He had moved from temple to temple with his gf while "borrowing money" from rich/poor/old/young with the promise to return it in 2 years. When 2 years has arrived, his reply to them would be that they had donated and then block them.

This review is a long time coming…read more For the short period of time I called N. Fort Myers home, I'd start Sunday mornings at the Samudrabadra Kadampa Buddhist Center. It was a low period in my life, having moved to an area where abhorrent politics and the people it attracts, permeated everyday life. Gen Kelsang Namdrol, the kindest person ever, led sessions using Buddhist principles to establish balance and personal harmony. I can't tell you how helpful her talks and meditations were to me. As their website states, this is 'meditation and modern Buddhism for everyone' regardless of one's religion or belief system. Donations are $12 per class or $40 for the month. Nothing to sign or commit to; just show up. I suspect you'll walk out feeling as good as I always did. Namaste.

This beautiful Vietnamese temple in Tampa features a lovely walking garden and statues. Although I…read moream not Buddhist and speak little Vietnamese, my mother was a regular attendee. When she passed, her dying wish was to have a monk chant her into the next chapter. Even though I knew nothing about these traditions, the Abbot and another monk, Minh, were incredible--guiding me through every step of the funeral planning. So many in the community who knew my mother shared beautiful stories and helped me throughout the service, guiding me on when to bow, kneel, and offer food. During such a difficult time, this support meant the world to me. If you were interested in joining a buddhist template I'd recommend this loving community.

And it just felt very peaceful and serene here. Very nice altars were spread out around the whole place. Each altar seemed to be a stage in Buddha's life or one of his reincarnations (I'm not sure which is correct). There were a few people milling around and paying their respects, I think we missed the big event which was the night prior. Beautiful statues and a variety of exotic plants I've never seen before. The inside of the temple had a gorgeous altar. I don't know much about Buddhism, but coming here makes me want to read Buddha's story and learn more about the religion. I heard the temple in St Pete is bigger, but unfortunately we did not get to visit that one.
