Remember the days when you could get some Euros for your Pound? Me neither. Anyway, there WAS a time & I used to be a regular booze-cruiser on the Dover-Calais route. Trouble was that once you'd bought your car-rear-axle-troubling stash of whatever, the food offerings at Cite D'Europe and Calais were pants (or pantalons ?!). Anyway, step forward the truly fantastic Chateau De Cocove, one of the very best restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine at. An Eighteenth Century estate with a menu, wine list and atmosphere to knock your socks off. I had the best Chateaubriand steak ever there. Some truly classy wines & afternoons of sheer, unadulterated pleasure. It's near to the A26 & I cannot speak more highly of it. It has a hotel too, I believe.
