There is an where they kept the grain; it takes a huge amount of food to feed a chateau full of people! Since the only heat was with fireplaces, every room had one and a billard table for times when the weather made staying indoors more fun. This is one of the smallest chateau, but it is so picturesque and well maintained that you can almost imagine living here:)

The walled city of Loches is a medieval marvel. Lots of stairs, lots of different sections of the…read morehouse that were not tied together - so we would climb into one area with empty space and then climb back down to another part of the house that also had empty space. There are 2 main parts to this walled city. We saw the Governor's House and the Dungeon although they definitely admit this was a jail of sorts but there was no evidence of it being a torture chamber One really cool part showcased all the wall carvings ( bas relief ) depicting soldiers, religious connections and house guards The jail area also had carvings from their tenants & it wasn't difficult to imagine the awful living situations being held there.
