The food was so yummy--I had the Laguna breakfast with eggs and Polish sausage scrambled, and it was delicious. The bread they served was soft, warm, and honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. The coffee was great too, which always matters for a good breakfast spot. Maybe not a place to go for dinner dessert and coffee? Pictures look fabulous but the food is mediocre. The outside deck used to look beautiful with nice flooring (from some photos I saw from 2025) and now it's just a grey, sealed floor and I only noticed it because it was pretty dirty and I was just thinking in my head how much nicer it would be to sit outside on the sidewalk since a sidewalk looks so much cleaner. Dessert was surprisingly not good. We had the chocolate cake and walnut tort. The best part of the dessert was the side of ice cream. The desserts were edible but for a place with a French sounding name you really expect better, something that tastes really good. Same with the latte - instead of any foamed milk it's almost like heated milk without a steam wand. It's hard not to get any foam or richness in the latte with a steam wand even for an absolute beginner so I don't even know how you get hot milk with absolutely no unless it's not heated with a steam wand. Definitely something that if I were selling latte's I would be sure everyone was trained on how to steam milk as it's super easy (I learned from a YouTube video) and it's really necessary for a proper hot latte or cappucino. So desserts and coffee is like a 1 or 2. Extra points though because the staff is friendly and doing their best. I won't be back for coffee / latte / desserts but the pictures of the actual breakfast / brunch do look good so they might be really good. If you are heading here for actual food please don't let this review sway you as the staff is great and the actual food might be amazing. read more

French food never disappoints. Came here for Valentine's Day and the view of the sunset over the beach was magical. The food is incredible, perhaps the best French onion soup I have ever had. Portions are good and everything is beautifully presented. Staff are very hard working and friendly. The bakery has so many different options and everything tasted great. We really wanted to like this place, but it was a disappointment from start to finish. The service was painfully slow, and when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and our lamb chops and steak was overcooked. Our drinks took forever to get to the table. My husband soup came at the same time his meal came after asking for the soup a few times to multiple waiters. The mashed potatoes taste like boxed mashed potatoes. Lobster bisque did not have lobster chunks. The staff seemed overwhelmed and uninterested, which made the experience even worse. The table next to us table cloth was dirty. We watched one of the staff members yell at our waiter several times because he was slow and messing up. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality and service. Unfortunately, this spot doesn't live up to the hype, and I won't be returning or recommending anyone to go. The best part was the non-charge for my husband meal. read more

The service team was very grateful although just notice when they took the soiled plates off the table, not supposed to stack up on the table in front of the person dining. Also, there might be a need for outdoor umbrellas to make sure that those who sit outside will have a shade while they're eating especially during the summer. Last thing, they might want to consider adding a restroom to avoid the long queue because right now they have two cubicles which turns out not enough to accommodate their guests especially during the holidays like this past weekend.w read more

so we went to laguna beach and we ran into a little French restaurant called c'est la vie. By the water was a nice view. They just cleaned house so they had all new waiters. Our waiter was great So I ordered the escargot it was the best I have ever had . I also had the French onion soup which is one of my favorite soups . A Caesar salad which was huge . We're were out for a stroll and saw the baked goods in the window so of course we stopped. The young man working that area was very nice and that's the only reason I am giving 2 stars. We ordered 2 oatmeal raisin cookies and a peanut butter cookie. The cookies were the size of my palm. So of course I knew they'd be more than $2 but not almost $8 each for these cookies. I only saw the price when I paid. I even left a 15% tip because the guy was so nice. But again, I did not look at the price/total. When I walked out and my husband was complaining about the cookies did I look at the receipt. My total with CC fee and tip was $28.15. Now, time to review the cookies. They were beyond dry. You try and take a bite and it would break and crumble. And the oatmeal raisin cookies, per my husband, tasted more like a sugar cookie with "A" raisin in it. I tried the peanut butter cookie and was just as dry and had a faint peanut butter flavor. Threw it away. I would not recommend this place for any of their baked items. I does get good reviews for their food but I doubt I would try it. read more
